Thanks for sharing these wonderful nostalgic images. Brought back many happy childhood memories. It is very kind of you to share them with other people for their enjoyment
I returned to the Island last week after 4 years absence. Thank you so much for this wonderful video. It just makes everything right again. I like the new Ben-my Chree but there is NO substitute for the old ships. I have all the postcards stuck up around my desk and every day I think about them. My great uncle was Chief Engineer Percy Howard from Birkenhead on Mona's Isle 1937. Anyone any information?
finest ships afloat back then!!, My personal favourite of ALL time was Mona's Queen's sister Lady Of Mann!!!!! The biggest EVER mistake the steam packet made letting her go!! To this day, the Liverpool waterfront isn't the same. She would rock it out in anything in her way and by God I've been in a storm ten with her and was so ill, had to see the purser to get a cabin!!!
I took the Monas Queen from the West Float, Birkenhead, around to Manila. We refuelled at Las Palmas,Malta,Djibouti,Sri Lanka and finally Singapore. That was in 1996.I was her 3rd Engineer and that vessel never missed a beat. Even the Swedish Captain was doubly impressed with her. Happy Days........
@@tba8241 oh I agree 100% they were in a class of there own them two! Beautiful looking ships too I was devastated when they went I really was, my big sadness was after the lady had her '89 refit, the Queen remained original. I remember them both double berthed at West float asking the security if he would take me to see her one last time but he wouldn't. I'm tearful now saying it
Remember coming back to Liverpool after a particularly bad crossing force 8 I think, and the crew opening all the hatches and hosing all the sick into the Mersey, the seagulls had a feast,oh those memories,
