    Well done as always.
If you're going to shell out 3-5,000 for a camera body, I don't know why you'd even visit the camera store until you watch these detailed product reviews. So many times, people have expressed regret in buying their camera because they didn't do their homework and establish what their needs really were. Video's like Tony's will provide you with most of the info you'll need. And he's great at pointing out what some of the weaknesses are so you won't make any misinformed decisions.
    A good return on investment!!!

So many videos about the R5, over a year later! You notice how you don’t hear about the 7sIII anymore 😂😂! Nobody talks about it anymore, no more videos, or comparisons to the R5😂😂! From Day 1, I said they weren’t comparable! 7sIII is a video unit! R5 is still the best hybrid camera ever! Love mine!!!

Hi Tony. Per your comment on charging older batteries... I picked up a BG-R10 and I plugged my MacbookPro (USB-C) power supply into my R5, with my old 5DMK4 batteries installed in the BG... And they're charging! Maybe the older batteries don't USB charge in the actual (R5) camera, but they do if they're installed in the R5 battery grip which is great news!

Can you record directly to an ssd from the mini hdmi out? An ssd like the WD 2TB My Passport SSD External Portable Solid State Drive Up to 1,050 MB/s, USB 3.2 Gen-2 and USB-C Compatible? Or do you really have to go through Atomos Ninja V+? Aren't all the output selections in the camera menu? This would be a huge savings. This drive is half the price of the CFexpress 1Tb. And I assume that the WD ssd would be taking all the heat and it could most likely be cooled while recording. Maybe I'm wrong. Surely someone would have mentioned it before if it works this way. Could save $1700 on the Atomos Ninja V+ and another $500 on the CFexpress card. The camera is already overpriced, but I just can't justify getting something for the next few years that has fewer features. What to do.

Maybe it’s because I’m viewing it in Canada, but that micro center sd card is more expensive than a SanDisc extreme pro, both at 128GB. MC around 45 cad 15MB/s write and SanDisc around 40 cad 90MB/s write. Am I missing something? Are there any alternative cheap backup sd cards you would recommend? :) I looked through a bunch of cheap cards with great reviews on Amazon, but the 1 star reviews on those products are scaring me. A lot of them are saying “it’s fake” or “actual capacity doesn’t match packaging”. Or some are even saying they’re corrupting files straight out of packaging, and getting stuck in cameras…

Can anyone tell me if there is a way to see the remaining shots on BOTH cards? My count on the LCD when JUST a 128GB CFE card is installed is 5000 something. If I add in the SD card to have JPGs go there, the number doesn't change and I can't find a way to see how many shots are left on that card. Is there a way? I guess if recording to both cards the CFE/Raws will be the bottleneck but it would be handy to see the remaining shots on both cards.

@@TonyAndChelsea It's a mixed bag when it comes to size. But anyway I didn't buy into this system because of the size: when I got the original R, I assumed that it's just the beginning of a new era for Canon. For a change, I wasn't wrong.

Tony, when it comes to photography tutorial I have come to respect certain individuals in different aspects. For example when Anthony Morganti and Mark Denney explains things in lightroom I get it much more easier than anyone else. I easily follow Christopher frost and Dustin Abbott when it comes to lenses. I gravitated to Jason Lanier in his shooting style but I thought he talked about himself way more than he talked about the subject. I have not met anyone who explains the camera settings better than you do. I owned the Sony A7RIII for quite awhile and could not figure it out until your settings tutorial came out. Just recently I upgraded to A7RV thinking I will be okay but little did I know the menu was going to be different. I'm just hoping that a tutorial video from you is in the works or at least you are thinking of making one, PLEASE.

... You haven't found anti-flicker to make things better? It's got to be the lighting. With fluorescent lighting (CFLs) the anti-flicker is a godsend and is nearly perfect if not totally. Of course I am using it at 'slower' shutter speeds, anything in like 1/60-1/250 that you would use indoors under poor light (not a sports shooting with stadium lighting scenario). Without it, one can easily get 1/2 the shot looking normal and the other half amber.

Has anyone noticed that animal AF does not work on horses? As of April 30, 2021 with latest firmware, horse AF issue remains. In animal Eye AF, with a person and a horse next to each other, focuses on persons eye 100% of time in all subject orientations and distances. Don't know why the big name youtubers never mention that. i think they need to break down animal AF into classes of animals triggering different algorithms for insects, birds, cats/dogs, horses/deer....the current one size fits all is not effective. Also, birds in flight merits a different algorithm for instananeous focus grab of fast moving subjects.

It's great video & you speak so clearly. It's just hard to keep up & understand all the buttons you go between. I wish you could point out a button before you use it so that it's easier to understand what each one does. Calling them "front" &"back" doesn't help because there are so many buttons everywhere. And sometimes your finger blocks which button you're using. Seems like many of them all do the same thing. Super confusing. The Canon manual is overwhelming. Thanks!

I recently deleted a number of photos from my camera only to realize that maybe 10% of the photos had transferred to my computer. This never was an issue when transferring photos from my 5D cameras. Thanks for the comments about the batteries. A couple of things. First there are non-Canon batteries that work perfectly, I've tested several. Some work some don't. However the Powerextra brand sold on Amazon that are labeled LP-E6NH work perfectly (battery life new Canon vs new Powerextra in my experience is comparable). The USB charging and 10 frames mechanical shutter features both require the LP-E6NH COMPATIBLE batteries and as Tony said even Canon brand non- E6NH batteries have limitations. I also have tested many chargers and less than half work for USB charging. The chargers need to be "PD" compliant which usually means they accept the a USB C cable rather than a USB A cable. Finally, I've not experienced any issues with battery life. Camera settings make a BIG difference. Two settings that really shorten the battery life are WiFi on and Bluetooth on. These will shorten the battery life EVEN when the Camera is off. WiFi on can deplete the battery in as little as 8 hours EVEN with the camera off. Bluetooth drain is much less but noticeable. I shoot professionally and have no problem shooting over 1,000 images with the battery grip. BTW I used to run Quality Assurance for a software company so testing software/equipment is just in my blood. I hope this helps your followers... Good job with the tutorials.

Please would you provide some additional detail on how to use the Q button. With my 5D mk4 the Q button allowed you to scroll between the different settings, select one of the settings, then scroll between the different options and select the one you want. However, it does not seem to work like this on the R5. I can scroll between the different settings but I was unable to select one or see the different options that are available. In the end I resorted to using the menus which is like going back to a point and shoot camera from 20 years ago.

So, I have an r5 (so does my wife) and at random times the card selection of where it is saving photos or video will switch to the card2 SD not the desired CFX card (yes we save the settings on Custom modes).
Even with saving the custom modes it will still switch randomly, has anyone else had this or is there a solution?

I used a smaller SD card then changed the CF express. They were not in sync. I got an error. Another photographer told me to take it out. How can I use it without cleaning the CF express and not get the error? Or can I?

Hi. thanks for the great content! By the way, when you format a memory card nothing gets deleted. Just you can't see them anymore. They can easily be recovered.

Hello, could you please let me know if live view is available for R5 LRC tethering (can see live in LRC instead of using view finder)
