I was casually looking for reviews of different products, I wanted to buy decent gear to get me started in this path, and I suddenly found your channel. I didn't expect to find a whole community of people going through the same as me with such positivity. I shaved my head a couple of days ago, ended up buying the Surker and the Leaf, and whoa. Great products and great channel. Thank you for this!
Have the Leaf/Twig combo myself. Absolutely fabulous head shave razor combo! I have switched to the Astra "green" blades myself. The Leaf blades are good, but I experienced some pulling/tugging with them when going ATG. Astra's slice like a hot knife through butter. I'll eventually try my Feather blades, but the Astra's are hard to beat for the price vs performance.
I've recently brought the Babyliss Pro super motor Skeleton to replace my Remington quick cut, it's expensive but worth it, it do the shortest no guard buzz I've had, as close as you can get with a trimmer.
The leaf is a game changer, man. Just like cartridge razors but without the discomfort, tugging and pulling. It's also cheaper in the long run. It's so wonderful
Bought a Leaf razor about a year ago. Used it a couple of times and it cut me up bad. So it's been in the cupboard ever since. After watching this video I got inspired to give it another go. Tried not to apply any pressure and was quite pleased with the results. Only 1 cut. I guess it's just practice. I want to like the Leaf so much and I will try to keep using it for a while to see if I can improve my technique. Thanks for your video.
I made the same mistake initially too. Applying too much pressure and really Kida rushing things. Now I pretty much just shave across the grain on the most part with a nice continuous shaving stroke and it really does the trick. Because I don't need to go over and over it works out about the same time. Stick with it 👍
I had the same experience and went back to cartridges. After about a year I decided to bust the Leaf back out. I knew it had to be user error or an incompatible blade or something. The Leaf has since become my favorite shaver. I now have a Twig on the way.
Just ordered my first leaf shave! Been using clippers up until now so this should be an experience. Note that this is being shipped from the US and the minimum delivery charge is $21 plus there may be some import charges too.
You sir have sold me on the Leaf razor! I watched another video which had me leaning toward it, but yours was the icing on the cake. Great review. Very informative. Great video. Thank you!
Just ordered the duo kit from leaf. Was a baldy for about 18 months fourteen years ago and just started reshaping my head again three weeks ago today. Using the Gillette pro shield with okay results plus, I’ve retained my beard that I continue to keep trimmed on a more professional level. The post head shave sensitivity is very real. I look forward to trying the twig for how it works for me.
Leaf one kind of looks like a modern DE safety razor. Looks pretty cool, I won't lie. A bit "steam punky" And as much as I love the aesthetic of my vintage Wilkinson Sword D.E, it's too tidiuous for me to use daily. Is like a 20minute ritual ha. I'm usually super skeptical of promos *cough* surfshark *cough* Raycon earbuds, but you've always been authentic since the beginning. I trust your judgement. And I'm happy you are partnered with this product 😊.
I’ve been using Headblade for 4 years now, it’s amazing! Pretty good for black hair as we have thicker strands, Safety razors barely shaved anything and buzz shavers left me with crazy bumps BUT I like the look of the Twig as another option 👍🏾
Ordered a chrome leaf razor right after the restock at the beginning of January, using the BaldCafe coupon code, of course 😉 Just can't wait to get my hands on it. Hope it will be any day soon now!
I've been shaving my head for 6 years with The Defender. The blade platform is curved for easy stubble removal. I shave my face & head in the shower and only rinse the blade 5 times. Takes me 3 minutes.
I'd buy this leaf shave thing in an instant if I had the spare money. The only thing I am not too fond of is the shipping from the US. Btw the foil shavers from Surker cut pretty well too, although they're not for sensitive skin.
Just ordered my leaf. Very expensive but hopefully save on the blades in long run. Fingers crossed this is good. Been using Boldking defender sensitive blades for over a year
Nice one Mitch 👍 grab some blades like the Astras etc and that is a year of shaving at the same price, every year after is a big money saver and that leaf will last you decades. I don’t see myself ever changing and I’m hoping I can pass it on like some kind of heirloom. 👍
Coming to the second week of my safety razor journey. The only blood I drew from it was from a pimple and a mole I have on my head with multiple passes. I guess I'm a natural. But this leaf razor is starting to call me.
I just got my LEAF razor and it is literally the most amazing razor that I have EVER used on my head and I’ve used and tried a lot not to mention the long term cost savings with only replacing the cheap blades. BEST. PURCHASE. EVER.
Purchased the leaf, twig ,and rubber grip handle today. Can't wait to use it! I'm over the double edge safety razor on my head....I just can't get it down. Plus it takes too long!
Super 'ranting, raving eco-warrior' here and that leaf razor does look amazing! I have a few DE razors and, while they're great (I definitely prefer them to cartridge razors), I do find it difficult sometimes to get a consistent shave from day to day.
Just bought a leaf razor 3 blade. Had only selected colours and one was gold and I thought of this video so I got that one. Looking forward to switching to this. Had the safety razor for years and I'd get cut now and again and sore at times, I went off that to Gillette razor proglide and I'm guilty for the waste in plastics and like you said they don't seem to last long especially shaving face and head. Thank you for the vid.
If you’ve not tried it, the Wahl 5 Star is a phenomenal electric option for a baby-butt smooth head shave. Like anything, it does require some time to get used to. But once you do, it’ll buzz you fast and close. And the Leaf is a beast. Just got one for Xmas and gave it a test drive today. Even with the butter knife blades that come with it, it’s amazing. Can’t wait to plop some good ones in it!
Ordered the leaf set for earth day and got 20% off. As a head shaver for the last 8 years, ive been using dollar shave club. Loved their razors and customer service. They just switched their razor styles to one that I don't like and won't offer the ones I've been using for years anymore. Time to move to a plastic free shave. Looking forward to using the leaf!
Just bought the clippers at a terrific price. I’m sure I will love them. I would use the razor, but can’t stop the irritation. Thanks for the video Harry, love your stuff mate.
After watching the video it isn't entirely clear to me, whether there is a substantial difference in the shaving result between the Leaf and the Twig. Could you elaborate on that? When on a budget is it still better to get the Leaf because of some benefits or is the Twig enough. Or perhaps it is advisable to save up and get both? Planning on using it pretty much on my whole body. Great video man, love the positivity as always!
I have both, and I have been using them for quite a while for headshave. If u are gonna use it for headshave, I would highly recommend the Leaf. I end up using the Leaf all the time. 2 or 3 pass shave. I only use the Twig for the last touch up around the ears (The Leaf is a bit bulky). The Leaf is currently my all time favourite for headshave. Better than the Twig, better than any DE razor (I have lots of them including the expensive ones like Timeless, Karve etc). So if u are still for either the Leaf or the Twig for headshave, I would highly recommend the Leaf.
I’ve been searching for a good razor to shave my head and have not found anything other than the generic cartridge razors. I just happened to stumble across Leaf and have been going through the reviews for the last two days. It sounds exactly like what I’m looking for! Gonna get the Leaf and Twig combo very soon!!
So pumped for my Leaf to come! Wish I coulda supported the channel with the baldcafe link last week when I purchased it tho! Nevertheless very excited to try it!
The leaf is amazing one of the best head shaves out there. The twig requires to many passes i just use it for my sideburns outline and my beard neckline now.
I have 5 o'clock shadow on my head every time i shave, even against the grain, it would be okay if it wasn't mostly round the sides, may have to get one of these
Really appreciate all your content, helped me a lot in the last few years in my journey into the bald side. 3 years out from this video, do you still find the leaf/twig to be your favorite shavers?
@@Baldcafe i know what you mean, im always looking to perfect the pre and post shave routine. Briefly tried to use a DE razor and had to stop given the number of cuts/wounds sustained. The leaf seamed like a nice middle ground between my cartridge and a straight razor
Love your podcast! I am torn between the “Leaf” and the “Twig” for my head shaves. Currently I use a “Rex Ambassador “ DE for the unbearded parts of my face. (A 1-6 adjustable DE that I would love to see you review). I love triple edge plastic razors for my head because it’s a quick shave in the shower, but I am thinking that a single blade would be better for my skin. Anyway, I am hoping that you will follow up here with your report on which is the better head shave razor. Thank you for all of your podcasts!
I’d say the safest bet is to go with the leaf especially because you will have the option of using 1, 2 or 3 blades and even the option to have them in different locations on the razor head depending on how aggressive you’d like the razor. Gives you that customizable shave and do guilt on being wasteful. It’s an absolute winner for me 👍
I think if you are coming from DE razor, twig feels more like a DE razors. It's smaller and more manourable. I just bought both, and still deciding which one I like better.
@@longbowsafari9974 I just had another headshave with the Leaf this morning. I think probably the Leaf is easier to shave with overall (for headshave). It's a bit bulky, so can be tricky to go around the ear. I think probably it feels more like a cartridge razor (I never used cartridge razor for headshaving though). The shave is quite effortless due to the moving head, but I'm still getting used to it. I find I need to put a little bit more pressure than I'm used to to get it to cut. The handle is long and bulky, so I have to change my grip a little bit. Overall, I had one of the best shave this morning. Effortless, no cut, no irritation, no razor burn, very close shave.
@@Baldcafe I returned the Twig and I have had two head shaves now with the Leaf and I love it! I don’t like the blades that the Leaf came with and I get a much better result now that I’ve swapped them out. I find the handle a little slippery but altogether it’s well worth it for the environment and the reduced costs! Thank you for the tip
a farmer who was going bald was talking to his life long friend about his baldness. he said "I don't want to buy a wig or have a transplant and I'm not sure what to do" his friend said "why don't you stick to rabbits to either side of your head" "what good will that do"? asked the farmer "well" said his friend "from a distance it will look like hares"....
I was looking for something like this forever, so I just ordered the Twig. Never liked cartridge razors but the DE head shaving was somewhat tricky. Thanks for the video man!
These look amazing! I definitely want to buy one of these as soon as possible. This is super cost effective and would shave as close as my straight razor. Thank you Very much! I am currently stuck in Korea however when I get back to the U.S. I will order these.
I'd love to order leaf razor but it will be so expensive to order it in europe, delivery+custom fees... I wish they would sell em in europe too to save alot of money
Looks sick I'm currently using the skull shaver because of the expense of Gillette cartridges. Might have to consider the leaf shaver sounds much cheaper in the long run.
Alright man...on your recommendation I’ve bought the twig and leaf set via your link! I’m 40, been shaving daily for 16 years and I thought I’ve tried everything. I was surprised that I never came across these single blade styles. I mean you never see these advertised or in stores. Looking forward to a new way (and new technique) to clear my head!
Leaf razor is a cool idea but it's expensive. It will take a few hundred shaves to break even if you are using something like mach 3 and cartridge packs. That could be years depending on how often you shave. With all those moving parts there is a lot that could go wrong. But as I said the idea is cool and if it gets enough attention we will see Chinese clones soon
I have come to expect that it all costs. I have discovered that for me the Defender Razor works really well for bald head shaving. I could get a years worth of shaving for about 70 bucks. SOme might say that is great or others scoff at. I am ok with it, goodness knows I have blown a hundred at a strip club in twenty minutes. I would like to think since I use a product for 100 times a year, that my face, head and comfort is worth the money spent. Shaving just costs money and we have to accept it. No electric or otherwise shave method is perfect. Every product has a flaw. It comes down to what we are ok with spending, dealing with (razor burn), and tolerance.
Safety razor, I've tried the rest, nothing comes close. I'm not paying a fortune for cartridges when blades cost 10p. I rarely cut my head with them plus the leaf razor is stupidly expensive so any money saved saved on blades is pointless
Love the Leaf for my solar panel shave👍 I have used cartridge razors, DE razors, SE razors and the Leaf. The Leaf wins hands down in my opinion although the Henson medium razor comes a very very close second.
nice will check these out, clean shaving is the next step over here. if anyone wants something cheap check out the Xiaomi Enchen Hummingbird for 0 guard buzzing. been getting along real well with mine.
I’ve been shaving my head for 20 years in the best razor I have found yet to date Would be the Mach three power This razor is so smooth and usually cut free it’s a Gillette item I say try it
Do you fill all 3 slots when you shave or just use 2? I like the idea of just using 1 blade snapped in half instead of using 1.5 blades, but curious what you think. Thanks!
I use a single Astra "green" DE snapped in half. Load in the bottom and middle slots. All you need. I've tried all 3 slots loaded, but imho using the two slots mentioned above provides just as great a shave as all 3 slots loaded.
These intense razors dream me out, I’ve heard they can be dangerous but obviously I see they aren’t. Just get one and get past the mental block of shaving deep into my skin
It might be just me but it's it's really difficult to justify the price of the Leaf razor. $115 + VAT and customs for us Europeans. When I have shaved my head for the first time I've used my Edwin Jagger DE87 safety razor and Astra Platinium blades. Haven't had any issues with it and the razor was less than £25.
Always used gilette mach 3 & now proglide on my head. Did dabble with a shavette but with a few moles here & there, minimal forgiveness on the angle being held & some nicking of the mole- reverted back to the proglide. Expensive but can't argue with the quality of shave & can get a months out of each one, shaving every 2-3 days. How does the leaf angle the blade- is this a preset angle or adjustable? Thanks
@Baldcafe, have you tried Feather AS-D2? I want to try a safety razor and that seems to be good for me but it’s expensive. Maybe an episode where you try different safety razor’s? Keep the good work up! 🙏
@@Baldcafe Thanks for the reply! Hoping for an episode about these. Testing alternatives to multi blade systems which are too expensive and have understood that the safety razor gives less irritation and lasts a lifetime with cheaper blades than the mentioned alternative.
YES, love my leaf shaver and twig!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am interested, but does the Twig shave as good as the leaf? I would like both, but would like to hear which of the two you think is best
do you use it for your face also and neck?

I’d say the safest bet is to go with the leaf especially because you will have the option of using 1, 2 or 3 blades and even the option to have them in different locations on the razor head depending on how aggressive you’d like the razor. Gives you that customizable shave and do guilt on being wasteful. It’s an absolute winner for me 👍
I think if you are coming from DE razor, twig feels more like a DE razors. It's smaller and more manourable.
I just bought both, and still deciding which one I like better.
@@azku I tried to return the Twig for the Leaf and the company never responded. Please let me know what you decide.
I'm a Gillette mac 3 guy does me good
a farmer who was going bald was talking to his life long friend about his baldness.
he said "I don't want to buy a wig or have a transplant and I'm not sure what to do"
his friend said "why don't you stick to rabbits to either side of your head"
"what good will that do"? asked the farmer
"well" said his friend "from a distance it will look like hares"....
The stubble looks great on you. You appear way younger
Definitely in on the Leaf and Twig
I have a leafshave RAZOR and a Headblade ... prefer the Headblade!
What shaving soap do you use? I have the Leaf razor and just ordered the Twig today.
Just ordered the twig. I have the leaf shaver but would like to use the twig for the face.
The best thing to shave your head is Panasonic Arc 5 foil shaver.
I'd love to order leaf razor but it will be so expensive to order it in europe, delivery+custom fees... I wish they would sell em in europe too to save alot of money
I believe they have plans for European distribution in the future 🤝 hold tight 👍
@@Baldcafe Really looking forward to it (Y)
#1 Mach 3 #2 Gillette skinguard #3 Harry’s
I use Gillette shavers and it’s so expensive buying the heads all the time I’m gonna try the leaf shaver thank you Harry
A Gillette razor 3-5 blade replacement head is 1-3 pound each for every 3 head shaves , this is 30 p
What’s your verdict?
I just use my mrs cheap venus ones, absolute great head shave, not a single bit of prickly hair left.
do you go with the grain 1st then against it? or with the leaf just straight to against the grain?
Leaf twig razor is the best,I love leaf twig
Safety razor, I've tried the rest, nothing comes close. I'm not paying a fortune for cartridges when blades cost 10p. I rarely cut my head with them plus the leaf razor is stupidly expensive so any money saved saved on blades is pointless
Same for me, but I can't speed with safety razor. With the leaf I think you can do it
@Anfifelo you have to do an it slowly and drag the razor, don't try and do it like you would with a Mach 3
Speaking my language! Thanks for the review
You can get 100 Astra Superior Platinum blades from eBay for under £8 with free delivery
Thank you for these recommendations. Wanna try it out. Clippers especially.
Hi all together, great page😜
I hate to Shave all the time
What's happened with Epilation?
Thank you for doing this video! Been waiting to see what type of razor you support for a good head shave!
"Didn't quite cut it". Unintentional pun!! Great vid. Cheers man.
Nothing really works for my head, that or my technique sucks. Gonna take a leap of faith and try this Leaf Razor.
💯% agree with everything you say about the leaf the best head shave ever 🪒 so glad I made that investment you won’t regret it !!!
Ive been head shaving with DE razor for so long I think it would be weird to use a cartridge razor now lol
Can you make a video on how and how often you care for your Leaf Razor?
Honestly I just rinse it off an every two weeks or so give it a good wipe down to shine it up again nicely.
Do you take the blades out after every shave?
These intense razors dream me out, I’ve heard they can be dangerous but obviously I see they aren’t. Just get one and get past the mental block of shaving deep into my skin
It might be just me but it's it's really difficult to justify the price of the Leaf razor. $115 + VAT and customs for us Europeans. When I have shaved my head for the first time I've used my Edwin Jagger DE87 safety razor and Astra Platinium blades. Haven't had any issues with it and the razor was less than £25.
If you’ve nailed the DE keep going man that’s good
Between the double & single blade leaf razor, which one clogs up more? I got thick hair, therefore hair gets stuck between blades and safety guard.
Harry, I’m thinking of getting either the leaf or the twig (maybe the twig ‘thorn’) for my head. Which one would you recommend?
Yeah, I came here with the same question...
Anyone here start Balding a couple Of years ago hated it at first but now i cant stop Shaving every single day 😂
Always used gilette mach 3 & now proglide on my head.
I’ve never tried them no. But it sounds like you recommend them. I will have an experiment and see if good for a video. Thank you 👌
@@Baldcafe Thanks for the reply! Hoping for an episode about these. Testing alternatives to multi blade systems which are too expensive and have understood that the safety razor gives less irritation and lasts a lifetime with cheaper blades than the mentioned alternative.
