they should just give these player their account data to them encrypted and a way to restore the old accounts when someone wants to, this way they wont have to be storing the data in their servers.
I don't think that's a good idea. Someone may be able to decrypt the data, modify it to their liking and suddenly have a maxed account.
there are many strong encryption methods(RSA, AES, etc) out there are strong enough that it would literally take a millennium to decrypt it using any of the best super computers out there and u wont need much resources to do such encryptions.
I think they should first delete all the inactive low rank accounts like recruit, private, corporal etc because those accounts wont be loosing a lot of progress
As someone who is in IT, I can confirm that removing old accounts is useless as their impact on sever load is minimal, if any.
I haven't played tanki in a while so I don't know how the laggs look like and thus cannot determine their cause, but from what I heard they only exist when many players are online. This would indicate that laggs are caused by either server ram or computing power, neither of which is used by inactive accounts...
In short... if tanki think it will save them from lagg, they fked up. If they do that to be able to reduce server storage and thus get cheaper servers, then R.I.P. too...

If inactive contact support. Usually when an account reaches inactive status, it gets a prefix "r_" in front of the username. If there were multiple accounts going inactive using the same name, it would look something like: r_Example1, r_Example2.
It would be smarter if they deleted only old accounts with low rank (for example up to warrant officer 1)

I have 2 very old accounts with rather high ranks which i cannot log into. Both of these were my dad's, he's the reason i even got into Tanki. The nickname he chose for the main account (also on the former highest rank Marshall) was based on my actual nickname irl and has stuck ever since for me throughout my gaming carrer. It has been years since we last logged in. I am also aware of the "r_....0" renaming thing, but i just dont remember the pw. Only 3 more days till its too late, guess i'll have to guess.
Contact support for Tanki while you try! That may give you a better chance of recovering it!

Deleting old accounts may slightly speed up login times due to a smaller database, but it won't improve in-game performance at all.
Real-time performance is more affected by active users and server processing, not the number of inactive accounts. This is all a scam. Research it

@@yeeyee2789why else would they do it tho? there’s 0 reason to remove old accounts if it isnt gonna fix lag, its only gonna hold the old players back, so theyre definitely not lying, theyre either just dumb or know thay it will reduce the lag a little bit
This is shit considering my history of leaving for some time then coming back. Negatives override positives by a lot. Maybe deletion of low rank accounts is fine but deleting someone who worked for years to get legendary is down right insulting and a spit on the face for people who given much of their time to the game
Deleting old accounts means deleting a chunk of history! If they will not revert it I'm literally done with this game! Don't get me wrong, game isn't that bad but developers are the most idiotic devs I've ever seen! Or give way more time at least or close the project entirely. They can't fix their servers and again players are getting slapped. What a f***ing stupid idea. Second time they're so aggressive to players which made this game special. But no, they don't care about their players and about the history of the game. And by deleting accs nothing will change.
They're like Roblox when they deleted a giant chunk of their blog posts before 2022 or 23, don't remember exactly, which was a huge chunk of the platform's history.
So I am not allowed to take a break from Tanki Online and focus on my life? I have to be a constant gamer or bye bye legend account? Fk this game, they deserve to lose it and close it forever, I wish to see Tanki Online to rot like GTanks and MyTanks. Let them lose players to close this freak thing they call ''game''.
I just dont see how that could change anything unless database servers are running on the same hardware as game lobby servers...
Sure it could speed up loading times from fetching player data and overall api requests but it wouldnt do anything for the game apart from maybe faster match connection.

This is dumb because this has nothing to do with why the game is slow. Even if they do remove all of the inactive accounts, it doesn't affect the servers with tons of people clicking one thing at a time. It also won't fix the in-game issues with lag. What's the point of this Tanki? Maybe get better servers? This would slightly speed up the loading time in the game or just to a different screen. Tanki lets not be dumb here.

Someone can take ur id,if you are inactive for so long. Then tanki will give ur id to someone else. Suppose ur id is electra. Someone took it . Then ur new Id will be r_electra. If there is already r_electra before ,it will be r_electra2. If there is r_electra2 ,then ur id will be r_electra3. So try logging in with these.

Ya, I think it is a good idea since it will shrink the player database and less space on the server; also might improve load up times. I don't think while you play it will matter much like less ping time. Lol I logged into my first account like 0.71 KDR 1st Lt... to keep it alive...heh
They wouldn't have to do this if they would return the option to self-delete. Having to go through customer service for days to delete your account is such a waste of time. Also, those accounts shouldn't impact their servers. It's just pass the blame vibes really. I don't have much incentive to log in because it's too unbalanced. Tanki doesn't address any of the actual issues sothere's no incentive to sign in. This low-key pressure tactic isn't going to bring any of these players back. Most of them aren't even keeping up with the game anymore.

Yk if they didn't allow the maps to get full of mines maybe their servers wouldn't take a heavy load. I go to any Parkour map and they have atleast 10 every battle some have hundreds if not thousands of mines being dropped in just one battle

Honestly, old players who have been inactive for a long time but for some reason want to come back later don't want their old accounts. Old accounts were given almost no augments, that's just how the game balance worked, since augments were either non-existent or very few. With the current game being so augment-based, you'd be better off making a new account anyway
