I’ve been living here for 3 years now. I really really love this city mainly because of the rivers. I always love citys with rivers and bridges, it gives such a great atmosphere to the architecture. Győr is sometimes called the "City of Rivers" because the Rába, the Rábca and the Mosoni Duna all flow into eachother in Győr. And the Danube doesn't flow in Győr. It is the Mosoni Duna (Mosonian Danube). It is a divergence of the Danube that starts near Bratislava (Pozsony) and flows back into the Danube just northeast of Győr. And this makes an island in the Danube which is called Szigetköz. There is a pretty nice village east of Győr. I think it's called Bábolna. There is a nice palace thingy there.

Győr, the general location was inhabited at least since the iron age. There was the main town later city with high and thick stone walls, fortified abbey, chloister, tunnels and catacombs streching far and wide. If you can, please spend a whole week discovering this wonderful city. Your head's gonna get dizzy from all the sights and nice things the city can offer
