Im tired of it. Most rappers that are screaming Redbone are darker complexed men. Most dark skin women prefer light skin men. Most light skin women prefer caramel brown and chocolate men. If one really pays attention the bigger ploy isn't in the threat of Colorism on the black community, its in creating fear in and division of the black community. If an individual walks up to you and say oh you are cute for a dark skinned girl. That's ignorance. It's The same with someone saying oh your cute for a fat girl or you don't look like a thug for a guy with Dreadlocks. This type of ignorance is contagious. My dark skinned friend literally walked up to 2 little girls, on all 3 of my kids, and told the darker of the 2 that she was cute and don't let no-one tell you different. The only thing I could think of is what insecurities did you plant in a child who had done nothing to you? You are that bitter, insecure, and hurt about the cruel things that were said about you that you are intentionally trying to create hurt in a child? We are just as guilty of teaching our kids Colorism then white people teaching their kids racism. Its a learned behavior and every time you recognize the difference to be negative or positive, you create a divide. I'm here as a lighter complex woman because I want to hear more on her son with Autism. We share that in common as black women. I hate that as an adult woman that she has to battle Colorism, an unnecessary fight. But if we keep giving it power, especially as black women, we are always going to lose. If we are being honest, our problem with black men is the mistreatment and lack of commitment to black women. They are out for sex and they honestly don't care what your skin tone is.

You know your right! The great thing about Black Beauty specifically is that it comes in a kaleidoscope of different shades & colors! We got White Chocolate, Caramel Chocolate, Milk Chocolate, & Dark Chocolate just to classify in general you know what I mean? & I like ALL hues/flavors as long as they are attractive/desirable inside & out but I have to say that Radiant Dark-Skin Women are a truly rich treasure to behold; it simply depends on a person's preference. I think Beautiful Dark Skin Men are sexy & powerful as they are my favorite!

It was the opposite for me. I wasn't teased about my dark complexion at school but I was definitely teased about it at home. My cousins, sisters, brother and neighborhood friends made me feel like the ugliest person.... Just because I'm dark.

1: Meelah was my main crush from the 702 group growing up.
2: I've said it for years, if a woman is a ten on the exterior, but only has a rancid, selfish heart she's got nothing to be desired. It's the whole ESSENCE of a woman, inside and out that determines just how much of a treasure she is.
3: Black women should celebrate who they are with pride. No other women on earth can style and present their beautiful black hair in SO many countless ways.
4: I believe there to be a tremendous bickering among the black community, serious division on many issues. I feel the negative mindsets have almost been 'planted' psychologically from outsides sources and influences, government and otherwise. Ever heard of the concept "divide and conquer"? Well it's out there, and a strong people under God must hold together, to not let sinister forces threaten their peace of mind, as well as their dedication and love as a family. I know some good looking women and men who have the features of their dark parent. Yet, the lighter skin tone from the other one. Does that mean the darker parent is ugly?
I love Meelah! And wish the other two would reunite to do a reunion tour & that's it. I know they have their own thing going on & the industry & it's integrity level of professionalism has changed tremendously so I can understand why some of the old artists of the 90's wouldn't want to return.
