I know here in Australia, about 20 plus years ago people use to dumpster dive, make their garage up like a grocery store. Then people use to come from the community and help themselves. Some of them made it on the news.

I used to dumpster dive before I became disabled. I was a travel nurse and was able to go to the dumpster in front of our apartment. I found so many things! I was able to get some household items and some clothing, but most of it was donated to homeless and/or womens shelters. it was a wonderful adventure!

Ive gone around and around with stores over this question and finally got an honest answer. They simply do not want to do the work to donate. Even having someone come every day and pick it up means they have to store it somewhere while they wait. Its really disgusting and the simple answer is they do not donate out of pure selfishness and laziness.

He also did the inventory for the candy so the store never noticed until literally years later. They had a wtf moment realizing why is the candy aisle always empty-ish? They installed cameras by the dumpster suspecting something/someone and to their surprise found the employee taking all the candy home lol. He was a big man.

Yes, it's done by pure greed! They make more money by trashing it and making a claim than by donating and getting a tax deduction. It should be illegal! There are protections on businesses when they donate food, so if they accidentally donate something that makes someone sick, they can't be held liable. This is why most of the decent chains donate now and the greedy ones do not.

A pastor and his wife in the town I live in dumpster dive for food and they use it for their meal site and food bank what a wonderful way to save food that would be otherwise wasted thank you to all the people who saved the wasted food and help those in need but even with their efforts a lot of food still gets wasted the perfectly good food needs to stop going in the dumpster and instead go directly to those who need it

My sister and I are Dumpster Divers, we save food, clothing, snacks and more. We donate to The United Methodist Home for Children, our local food bank, a local Christian school that helps families with gifts at the holidays and single mothers and their children, We share with Friends, Family and Neighbors, and also our church who has a clothing outreach.
This year we're having Santa bring gifts for 17 Family members. Our Santa is a Dumpster Diver... what a blessing it is to help others.

Seeing this amount of stuff in a huge dumpster makes me feel physically sick because there's so many people in need and so many people going hungry. Imagine how many people the food in that dumster could feed. Just mind blowing how these companies can allow this. They could so easily donate so much to soup kitchens to communities who have nothing who are struggling to make ends meet. Thabkyou so much for everything you do guys. Please donate to as many people as possible

I'm from Texas. Me and my parents used to dumpster dive back when I was a kid it was fun it was like finding a treasure as a kid always something new. My dad worked at the dump ground and back then we use to get all kind of new stuff that the store would throw away. Dad would come home every day with some new like clothes toys and sometimes he calls when grocery stores would get rid of their groceries still frozen and we come and get it, it was awesome as a kid. I still like to do it but my body just wanted let me. Lol but I love to watch people still diving and having fun dong it.

That's awesome thanks for letting us know. We love it also and our kids get excited too. The look on our son's face when he saw the wall of Gatorades was priceless. He was so excited and our older daughter when she saw the gummies and our baby got the Gerber puffs. This was probably our best score ever and we were able to donate a lot as well. Hopefully we find more like this it helps so much! Thank you so much Kim for watching and being a part of this channel.

This makes me so mad I've been in need for food in my life and seeing this video is really sad thank you for doing this. You really make a difference by giving to those in need. You would think in the age we live in the food would go directly to local food banks not the bins it truly is just so sad xxx

I remember when I was little we would go to the dump. But we would go when the sewing truck would come. Any piece of material that was wider than our arm we gave to momma and my momma would be going through the thread and she would make us clothes and quilts to sale
