    Ascidian
    During their development from larva to adult stage they show retrogressive metamorphosis
    Larva with advanced characters like
    •Nerve cord
    •Notochord present in larval tail only
    •Sensory organs
    These advanced features become lost or degenerates during their development hence it is called retrogressive metamorphosis.
    Tadpole larva is active and free swimming stage while adult stage is sedentary and simple.
    It includes three changes-
    Retrogressive changes
    Progressive changes
    Molecular changes
