Cars!!! Huh? Lol. You love them. And you hate them. Sometimes you love to hate them lol. But we love it either way. It's great you have her going. You are going to have alot of fun with that truck.
Seeing you putting on the heads to the, LS engine, reminds me of a story. Back in the late 50s, my dad was building a A altered, drag car. He had a one car garage out back with a gravel floor. He and his buddy were prepping the small block engine for assembly. Me, I was about four-years-old and piddling around the garage with a little broom and dust pan. This is what my dad related to me about the “averted catastrophe.” I was scooping up gravel in my little dust pan, he was about to drop one of the heads one when at the last second, he happened to notice that most of the cylinders on one side, were filled with gravel. Seems I had thought that those open cylinder ports, were a perfect place to fill up with gravel. I lived to tell this tale, lol.
It sounds like it's going to be a beast especially by that smirky little grin of yours and that laugh when she fired up and also tell your oldest daughter I said congratulations on the wedding.
That's going to be a rowdy little tire burner. Lol. I absolutely love it. Great job finishing someone else's project. Anyone who has ever done it knows just how difficult it can be.
Nicely done, through bloopers and all pain involved. My hat is off to you for hanging in there and not giving up. I knew you would eventually figure it out and I’m glad you did. All of it made the video more entertaining and I can’t wait to see the next video on this truck. Thanks again for being yourself which makes your videos worth watching.😅😅😅😅😅
The sweet sound if victory! That cam sounds Rowdy! Might wanna think about putting that brush guard off the parts truck, on that one? It fought you the whole way, but you stuck with it and won! Way to go!
Garth you are doing great and I'm always glad to see you guys working together as a family, give me an update on the Ice Man❤Love Jim J&R mobile service
Heck Yeah man! Now it's time for a good dyno tune, and You should be ready to cruise and do burnouts. As an aside, if that Avalanche doesn't have at least some 3.73 rear gears, I'd be grabbing a set of 4.10’s and really unleashing that combo's potential.
I really like the fact that you got this thing running it was a good series of videos thank you for putting it out hopefully you enjoy this ring for a while. It's always nice having a good travel rig for trip's and local events. Keep up the good work!
Thanks for including the bit about dropping that washer into the intake. I was messing with my daughter’s CR-V, dropped a screw down into the timing cover (forgot to stick shop towels into the opening), then broke the timing cover taking it off after I missed a bolt. That was a week long delay in a simple afternoon job! Nice to see a guy with your experience can make a similar mistake!
You should put that cattle guard bumper on the truck your putting the rebuilt engine in. Your Hauling it of for scrap anyways. This is why I like my old 78 Chevy G20 van No computers to mess with things. Keep up the great work I really enjoy your shows. Would you have any old Chevy van body parts, Im trying to find head light bezels and a sliding door with no window.
Loved the video 👍 have to say I’m happy to see an avalanche worth saving being saved truth be told an avalanche 2500 with a 8.0 or Duramax swap Is one of my dream trucks next to an old-school 350 in a 80s Chevy S10 or a GMC S15.
aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh man i hate when that happens, and believe me it happens. little tip for motor working, when intake is off tape up the intake ports until intake ready to put back on.
Serious dude. Only I'm allowed to do screw ups like that. Lol😅. I put a new vlutch in vonnected every thing up and found that I had forgotten to put the trust bearing in. 😂 😅🤣🤣🤣😂🤣
One reason I like driving my narrow Metro and especially narrow Datsun F-10 more than my wide Dodge W150/225 is that narrow cars can pass the many bicycles in Asheville NC, where fullsize pickups often get stuck behind bicycles and mopeds for miles on the narrow mountain roads, though at least my 225 engine is more efficient at bicycle speeds. So this isn't a major factor in your area?
@@garthsgraveyardgarage I am describing cyclists who are trying to stay out of the way, since even narrow cars can't pass lane control cyclists on a double yellow or blind curve. Only motorcycles can do that. Tractors are similar in the country, though usually wider, they need similar consideration and patience, and cars need to leave earlier because of them. Both are reasons to drive cars that are efficient at 10mph.
take you back to when old school meant old school 454 bored to a 525 fast race cams edelbrok cabs . then todays cars now are computerized wherer would todays cars be if the internt was down for ever and computers failed to work and these Ev cars pffft not going ther yup I want old school dirty jeans torn t shirts asnd long night with friends lov your videos Garth ^5 thank you hurry up and start the Nova project
If I had a channel, dropped a washer into the head, and then sliced my finger, YT would boot me off and tell me not to come back. I’d have to have an HBO channel.
So how many days did this take ? I might have a valve tick on my 05 avalanche and im finding out it might be cheaper to get a junkyard motor and i was gonna refresh/upgrade that and swap the motors over since mine has 351km

There’s got to be some more good stuff than just the engine. That grill guard would look good on the avalanche.
It's bent up and missing pieces.
Great video. I love the way you don’t show us the “boring stuff”. Some of them show every bolt, every spark plug, etc.
There's nothing better than overcoming a frustrating problem especially wiring issues, dig your content keep it up ....
Doing an awesome job putting in the motor specially when your doing it yourself 👍🏻
Appreciate it!
There's that little Riley. She is so cute. Love you guys and your videos.

Sounds like that cam didn't get it's name for nothing. The sound put a smile on my face.
Mine too! 😁
Dropping that washer in the cylinder is something that I would do.But the good thing is you caught it.
My first time in 30+ years of working on stuff! I disappointed myself! 😬
That cam makes that engine sound so good
The sweet sound if victory! That cam sounds Rowdy!

You've done a wonderful job on that engine. Thank you for sharing 👌 😊
Congratulations on getting it finally started. Sounds almost like the Zombug which happens to be my favorite vehicle.
I spent 6 years of my military career in Texas,I loved it there.

Man I’ve been there! Dropping that washer down the intake was all too familiar…Glad you found it eventually anyways.
Sleeping in does happen when a person is tired
Love your "special key 🔑 " for the hame warden truck. 😂😂😂😂. That is awesome 👌 😮😅
That first breath of life makes it all worth it
Keep it coming..... thing sounds wild.
I suddenly like Avalanches 😁
Love the lovely Loretta

That grille guard is shot. I haven't had any vans in a long time, so no spare parts for that. Sorry!
Just awesome content. It's a brave man who rebuilds a computer controlled engine. I'd be so tempted to retro fit a carburettor.
The motor sounds fantastic.. Lon from Ohio...
Y'all have a good Halloween I know it's coming up soon be safe walking around❤
Awesome job Garth I knew you would figure it out
Man bro, I’m sorry to hear that! That’s a hell of a day….

Great job. It sounds good 👍👍

Good deal
Sorry about your luck with the washer & your finger!
I think that thing is going to sound great when it's turned I might like to put that cam in my ls swap 71 cutlass
The straight exhaust with long tube headers definitely add to the sound of it.

Out here in the country, this is the land of big trucks. Most cyclists know to stay out of the way.

May I ask why the name it loretta
Not exactly sure why I landed on it, but it comes from a funny scene in the movie 'Rhinestone'.
Oh I see you have the habit I do lol thanks
I have a truck like the one in urban cowboy I call it sissy so I get it
That's a good one!
Burn out next?.
Maybe after we get the cam broken in 😁
Shou;ld change,it too NFI, instruction.
And it needs a muffler
Nah 😁
Those pesky ground wires! They either keep it from coming out or keep it from starting.

It can be done in a day, but we did it in 3 days due to scheduling.
