You left out the rubber that's on a bicycle is made of petroleum also and not just the plastic. In addition, the bike was manufactured using petroleum as energy to make the components and put them all together.

You forgot shale oil in north america, a complete game changer.

I'm not sure of the shale production timeline but this was recorded in 2008 so it might not have been seen as practical yet.
