Hey great winter-mon, listen I don’t want you to get in trouble with anyone so I have to warn you that Pokémon you drew Gingerbrave he already exist; he’s the main character in the IOS game Cookie Run Kingdom. Just wanted to give you the heads up.
Hi all, I created the original Punycore design! I came up with the idea almost instantly after watching the video, because I wanted to be unique and not do an ice-type for winter. As it turns out, almost everyone also had the idea to not do an ice-type, plus I ended up doing yet another Grass / Ghost type like my spooky autumn Meganium, so turns out I was less original than ever! I wanted to make a Pokemon based on the Persephone myth from Greek mythology. To very quickly recap the story, the goddess of springtime was kidnapped by Hades and brought to the underworld, and since she ate pomegranate seeds in the underworld, she has to spend half of the year being Hades' queen. The time she spends in the underworld is winter, and the time she's free is spring and summer. One thing I was really pleased with in this design was the name inspirations. It combines Punica, the genus of pomegranate, puny, Kore, another name for persephone, and core, as in the part of the pomegranate where the seeds are. Obviously I'm impressed with how well Tam managed to capture the Pokemon art style, that's something I still have trouble with, and the little indents behind the eyes and mouth are a very nice touch! I also quite like the splotches of rotten color decorating the main body. I was very very pleased with my original design, and the fact that you didn't change too too much about it reinforces my pride in it. As always, thanks so much for the feature. It was a ton of fun to participate, and I'm always down to join in if any future Fakemon challenges roll around!
Eventually I plan on making a video series for the full Fakemon region I'm working on, but considering I don't even have twenty designs drawn yet, it'll likely be a good ways away
It would be cool idea to have a Punycore form that wasn’t rotten, that could appear during the summer, since it rots from the cold weather of winter Also thanks for featuring Snowbi :D
Punycore's creator here -- Punycore is first and foremost based on the Persephone myth from Greek mythology, so it'd make a lot of sense to have a form when Persephone isn't hanging around the underworld; that is, a springtime form! Looking into the mythology a bit more, it is curious how the Greek goddess of springtime is one and the same as the goddess of death, so it seems that a Persephone pokemon really doesn't fit anything other than Grass / Ghost. Personally, if I were to expand Punycore, I'd probably do so by giving it a Hades-inspired evolution or two, though a seasonal variant could absolutely be worth looking into.
Well didnt make it into the redesign but I saw my drawing in the showcase at the end🙈 The redesigns turned out pretty cool, congrats to those who got picked :) I think Snowbi is my Favourite

I'm binging all these videos and I just need to say that these turned out really good. You've really mastered the Pokémon art style and I'd honestly believe they were Pokémon in a new region. Hope you keep doing this. The community came up with some cool ideas.
