It’s such a wild process , we went from a destination wedding to a countryside uk wedding to just completely realising it’s not what we wanted and now we’re doing a town hall in London and a reception at our home but I’m adamant it’s still going to feel like a fairytale. it’s honestly taken so much pressure off and feel so much more us. So excited to see your journey!
A London town hall and reception at home sounds so atmospheric and romantic and *cool*. We had a very small wedding and I've never regretted it. Having the wedding that makes you happy is the thing. I certainly would never have done a big, planned thing but I still enjoy watching videos like this and seeing people do their thing 🙂
Hi Ellen!! I love that you are thinking about the long term impacts of your budget so early on, that is a great start. It’s very personal, but I would say for me that not going above our means and not having to sacrifice too much in the lead up to our wedding put less pressure on the actual day, and meant that we weren’t putting on our expectations on this one day being absolutely perfect. The other thing I realised about our wedding was that it was more about our families than it was just about us as a couple. The more than our families could be involved in the ceremony or the planning or the set up, the more it meant to them. It was the proudest day of their lives, which meant the world to us. You will have many amazing days with your future husband and this is just the beginning, so I think enjoy it as much as you can without so much pressure. I hated it when people said that to me, but I think it’s so true
Oh it's lovely to watch this. We loved planning our wedding. We live in Surrey but got married in Australia - we wanted exactly the same vibe: our favourite people on a holiday together in the sun. Similarly we put the deposit down on the venue without seeing it. And it was perfect! Enjoy the process and all the little moments leading up to the day - they are sometimes almost as lovely as they can be unexpected. I found the outpouring of love and support when we didn't expect it so humbling and lovely. x
I’m so excited for this series! I myself don’t want a big wedding but i looooooove watching other people plan their big weddings and omg can’t wait for the wedding day. Im sure it’s going to be absolutely beautiful! Good luck on this journey Ellen and Cameron 💖 Also your hair looks stunning xx
I got married in 2023 just before we had our first baby and I would say, don’t let it take over your life and relationship. It’s a beautiful day with your favourite people, don’t overthink or overspend. We had our immediate family in a registry office and then a celebration in a restaurant! It was just the best ❤ I’m so glad we didn’t go overboard with budget etc xx
Thank you for sharing your wedding planning with us....hopefully you & Cameron once big decisions have been decided you can relax and totally enjoy the fruits of your labor!! Can't wait to see and hear more!! Happy Sunday!!
I just got married a week ago, so I get to watch this series and your wedding planning process with fondness, instead of stress, but I wish you the best time! I was so stressed about so many thing that I ended up not caring very much for the day of or afterwards, so I hope you soak in all the joy and excitement during the planning and have a blast on the day of! Everything will go by so fast - I hope you find small joys even in the most frustrating days, revel in the excitement and love on your special day, and look back on it with happiness! xoxo
Enjoy every moment :) dont make it too stressful! It will be magical no matter what as it is celebrating you two, never lose that in the process :) And definetly dont sacrifice the everyday and life together afterward, because the day after the wedding your project is over (and that feels soooo strange!!!)and you need to enjoy the next phase of life together :) thanks for sharing
It’s great that Cameron is so interested in planning with you. My then fiancé’s interest helping me plan faded fast but he was excited to get married so I guess that’s a win. I know you’ll make a beautiful bride, Ellen! 👰♀️
I got married 5years ago and we had our perfect dream wedding. We did not blow all our savings. I got the bridesmaid dresses made. Saw exact style I loved and got material and a tailor and paid a fraction for it. Also things like wedding cake, have only one tier real and remainder fake and have the cake sheets that will be used to serve guests. Also saved money on invites by having electronic invites sent out rather than paper and it was the best thing. With regards to decor, if your venue is beautiful already then it’ll probably be just flowers you need. We also designed a lot of stationary bits ourselves so programs, table numbers, seating charts and menu cards. There are ways around saving money if you get creative. But do not blow all your savings on one day and also save for it but don’t start changing your day to day life too much. It’s only one day! Focus on the marriage and not the wedding day is always my advice to everyone x
Hello lovely! Watching this video a little late but my best friend just got married in Cape Town (Stellenbosch region) and I was her MOH, we are from Australia so we literally went through this exact situation! Please if you have any questions, let me know! It was such a gorgeous wedding and by getting married in South Africa it was actually so much cheaper then a wedding would cost in Australia and the venues, food and drink are so much cheaper compared to Aus!
I had to have my ring resized too as it was one full size too big. Took them 10working days and I missed it so much. Just had it delivered today and i'm so happy, feels like the first few days of wearing it and the excitement of it all over again.
Aww, I am so excited for you! I had a honeymoon in South Africa and it was absolutely, totally hands down one of the top experiences of my entire life. We spent 3 weeks (btw December including Xmas) around Cape Town and West Cape. We started in Franschhoek, when drove and had unforgettable few days and nights in Sanbona. After we came to Stellenbosch, and then "Last word" in Kommetjie and Constantia. Godness, its such incredible experience. Fabulous place to celebrate love. So happy for you xx
Honestly, just for me personally, I would always prioritize the everyday life and permanent things. Sending money on making life nice will set your marriage up better e.g. being able to stay connected by going out for date nights every week in the year after getting married As opposed to spending so much on the 1 day party that you can not go out for the rest of the year, loose touch and in worst case: get divorced, then how much good did that princess wedding do? none... 🙂
Ellen thank you for always brighten up my weekend special with your new vlogs and your contents are just wonderful and I wish you have a blessed weekend🥹🥹♥️♥️♥️
I had my wedding back in August of this year, August 2nd 2024, and we planned our wedding for 2 years and 2 months😅, we’d been engaged about 3 years and 2 months when we got married too! It’s such a wild ride, just try to enjoy it! It is costly (ridiculously so) but honestly, it was the best day of our lives. Seeing everything come together after all the hard work, was just insane! And you truly do just focus on being there with your husband (ahhhh!🙊) it’s amazing. Can’t wait to follow your journey, it’s so exciting! Yous have got this!🤍✨
I have never known a wedding where the bridesmaids have to buy their own dresses, they usually come out of the wedding budget and the bride and groom also give them gifts to thank them.
Actually a lot of less traditional weddings that I have attended have done it exactly like that :) Each person then is able to choose their ideal style, instead of having to oblige to a specific budget.
If i wanted my bridesmaids to wear a certain dress/colour then i would definitely pay. If i decide to be flexible and they can wear whatever they like then they can buy their own. But i probably do want them to roughly match - so i'll definitely be paying for their dresses ❤️
My cousin was a nightmare of a bride! Now we all laugh now about it but back then we all wanted to drown her🤣 Even she says she was a bridezilla 😂🤣 The cost that surprised me the most was the photographer and videographer fees. The basic package only included 4 hours which of course is not enough to cover the entire day. At the end the cost was outrageous
Im so glad you chose South Africa as your wedding destination. We have the most beautiful landscapes and venues. Im biased i know. But its true. Great choice Ellen. It'll cut your costs down so much. The South African rand to pound value will help you greatly. 😉 🇿🇦 P.S we have the most beautiful weather February to early May.
I’m commenting as I’m watching so you may have covered this already, but my uncle runs a hotel called Trail’s End which is about an hour out of Cape Town in the Elgin valley and they do wedding bundles! Worth checking out for sure 😊
The planner must make your dreams come true. 😊 Check for all the hidden charges in the planner fees. They should be a friend but at the end is a business for them. Budgets always goes overboard! Remember that the process will get stressful because you want perfection but at the end of the day enjoy the process with Cameron. You don’t want to be a bridezilla like the movies 😂 Cheers to love and happiness ever after ❤️
I assume Ellen, That your wedding planner will take care of most of the planning and preparation according to your specific requirements, but no doubt there'll be some decisions that you'll have to give the go-ahead to, but hopefully it will be less stressful for you than if you were doing it all yourself👍
A wedding is one thing, a marriage is different. Enjoy your day, but dont get obsessed with all the ridiculous minutiae of what the wedding planner suggests. It is only a day. You only needtwo of you to say yes, nothing else matters!
Totally agree, nothing takes the romance out of a relationship faster than having an amazing day followed by a year of not being able to have any treats and good times because you are paying for the wedding still.
Could not agree more!! We are so conscious of going into our marriage in the best place we can ❤️

How about look up wedding events and talk to various vendors and planners there. You will get better idea of what is that you want from flowers to photographs as well as how much things can cost. Then w that info make spreadsheet and put 3 figures estimates of low middium high prices of what you liked, then decide higher cost items and lower cost ones and compromises to fit into budget. Handing over all to planners w zero info to navigate that they do not cause you grief and disappointment can destroy relationships.
Good morning Ellen & Cameron 😊 It's so magical how you both met. You're definitely meant to be together. It's super exciting that your plans have started to your wedding day. I'm so happy for the both of you. I can't wait to follow you on this journey. Have a wonderful week ahead ❤x

Why put pressure on short tight time scales to choose planner and budget. Rushing may bring about overlooking so many pitfalls and end up regretting. Take time siffting and testing the planners on the market. And do look fir one that is not "fitting into mould " one. How to have convos with them if you do not know costs of things. They'll get upper hand in every interaction. Do they use own companies the ones they only work with and cost certain amount, or they shop around and have access to various depending on the budget agreed.
That's exactly all the stuff we've been doing over the last four months 😊 i think there's a balance between considering all the options and getting overwhelmed with choice to the point you don't make any decisions. We're super happy with the way its going so far! xxx
So excitiinnnng!!! Lacinia Bridal makes bespoke bridal gowns $2500 CAD for our tier 1 gowns. Would looove to make you a gown for your wedding day. Choose anything you see online in detail explain what you'd like, your measurements and we'll send you swatches matching the look you're going for. It takes about 3 days to ship to the UK.
