  • The clip opens with the last operational GN somersault signals which were operational in 1992 They were located at Thorpe Culvert on the Skegness line. the clip is a bit long but I was determined to see both the distant and home signal go down and up. The clip then follows the jolly fisherman past the box and to finish we see views of Skegness station and return on board the the train

    Great video brings back some good memories . Travelling by the class 20s was one of the best bits going to Skegness on holiday from Leicester in the 80s

    Nice one. I was on it that evening too! 20090+20132 worked it every day until 090 finally gave up during the final week.

    1992 must have been the last year for the Class 20s in the Midlands; I can't recall them after then but their decline was gradual so we didn't notice until the last were withdrawn. I remember that a pair of 20s worked the last train from Thurcroft Colliery in that year and 1993 saw a few further runs to Skegness but with the dedicated railtour locos...
