Pyle Audio Mixer Review PMXU83BT Tutorial

- Опубліковано 28 вер 2024
- In this video I will review my experience with Pyle mixers over the past year, and the basics of how to use an audio mixer. I have used this audio mixer extensively for UA-cam videos, OBS recording, guitar playing, and gopro videos. it is an excellent consumer level mixer for streaming, gaming, or podcast. It is a USB interface and Bluetooth audio mixer. This video features the Pyle PMXU83BT, but I have also tested the 4 channel and the Pro series mixers with great results. The Pyle Bluetooth audio mixer is one of the best audio mixers there is.

Your great review helped me to buy this just now…. It’ll be my first of this type for my DJ studio…. I’ve used analog PEAVEY MIXERS and other types of dj mixers but for live streaming needed something like the FOCUSRITE or similar until I ran into this one you reviewed….. thank you very much
Glad it helped!
And you are happy with the noise?
Pyle says there are 16 digital effects...I think they should clarify and say there are 16 reverb/delay effects. There's no effect like a compressor, limiter or exciter etc. Maybe a small point, but I feel Pyle does this intentionally to make you think you are actually getting 16 different effects? Just a heads up to those that may not know!
Good point Digital Gods 😀
Yeah that's what I want to know. What actual fx are they. I'm guessing not pitch shift. Or compression or distortion or phase like the yamaha 10X
I bought the Mix12 mixer and it works well with my red interface going into my Home studio iMac. But I bought this Pyle PMXU83Bt mixer and I can't get it to work! Hoping it's something I'm doing wrong. I want to use it on my gigs. 'Trying to play my keyboard through it to my Elliott amp head to my Elliott speakers. Thx
It is a USB sound device. Check your sound settings on the Mac. Also, be sure the usb mode is set to PC and the mp3 level is turned up
Thanks for the review! Is the Bluetooth for receiving ONLY, or can it transmit to powered speakers as well? And can you stick a USB drive with loaded songs into the slot and play music that way? Thanks for any answers.
The Bluetooth is an input on the mixer. It also shares the same channel as the USB so you can only use on or the other. However the best setup would allow this by adding in the powered speakers via the main out. Then use the usb stick or even better add a computer using the USB cord into the USB input on the mixer and you can play it from your computer into the mixer and out the main.
@@PrestonKallshian so was that a yes?
@@borg386 No to question 1 and Yes to question 2
Is it work with audacity to record my singing? If it works.. what I need to do for setup ?
#Curious before purchasing
Yes, a USB mixer can work with any PC software. It is simply the audio device for the PC. It becomes the input and output sound device in the sound settings.
Hi Preston. I can't figure out how to connect my pyle mixer to my PC. When I hit the mode button to switch from BT to PC the Display says "NO"
The usb wire has to be connected to the pc
@@PrestonKallshian seriously? I thought it went without saying that the usb cable was plugged in already. My laptop has 3 usb ports. Tried them all. Nothing worked.
Strange. It should be plug and play. Try a different wire or double check the windows sound settings.
Will this mixer work with a dual PC streaming setup?
Sure, just plug it into the broadcast pc usb. The mixer is simply an audio input/output device just like a headset but with lots of splitters and knobs.
Can you use a flash drive to play from and record to?
I think so. It does do both but I have not tried to do both at the same time.
What's the difference between PMXU83BT and PMXU63BT?
One is a 6 channel one is an 8
Can you connect this mixer to Bluetooth external speakers?
Not wireless. Bluetooth is an input only
Do you think I could use this pyle with an at2035 to sing?
Yes 💯
Does it work with my new Mac Mini M1 ? Please advice.
I believe so. The mixer is simply a USB device.
Great video, but what exactly does the PC cable do and how do you use it in a computer?
USB is a 2 way to the PC in/out
When the PC is connected does the Pyle show more than 1 stereo pair? So you can Have a Cue pair output to headphones separate from the mains?
My Pyle mixer doesn’t want to put out sound it has the peak light on on channels 6 and 7
Depends on what output you are using. Check if the usb button is pushed.
i have a question, while usimg the usb ran to my computer can i use th av plug in the same time
Yes.
So the Bluetooth is for input only from phones, computers, tablets, etc., but not to transmit a signal from the mixer to Bluetooth powered speakers?
Your catching on.
@@PrestonKallshian If that's the case then why do we even need a mixer?
Most Bluetooth speakers have on board mixers on them already.
I'm just trying to figure out how to stream 4 to 6 microphones to Bluetooth PA speakers all at the same time.
Still no luck. But thanks for the video.
@@borg386 use a Bluetooth transmitter from the mixer output. Or use cables it will sound better anyway
@@PrestonKallshian yes,I guess I'm stuck with cables maybe. But I will investigate the Bluetooth transmitter idea.
Thanks so much for replying.
✌️
I just bought the 6-channel model and I noticed as I test it out is that you don't see any levels appearing when speaking. I know I'm getting output because I am able to record through my laptop, but why do I not see any levels on the mixer itself? What is required to get those levels to work?
Turn the main output slider up. Maybe that will do it. The USB to pc connection has its own volume knob which is the mp3 one.
@@PrestonKallshian I had it pushed all the way up, along with the mic channel and the gain. No lights
Not sure.
AS a DJ I NEED TO QUE UP THROUGH THE HEADPHONES IS THIS POSSIBLE?
I understand. This mixer doesn't do that.
Can it be hooked up to a DJ controller ? If so, how ?
Tape in. It's a great addition for an EQ pre amp to really tune your sound. Add more mics. Good effects for mics and singing.
How do I connect a CD player and can I record to a cd?
You can use the main outputs into your CD recorder. Or if the mixer is connected usb to pc you can do it that way.
Can I record two separate tracks individually like to focusrite?
🤷♂️
yes or not?@@PrestonKallshian
Have not tried that
:c@@PrestonKallshian
No pan knob. :(
True. This is a pretty basic mixer. The Pyle PRO might suit you better. This is the one I use now >> ua-cam.com/video/_Mvp94f8Has/v-deo.html
@pyleusa
😃
Can i use my cb radio on this thing 🙏 let me know please
Yes
This mixer is rather a disappointment, because it does not have panning. I will not buy it because I cannot pan left and right to two separate tracks simultaneously for my computer recordings.
Get a pro mixer
Ugh. You lose credibility as an audio expert with the terrible bass-heavy, unnatural sounding audio output. The mixer shows intended heavy bass, low treble settings - you may like it, but I find it grating and annoying and unnatural sounding. Just MY take. good luck. TT
Good thing I'm no expert!
Can you plug this mixer directly into a passive speaker? Or or do I need and amplifier?
Need an amp. This is not a powered mixer
hey , what do I need to downlond to my laptop to record? like what software
You can use anything. Windows sound recorder, OBS, Audacity etc...
Enjoyed the video! A couple of questions on this mixer: 1) I noticed in video when you switched to blue tooth the LED followed and the PC indication was gone and replaced with BT...but are both the blue tooth connection and the USB out to PC fully functional at the same time? 2) Are the out jacks for Control and Send both single jacks independent of each other that send the same signal as the main out? Do each send a stereo signal?
Thanks very much!
Hi Joe, the PC or Bluetooth function can be used not both at the same time. For the outputs there are tons of options. Can't remember which are what right now.
There is lot of noise dude. That should be the first thing you should address because this mixer nor the pro are of no use for recording.
🤷♂️ Works okay for me.
I have the 4 channel and can’t get a signal to send through the L mono channel to my sub. Any help ?
It should work. Make sure the cable is a TS cable not TRS
I just ordered the pyle pmxu43bt does anyone have this mixer and what do you think of it I usually only buy Yamaha
ua-cam.com/video/WXHXx8Vacpw/v-deo.html
I think the pmxu43bt is a good mixer for up to 2 microphones. It is small and plastic, easy to transport
My slider is all the way at the bottom if I put it where yours is at 0 my speakers would probably explode lol its working as a volume for me I wonder if I'm using it wrong 😅 🤔 🙃
Turn your source channel down with the knob.
@@PrestonKallshian hmm what will that do lol
I'm trying your way and it works to lol 😆 so I'm going try it out your way and see what happens I just got this and never had any pro audio stuff before I'm blown away by the sound and power with this stuff thanks for responding and video
Are delay times user adjustable?
No, but there are different delay settings. The mixer has 16 digital effects
What are the actual FX of
01
02
03
Etc...
04
To
16
Yeah, mostly delay effects. 🙄
So, you can record to the flash drive?
Yes, the flash drive can be an input or output.
Great video, I'm having a problem and I can't figure it out. I just bought the 12 channel and thought that I could just connect it in the laptop, I heard a faint tone while troubleshooting , then a buzz, now nothing. I'm thinking it is something with the drivers, please help 😂
Should be connected using the USB cable from mixer to laptop. Make sure the USB selection button is pushed on the mixer. Change sound settings on the laptop so the speakers and mic are the mixer. mixer
@@PrestonKallshian will do and thank you 💯
Let me know how it works out.
@@PrestonKallshian I definitely will
is it possible to use this with an XLR mic using the USB for backing track through the headphones?
EG: hear the usb audio in headphones but not send it to what I’m trying to record to
No I don't think so. If the usb is playing it will be in the output unless you turn it down but then you won't hear it.
I wish it had panning
IKR 🤷♂️
What about pan knobs?
No pan on this mixer
I have a question, when u choose REC, where does it record to, can u plug in a flashdrive and have it record your mix set to it? Is it internal storage? If so, how do you retrieve it and how long of a set would it record?
It records onto a USB thumb, yes
Great informative video!
I've purchased this same mixer in the past for my podcast. However, I sent it back because I had some capture issues using this soundboard with Audacity on my MacBook Pro. I would have everything connected and start recording and usually a few minutes would go by and the recording would be totally off! Someone suggested that it may be the bit rate at which I was recording... I would love to use this board but I do not want to purchase without figuring out what I was doing wrong. any advice?
sorry for the long story
Hmmm...I'm not sure. It's probably just the settings these devices are simply a soundboard audio interface.
What’s the difference between the 8 channel(this one) and the 8 channel pro (PMXU88BT)? I’m trying to decide if I should get this one or save uo the extra money and get the pro
The pro has a few more functions such as sliders, mute buttons for each ch, PFL listen, more EQ. I have both and they are both great for my uses with a pc or as a dj setup mixer
I have my focusrite solo 3 as my audio interface for my windows pc. Would i be able to use this audio mixer along with my focusrite? I’m looking to get my first audio mixer and need help on how it would all run.
You can use both. The mixer is an audio interface too because of the usb interface. If you are still using the focusrite you would probably plug the main mic into that and then run it's output to a mixer input. Then plug additional mics into the mixer. I would probably just use the mixer
bro, I have a 4 channel version. My question is, will I be able to record the channels independently in my DAW to mix later or will everything be recorded on a single channel?
🤷♂️
Can I connect MAIN OUT directly my receiver CD input RCA L/R input with just a pair of 1/4" to RCA connector L/R cables?
Yes
I am replacing a Behringer mixer + 2 speaker set I bought less than a year ago and the board totally failed in the middle of a live show. In that set-up, the speakers simply plugged into the mixer and worked. They did not need separate power. Will those speakers work with this mixer? Again, they do not have power cords. I'd hate to have to replace them too!!!
This mixer does not have amplifier so it would not do what you are asking.
Preston - your video presentation is excellent. Thanks for taking the time to do this video. I've had 2 or 3 different Behringer mixers over the years and they were decent. This seems to be a similar product. Q1 = How does this compare to the Behringer XENYX products? I have a 3PC performance band (Drums, Guitar & Bass). My drummer wants to hear the other players in his monitor onstage. Q2 = As long as I have guitar and drums in channel 3 & 4 - would I use the control room / phones output into my drummer's monitor? Q3 =.Relatedly, could I use the "Send" line as an output line to my drummer's monitor? Thanks for your time and consideration.
Control room out or main out split to his monitor but he may need his own volume control or just change the position of the monitor to adjust for the amount he wants to hear. I would not uise the send. I have not compared to Behringer.
I just got a 6 channel Pyle bt mixer and I’m having trouble using it as an audio interface for fl studio. The Buffer rate is super high, the daw and computer recognize it as speakers. If I shorten the buffer length to anything under 500ms it has hundred of under runs. Where can I find drivers for this device? I am confusion.
Doesn't require any drivers. Are you using the USB connection to your computer?
im having trouble connecting my pyle pro to the pc. do you have any suggestions? it will connect to bluetooth, but it will not show PC
Hit the mode button by the usb connection it will say no or PC if it gets connected to the pc via USB wire. Make sure the channel level is up. The channel slider is usually labeled MP3 or USB and it controls the level of the Bluetooth or USB input. You can use one or the other not both
What is the best speakers to use with this mixer?
You will need powered speakers or an amplifier. I would get either "powered bookshelf speakers" or "powered studio monitors". Computer speakers will work too.
@@PrestonKallshian ..ok thank you.
@@PrestonKallshian I’m using this mixer for audio in church. What is the best setup to use it? I have connected to an Aux which goes to the home theater system.
I would need more info about your setup. If it works you're probably good
Great video. If I were to connect 2 speakers, what 2 slots I would use with this mixer?
The main outputs to an amp or powered speakers. 4:09 in the video
I have one, it works well, but, we have a weird delay going to the speakers when we use wireless mics
Can't explain it sorry. Test with a wired and see if it happens. Probably wireless mic delay.
So the main out is where the plug the speakers in?
Yes, typically. They would need to be powered speakers otherwise an amplifier.
Do the 🎤 record in mono or stereo thru the mixing board or stereo only?
Mics are stereo. Recording in stereo or mono is possible
Hi Preston,
Thanks this wonderful tutorials.. More over you have answered almost all the queries posted by the people.. and its like reading an FAQ or manual. Thanks and really appreciated..
I am having 2 questions..
1) What is the use of Send, return and ctrl out?
2) I am planning to by either of these 2 (PMXU43BT.5 or PMX466). In your view which one will be the best option and reason for that..
Anyway thanks for these great videos.
With lots of respect. This is Bijo from India.
PmX466 is very similar but slightly less features like a 2 band equalizer vs a 3 band equalizer. Send and return I never use but I believe it is for additional effects to be added. The control out is an output to send to a nearby monitor speaker or control room.
@@PrestonKallshian Thanks for your reply and time!! I placed an order for the PMXU43BT. Now waiting for that..
Awesome let us know how it goes!
@PrestonKallshian I got the PMXU43BT 2 hours back, and started playing with that.. I am having a weird issue. I am using behringer xm8500 for line 1, Line 2 I am using a mobile or laptop to play karaoke.. So far its good and I can listen the out put in the Main out, Ctrl Out and in the headphones with out any issues....
But the real problem start when I start record the video in to the another mobile. (I tried in an IPAD and in a moto g 60 phone). I tried the following.
1) From the main out put to the mobile connected via the following cable. (Using a UGREEN 1/8 to 1/4 Stereo Cable 3.5mm TRS to Dual 6.35mm 1/4 TS Mono Y Splitter Audio Cord Adapter cable)
2) From Ctrl out to the mobile using a (3.5mm TRS Auxiliary Audio Cable Nylon Braided Cord Compatible + a 6.35mm (1/4 inch) Male to 3.5mm (1/8 inch) Female Stereo Audio Jack Adapter)
I can listen the combined sound o/p in the headphones (and in the Ctrl out and Main out) with out any issues and I like that o/p sound, but while I record the video in the mobile/IPAD, its not recording the Karaoke sound. So its recording only the line 1 o/p (Sound with out the Karaoke).. I thought that it was the issue with the mobile. then tried with another mobile too.. but results are same. So any idea or any thoughts to overcome this issue. Its really weird.. should I buy anything else to overcome this?
once you get the time kindly respond. With lots of respect, Bijo from India.
PS:- I never thought that I would end up with this issue ...UA-cam is not allowing me to post the amazon URL for the cables, which I bought.
Hi, I just got the 6-channel model and don't see a way to view the input/gain levels on individual channels on the meter. Am I missing something, or is that just not a feature?
There is just the main level indicator.
How can you figure out the level of the gain if the meter is just a level indicator. How do you set the gain to don't get distortions? Thanks in advance!
You would go channel by channel metering one at a time with the single meter.
I look forward to see it myself:)) I ordered but takes more than one week to get it here in UK because in UK is not longer available. Thank for answer.
@@PrestonKallshian So there is a way to make the meter show the gain level instead of the output? I want to see just the gain without the influence of the level knob.
GREAT REVIEW….. I’ll be getting this instead of a FOCUSRITE SCARLET 2-channel for my live streaming and recording while DJing
Glad it helped! I do like the Pyle mixers.
The send and return jacks, is that where I would plug in my in ear monitors receiver?
I have this same unit, trying to record myself singing with backing tracks, at Karaoke....lol
Thank you for any input.
If you have wireless ear monitors the unit would plug into either the headphones jack with a converter or into the main out, last choice would be send but really there are many outputs. What IEM is it?
@@PrestonKallshian I'll look when I get home, don't remember off hand
@@PrestonKallshian I ordered some spliters to run it off the mains, I'll let you know if it works.
@@JoDoDesigns2011 should be perfect. There are many ways to use the mixer if you getbto know it and have the different adapters and splitters.
@@PrestonKallshian yeah didn't even think about those, thank you for your help
