always such a Universal tool of assessment. This way of scoring provides unity in information throughout all professionals globally. ie: a colleague in another state can give you the body score, and you have an accurate idea of the horses condition. .. it's not based on " individual personal opinion "
Thank you for a good informative demonstration. I never have been able to understand the pictorial explanations that i've seen so far.
Really good to know this thank you 😊
Thanks for the thoughtful presentation and locations for additional information. How does the body condition score fit in with other tools such as a weight tape in forming an overall assessment?
This was very helpful, thank you
My horse in her withers you can see a little bit of bone but she has a crease in her butt and mid back. You can't see her ribs when she's just standing but when she raises her head you can see her ribs. I don't understand how to score her or what score she is
There are other videos that show you how to score each area and then average them together. Based on your description, your horse will probably score a 4.5-5.0 unless some of those locations have quite a bit of fat on them and then she might be a 5.5 on average.
Some horses have metabolic conditions that will cause them to be SUPER fat in some areas and skinny in others. You just take each area's and average them.
