I have a heavy wool winter coat from the 1930s. I've had it since 1988. I wear it most days in the cold weather. I've had to replace the lining and I've mended it on the cuffs and on the collar. I still get compliments on the beauty of my coat. If you do the math, my beautiful coat has seen nearly one hundred years of service!
A lot of good points. A Norwegian environmental group has the 5 new clothing items a year as a campaign this year. And yes, it does not include underwear. I mostly wear jeans and cotton sweaters, so that is only what I buy now. I have bought two new items so far this year. Very happy about that.
Your video popped up today and I really enjoyed it. At 62, so many things don't matter to me anymore. Your video today made me think of a few things I can go through and cut back on as well as the reminder to hang dry more of my clothes. I find it so much easier to get dressed with a small wardrobe with only clothes I really like. Mending is so relaxing for me. Looking forward to watching more of your videos.
Thank you for sharing this! As I've grown older, I've started to feel a deeper connection to the principles of minimalism. Many of us can relate to this journey, and I understand how it can shift our perspectives.
Great topic, Lia. I'm a long time minimalist and not a fan of this capsule wardrobe concept. I live in the mountains that has four seasons which winter and summer can be extreme. Yet, we have varying temp spikes between morning and evening or just wild occasional weather due to our topography. So, I would never want to pack away all of my short sleeves and tanks for winter or vice versa. I like having layering options esp with enjoying outdoors. Having a cardigan that I can tie around my waist and get down to a tank if need be as an example. As well, I might go to a theatre during the summer yet know they are notoriously freezing inside and want to bring my wool sweater with me. 😂
I can relate. Where I Iive, sometimes I go through all the four seasons of the year in one day, and add or remove layers accordingly 😆. And I'm very sensitive to temperatures, I really relate with your theatre story!
I have most of the basics I need but my latest practice is learning to make my own clothes. I know how to sew and knit but I've never done a lot of garment making for myself but I'm changing that. I think having handmade items will help me want to mend them instead of toss things because I remember all the work that went into them or just have an appreciation of how much effort goes into a garment and the fact that not long ago we couldn't just go out and buy a dozen socks any time we wanted. I'm thinking about socks because I currently knit my very first one and finished it this evening.
Just discovered your channel and watched a first video. Love it. Am looking forward to hearing more about you and your ideas. Am 59 and I'm just getting started with minimalism...❤
Love this video! I'd love to know your thoughts on cleaning/ hygiene in the minimalist age and our attitude to germs/ sanitisation from clothes to homes to when we go out and about! I know its a heated topic but I feel like there must be a balance!
I definitely think you are right that many people who think they own less actually have a lot more! That was my first thought when you said you got comments like that
Hi Lia I think your channel is great. Every one of your videos is interesting, fun and covers subjects that I can relate to and love. You are awesome! ❤️
Dear Lia, one more video from you that I loved! I keep track - have a list - of the things I buy for myself from Jan. 2022 and it’s very interesting for me to see where it goes with the time 😊
I totally did the audit, but had done it before the video since I keep a spreadsheet inventory. I don't do natural fibers but that's a really good one to go toward. I will say though that I had a great highly secondhand wardrobe pre-baby (pre-34) but after that my body has changed many times and it's so frustrating; my wardrobe has turned over a lot more and it's harder to buy secondhand when I'm curvier.
I can recommend the underware company Comazo. They are from Germany and I have been wearing undies and bras for the past 10 years. They last a long time and I wash them very frequently. They are made from organic cotton. I was never able to try Organic basics undies so I can't compare. (They are never in stock). Hope this helps.
Thank you for sharing Your thoughts and experiences. I struggle a bit with One issue that is how to mantain and make friendships when it takes to ecological and social principles. I find it hard to find people that care about this issues as much as i do, and not making it exhausting to just 'teach' and Share information all the time. I dont know if Im making it clear to understand, but just how to find like minded people? Could you Share your thoughts about this?

@@micivalantincic8227 I wish I could post a photograph of it as well. Thanks for your kind words.
Every time I'm amazed how young and how wise at the same time you are.
Altering and mending is so therapeutic, it really changed how I feel about my clothes❤❤

It’s so true-bending makes things out open and we add character and memories when repairing

Wonderful video! I like the wardrobe audit concept. I’m sorry it didn’t do as well. I’ll go watch that. :)
With socks, undies, accessories(bags belts & shoes), lounge wear, outerwear and all seasons included... My total is 153 items
