He didn't say Eli is top 5. He just said he'd put Eli in the top 5 before ever putting Ben in there. So really, what he actually said is that he has Eli ranked above him.
Ben, most 500 yd games, most 450 yd games, most career perfect games, 6th all time TD passes, 5th all time passing yds, 6th most 4th quarter comebacks, 5th most game winning drives, youngest QB to win the SB, most consecutive wins to start a career or as a rookie, 3 SB games, 2 SB rings.
Brees plays over half his games in a dome more times than not. Say what you will, still perfect throwing conditions. Rivers plays half his games in southern cal. Eli has an argument because he beat the best in the super bowl during the prime of Brady. Ben is in there for sure though
A QB can make all the throws he wants. If there is no receiver to complete the catch, then "all those throws" are useless. QB should never be MVP, unless he displays extraordinary rushing ability. "All those throws" only count when they are caught, so the receiver/catcher is the determining factor. In biochemistry, the receiver would be considered the rate limiting enzyme.
Eli hasn’t aged well but just compare their numbers and think about all the great players Ben has played with and that great organization. While Eli lead two teams to Superbowls, Ben was carried by 2 and he led a still great team to 1
Super bowls should not be a make or break for greatness. They help alot but to dis Rivers because of no Superbowls is unfair. As you stated at the beginning of this Rich its a TEAM sport. That said big Ben is definitely top 5.
Not close. Manning, Brady, Brees, Rodgers, and Rivers are all easily ahead of Ben. Not sure if that ends the list - I see Cam's argument for Eli over Ben - but there's just no way Ben can crack the top-5 because he's behind those 5.
Rivers has played for an would franchise his whole career and put up equal to better numbers them Big Ben and better numbers then Eli. HOF is based on the player not team achievements.
Putting Rivers or Eli in front of Ben for 5th of their era is CRIMINAL. Here's 10 reasons Ben is CLEARLY the best resume of the three. 1.- Since Ben became QB 15 years ago, the Steelers have had ZERO losing seasons. The Chargers have had three. The Giants have had six. 2.- Ben ranks 6th all time in wins. Eli ranks 9th. Rivers ranks 11th. 3.- Ben has 3 Superbowl appearances with 2 rings. Eli has 2 appearances with 2 rings. Rivers have zero appearances and zero rings. 4.- Ben ranks 6th all time in passing yards. Eli ranks 7th. Rivers ranks 8th. 5.- Ben & Rivers are neck and neck in career passer rating (94.2 & 96.0). Eli is wayyyyy behind them at 84.0! 6.- Ben has only had over 16 INT's in a season once. Rivers has had more than that 3 times! Eli has had more than that 5 times! 7.- Ben has comparable stats to Rivers in Yards/TD's/ Completions playing in a brutal weather division. Rivers got his in San Diego (lol). 8.- Eli's greatest Superbowl moment was an up-for-grabs fluke helmet catch. Ben's greatest Superbowl moment was a precise corner pass to win the Superbowl. 9.- Due to his size, the refs have let defenders tee off on Ben throughout his career on plays that would draw roughing calls on Eli or Rivers. 10.- CONSISTENCY. Ben's worst passer rating in the last 10 years is 90.1. Rivers have had 3 seasons below that during that time. Eli has had 5 below that! Let's call a spade a spade. In terms of on-the-field performance, Ben has CLEARLY put together the best resume of the three. But it's popular to downplay Ben's greatness because off the field, he has had some shady incidents, and to the media, he passes blame around and isn't as much of a class act as the other two. Ben is a 1st ballot Hall Of Famer like Terrell Owens was; meaning he probably won't get in on the first ballot because of his off-field reputation, but his talent level certainly deserves it.
My point exactly. People just love to hate ben because of the off the field crap, but on the field he has had a hall of fame resume hands down, and there is absolutely no argument.
@ WP SN, I agree Ben before River & definitely before Eli. However, to say the the refs allow more hits on Big Ben cause he's bigger is just amusing. Both 6'5. Ben 241 Rivers 225. 15 pounds. And the other thing ur not mentioning is that w/all those # differential Rivers hasn't had an offense like Ben has every year. Not to mention he hasn't had a defense like Ben has had every year. Let's not act like he has. The truth is he hasn't. Again I'm not saying he goes in before Big Ben. Let's get that straight right now. Not to mention Rivers has played in every game since 04 & to say he would draw penalties more than Ben because of size , yeah like that most recent helmet to helmet no-call he drew. That's all I'm saying. Ben has year in & out had a very above avg offensive line. Let's be honest about that.
@@OutlookPositive disagree with the above average offensive line comment, ben actually didnt start having a good offensive line until pouncey was drafted, and it was just avg then. Cookiesrfood id rather build around Big Ben. Brees is great and very accurate but Big Ben toughness is da** near unmatched and his play making ability is far better. Honestly it’s a toss up so I’m not mad at either pick it’s about preference
I agree though I would put Big Ben over Wilson for the 5th spot for now simply because he has accomplished more than Wilson has though I think Wilson has the potential to take Ben's spot
I think it's an overrated award. Basically means you had 1 amazing, fantastic year. Doesn't say anything about a career. I mean Rich Gannon, Steve Mcnair, Cam newton and Matt Ryan won Mpvs but none of them have been consistent top 8 Qb's in the league.
@@lokeren14 I agree but same applies to super bowl wins. It only holds any meaning if you have way more than the competition (like Brady with super bowls or manning with mvp's) or none (like Marino with super bowls or brees with mvps)
Vincent B. Matt Ryan has the most consecutive 4500 yard seasons in NFL history. He’s also on pace to finish top 10 in yards and touchdowns. That’s more than one good year.
Doesn't really matter. Everyone is throwing for a zillion yards these days. Did you know Matt Stafford is on pace to be number 1 or 2 in yards and touchdowns? Would hardly consider him an all-time qb. Not saying Matt Ryan is a bad Qb, but there are certainly 7 Qbs I would pick before I pick Matt Ryan.
How in the hell is Rodgers not cemented in there with Manning, Brady, and Brees? Rodgers has the same number of rings as Brees, 2 more MVP's then he does, and the same number as Brady. He also has way more playoff appearances then Brees, and made three NFC championship games.
Top 3 of the generation are Brady, Peyton and Brees. After that you can have more debate. Besides Ben you can put Rodgers, Rivers, Eli, Warner, Palmer, Romo, Ryan and Stafford. (For these proposes I'm saying Favre was previous generation with Wilson and Luck being the next generation) A lot of people will lose their sh!t at the insinuation that Rodgers isn't up with those top 3 so let's just give him 4th to keep the discussion from turing to that. Of the rest the Ben has similar stats to Rivers but has been much more successful and the ONLY thing Eli has on anyone is 2 rings but Ben has the too along with a 3rd SB appearance. Romo put up great numbers when he was playing but missed to many games and is already 2 years into retirement so you have to give him the the representative place for the class of 2004. Palmer is like a less polarizing Romo. Ryan and Stafford would never really get in the discussion at this point but added them to kind of make sure I put in pretty much anyone even on the fringe (They are still young enough to change that narrative though). Warner was probably the best at his peak but the great Ram years were fleeting and had some down years before a 2nd nice stretch with the Cards. So I would say he is at worst the 5th best of the generation heading up a cluster of guys. So while probably the #4-5 guy he is probably closer to like the 8th guy than the 3rd.
At best he's top 7. Manning, Brady, Brees, Rodgers, and Rivers are probably top-5. Then there's Russell Wilson. The R-man isn't as good as any of those 6. So let's not even bother listing the other QBs who bump him down lower than 7.
Well as I said for this exercise I was saying DangerRuss would be in the next generation, and Luck as well. Then obviously anyone newer than them. So I think that the top 3 is unquestionable. Rodgers is probably 4th but he is closer to the pack behind him than the 3 in front. You can argue Rivers over Ben, but it isn't easy. VERY close stats and Ben plays in much tough conditions and has had far more success (Passing stats get inflated on bad teams because they always need to catch up at the end).
@@massachusettssportscentral9444 It's pretty easy to argue Rivers over Roethlisberger: more TDs, less INTs, better completion percentage. 8 Pro Bowls vs 6. Led the league in passing yards, completion percentage, TDs, and passer rating (one year each). Roethlisberger only tied for one (yards, I believe). Individually, every stat demonstrates that Rivers is a better QB than Roethlisberger.
Rivers throws not quite 1 extra TD a year and 1 less INT per year, that isn't all that compelling. He also has a 0.2% edge in completion percentage a Passer Rating 1.8 higher. Ben has more yards and averages a mammoth 0.9 yard per game more while also holding a 0.1 Yard/Attempt lead. If you look at their rushing stats Ben has about 2.5x as many yards and with his 19 to 3 TD lead he has actually accounted for more total TDs than Rivers (underscoring the point that they are really close there). Yes Phil has has a few most statistically impressive seasons with a little more "Black Ink" with some league leading stats, which is certainly a point in his favor but it isn't like he is Brees leading in multiple categories very single year. Statistically they are well within the noise of each other. This isn't like when people will rate Eli over Rivers because of the Super Bowls. He had 8 great games at the best possible time in his career but outside of those Rivers is light years ahead of him.

Top 5 since 2004 Top 2 easily (Peyton, Brady) whichever order u like 3-5 (Big Ben, Rodgers, Brees) 2 me it’s in that order but I wouldn’t argue any other way but it’s no way you can argue any one else since 2004. Russel is great but haven’t accomplished enough yet and still young. Eli has 2 rings but outside of them 2 seasons the rest of his seasons have been basic Phillip Rivers, I love that guy as a competitor and a broncos supporter but he had been wildly inconsistent in his career. Farve: well he only had about 5 good years since 2004 till he retired. Matt Ryan, cam newton: both got mvps but who really cares Matt Stratford: please Mcnabb and romo : good but not enough, mcnabb had about 5 or 6good seasons since 2004 Romo didn’t even win more then 3 playoff games, idk if he mad the playoffs 4 times. He is more known for choking. I don’t know who else to add. Maybe Kurt Warner who made it to the Super Bowl but I can’t get his giants career out my head and him losing his job to Matt leiner (however u spell his name) had about 3 great seasons with the cardinals. Honestly concussions and injuries hurt his career.
Brees has already smacked peyton's career stats how is he better ain't stats just documented individual accomplishments brees going further doing more and staying healthier longer more consistent wtf brees better than Brady in regular season
You do realize that Peyton has almost 400 less pass attempts then Brees?? Brees has the yards but yet Peyton will hold the Td record for another year while Brees will probably will have 500-700 more attempts before he breaks that which tells you Brees throw for a lot of empty yards compared to manning. Brees gone break every record because all he did during his saints career was throw the ball 40-50 times a game.

Cookiesrfood id rather build around Big Ben. Brees is great and very accurate but Big Ben toughness is da** near unmatched and his play making ability is far better. Honestly it’s a toss up so I’m not mad at either pick it’s about preference
Brady, Peyton, Brees, Rodgers, and then either Big Ben or Russell Wilson for the fifth spot since 2004
Joel Smith sounds bout right I love Ben I just hate how ppl try to take his talent away from him like he suck
I agree though I would put Big Ben over Wilson for the 5th spot for now simply because he has accomplished more than Wilson has though I think Wilson has the potential to take Ben's spot
Gotta add McNabb
michael edwards no mcnabb
Umm kurt warner
Most disrespected QB of all time.

Why are we bringing up Philip Rivers?
"never been a league MVP"
Lol Rich just ignores that
I think it's an overrated award.
Well maybe because neither has Brees, Phillip Eli, nor Wilson.
(For these proposes I'm saying Favre was previous generation with Wilson and Luck being the next generation)
A lot of people will lose their sh!t at the insinuation that Rodgers isn't up with those top 3 so let's just give him 4th to keep the discussion from turing to that.
@@massachusettssportscentral9444
It's pretty easy to argue Rivers over Roethlisberger: more TDs, less INTs, better completion percentage.
Can you tell the story of the NFL without Rivers? Yes, Eli ? No. ben ? No
Lol yes Rivers hasn't won anything. Great player but he's a total disappointment in the playoffs
This could be the year. Possibly Rivers’ last chance to make a mark in the postseason, let alone glimpse the Super Bowl.
That doesn't even resemble a logical argument. The case for Rivers being better than Ben is that Rivers is better than Ben; the numbers back it up.
@@SchulzEricT can you tell the story of the NFL without Rivers over the last 15 years yes.... Been... No there for the history (hall of fame) would be incomplete with out him... It's about winning junior not stats....
@@SchulzEricT I'll give you logic bens 55k pass yards to Rivers 54k
Been 360 td 190 int
Rivers 375td 175 int
Rivers got his during garbage time playing from behind.... Been got his winning Superbowl and play off games
All these quarterbacks are better than Big Ben
Peyton Manning
Tom Brady
Drew Brees
Aaron Rodgers
Russell Wilson
Kurt Warner
Since 2011 when Jordan joined the NFL
1. Manning
2. Brady
3. Brees
4. Rodgers
5. Russel
But Drew blew peyton stats out the water drew career ain't over and his health is way better meaning he will go further than peyton has ever been
1. Manning 2. Brady 3. Roethlisberger 4. Rodgers 5. Brees
He better than at least 3 of the names on this list
And manning is the frist one I'll name that brees is better than so if he takes his place that puts him frist right cuz manning owns TD record by like 12 TDs brees will own that by next year mid way and has another healty season to bury the competition Brady will retire soon so nah brees started off behind him this season now he leads by like 7 TDs all time
Leave dat dope alone bra brees better than all these guys if manning's frist hands down

Ben all day top 4-5 easy
Who are you forgetting: Manning, Brady, Brees, Rivers, Wilson, Rogers?
Top 5 since 2004
Top 2 easily (Peyton, Brady) whichever order u like
3-5 (Big Ben, Rodgers, Brees)
2 me it’s in that order but I wouldn’t argue any other way but it’s no way you can argue any one else since 2004.
Russel is great but haven’t accomplished enough yet and still young.
Eli has 2 rings but outside of them 2 seasons the rest of his seasons have been basic
Phillip Rivers, I love that guy as a competitor and a broncos supporter but he had been wildly inconsistent in his career.
Farve: well he only had about 5 good years since 2004 till he retired.
Matt Ryan, cam newton: both got mvps but who really cares
Matt Stratford: please
Mcnabb and romo : good but not enough, mcnabb had about 5 or 6good seasons since 2004
Romo didn’t even win more then 3 playoff games, idk if he mad the playoffs 4 times.
Kenny Domino Brees is not better then Manning, or Brady stop it.
