I have IT band tightness and muscles around my hips. I roll out on a TP roller, but I need something that goes deep. I can take the pain, but I need to get any scaring out. Which gun? Ekrin says the B37 has 30% more power. Did you notice a difference? Money is not an issue but if the features are really pretty much the same other than attachments, which would you choose?

Which is the Most Powerful mini massage gun? I am currently looking at the Ekrin Bantam vs. the Bob & Brad Q2. I want Powerful Stall Force? Any input is greatly appreciated.

Scott, love the videos! How important is ventilation for a massage gun? I see some that have a vent, like the Ekrin devices or ones that do not, like the Opove Apex. Thanks so much!

Not sure whether I should get one of these over the bob and Brad c2. I'm pretty stuck on the c2. I'm also fairly thin so thinking the 8mm on the c2 is plenty enough.

Great thoughts! Great choices. The one I carry is actually the B&B Q2. Even smaller and quieter yet just as strong.

I'm a boxer, biker, and runner. I'm an endurance athlete and my legs definitely need a massage gun (I didn't realize these were a thing until now, unfortunately). I'm looking at the Ekrin b37 (lifetime warranty and looks high quality), Sportneer D9 (cheap but have heard it's high quality), and the Opove M3. I want to seriously break up the lactic acid after workouts, reduce my downtime between intense workouts, and feel looser moving around, what would your suggestion be? I'm worried that 12mm may not deliver a good massage (I have never used a massage gun so I have no merit behind that other than seeing 16mm being higher, lol).
Congratulations on having a quality channel and being on American Ninja Warrior. A lot of reviewers and self "entrepreneurs" seem very ingenuine and are clearly in it for money. You reply to all comments and seem like a good guy, so thanks for that.

Thanks for the compliments. Yes, I wanted a channel that I would want to watch and trust. That’s why I push products I think are worth it not the ones that pay me the most.
I would highly recommend watching my latest comparison video. I think the Ekrin would be a good fit for you. I also love the Sportneer. I have a coupon codes for both of them, but only use if it’s the right fit for you. This video will help compare them against the high dollar ones. Let me know what other questions you have …

If I do get the Ekrin it will be the B37 and not B37S, would you still recommend the Ekrin as a good fit in my scenario over the others if it is not the "S"?
Again, the effort you put into this channel is amazing, I just shared with two gym friends who are looking for a massager as well.
      Thank you for your time.

Maniac, I'm also a cyclist... and a grad student which means I obsess over anecdotal claims vs. actual evidence. Many of these companies claim that percussive massage "flushes lactic acid." Let me be clear on this, it does not, full stop. There isn't any substantiated peer-reviewed research which demonstrates that percussive massagers confer a quantifiable difference in lactate levels in the muscle. Here's another fun fact... one hour after cessation of your workout, lactate levels return to their pre-workout baselines. As such the pain you feel will be related to something else... mainly the fact that you've just created a bunch of micro-tears in your muscles which need to be repaired.
What these companies attempt to do is fool people with conjecture that sounds plausible enough to pass as real evidence. Vibration therapy and sports massage therapy are similar to percussive massage, right? Nope. They are different, different modalities, different mechanisms of efficacy. You can never assume that just because something seems similar, it will confer the same results. This is what they all base their marketing on... they cite results from studies that sound similar but in reality are unrelated. Sounds plausible, but that's just not how these things work. Another common claim borrowed from research into vibration therapy is that percussive massage increases blood flow and circulation, and therefor improves recovery. To my knowledge there is not a single placebo-controlled, randomized, peer-reviewed study which substantiates this, this is all merely marketing conjecture.
What DOES improve circulation and blood flow resulting in a quantifiable improvement in recovery? Active recovery. If you do a HIIT workout with 4 reps of 8 minute intervals at 5% above FTP with 2 to 4 minutes rest in between each interval (one of the most effective peer-reviewed HIIT sessions for cyclists out there) then your next day should be at around 50% of your FTP. Foam-rolling is also evidence-based as is nutrition. Consumption of carbohydrates (NOT protein, the study that claimed that has since been refuted with better data as the initial study didn't control for caloric intake) after an intense workout is time-sensitive. Protein is important too (iirc about 1.2 to 1.4 grams per kilogram of body weight per day for elite athletes) but as long as you get it within your next big meal, you don't need to worry much.
I'd HIGLY recommend Dylan Johnson's channel for evidence-based cycling information. He's a former Charmichael Training Systems coach and does an excellent job of providing multiple peer-reviewed evidence-based studies to all the claims he makes. In particular I'd recommend this video (he looks like he's 13, but I assure you, his videos are very well researched, I've come across many of the same articles he's cited in some of my graduate-level work):
      ua-cam.com/video/Bt8JbqrK9R8/v-deo.html
So why am I here? Probably the best argument for massage guns... let's face it, they feel good. More research is needed but that by itself may confer a psychological advantage (and even if it doesn't, I don't care). There is limited research which suggests some performance benefits but it's week, and it doesn't add up to community consensus. Still "it feels good" (so long as they do no harm... which by the way... I'd keep these devices with a larger amplitude away from your neck) is a pretty good reason. I've tried the Theragun Pro, Achedaway Pro, and Sportneer D9. Oh... to answer the question, I'm here because I think BYB makes an attempt to quantify the performance of these devices. I used his pillow-on-a-scale test with the Achedaway Pro (which BTW is just a rebadged Chinese gun you can order off of AliExpress for a fraction of what the Achedaway Pro costs but I found that out after I ordered mine) and measured the stall-force at 25 pounds. The only reason I did that was because I saw them advertise 80 lbs of stall force and I was *easily* getting it to stall out on my quads. Nowhere near the stall force that the Theragun Pro had. It did have the travel they advertised at 16mm (measured with digital calipers). The Sportneer had neither the amplitude nor the stall force necessary to dig into a knotty quad. Also, while it looks like it's high quality, that's a bit of a facade. That metal piece near the head which makes it look beefy is literally a hot-glued facade. I know this because the one I received didn't have enough hot-glue applied during assembly and it fell off. Underneath it was plastic. The Theragun Pro wasn't mine, but it would have done the job (but I personally couldn't justify the price... nor do I think the engineering is worth it, search UA-cam for a Theragun Pro teardown). As BYB has mentioned, amplitude isn't everything, it's a combo of stall force AND amplitude that matters. As such I'm interested in the Ekrin devices and their higher stall forces. I'm also curious about the Opove Apex which I think is in the 14mm to 16mm range of amplitude and can be had on Amazon for around $159 with a coupon IIRC.
As you posted a year ago, did you end up buying anything? What did you get, and can it dig in enough to those cycling and running quads and hammies? If I was just concerned about stuff above the belt there's so many more options that would make me happy... but damn those quads!
