Thank you Jeff, enjoyed the visit.
My kale was going good until I left my gate open, chickens did their harvesting. It'll be fine, they'll pay me in delicious fresh eggs.

You suggested using a 5 gal grow bag for a single Red Russian plant, and I'm so happy took your advice. They're growing like crazy! I started too many, though, and had to pop a bunch into my large flower pots as center foliage. Thankfully petunias and kale make great pot mates😊 Thanks for the advice!

Recently joined your channel. Found you when searching for tomato tips. I'm in central FL zone 9b. I planted one dinosaur kale back in Feb and it's big and lovely now. Just started harvesting leaves. I hope it will make it through the worst part of our heat coming up in July and Aug. I have been enjoying your videos.

I planted Kale one time in my first large garden after moving to this ten acre farm. I was so new to the whole planting thing, once the rain washed away my labels I couldn't tell the broccoli, from the cauliflower, from the kale. I was learning so much new stuff, my brain was dumb to the common sense of that I had eaten kale before and know what it looks like, but for some reason, it never crossed my mind. I thought I was going to be cool and cut some kale up to put in the mini quiches I like to keep in the freezer for the family to snack on when no cooking is happening. I tasted the first one and it was so delicious! But it tasted like broccoli. haha. Yep. It wasn't kale. Broccoli leaves are delicious! I am not sure if they are as healthy as kale but they are amazingly good. I haven't planted more kale yet. I guess I should. Great video!

So much good information on your site. I have grown Kale for a few years now and our biggest challenge here in Saskatchewan is the flea beetles that will chew it off even overnight. There is a massive amount of Canola grown here which is a main food source for them but they gravitate to the Brassica family garden plants for the lovely change of flavours and diet, lol. We use Diatamateous Earth and is effective but needs to be reapplied after every rain. apparently forgetting or getting busy isn't an option.

My beautiful kale was badly affected by insects ? black fly this year, could get rid of them, so bye bye kale. Very sad as i enjoy it. Late summer early autumn planting.
Jeff what is the straw you use, i note it comes in bags, is small chop and so dry looking. I tried bales but they were awful full of seeds etc and clumped.

Thank you. I think I will try Kale this fall. I have potatoes and garlic growing and I want to plant something after those are harvested and the soil amended. Take care - Lar.
