Thank you so much for sharing your infinite knowledge! Your videos are so informative and you have a gift for teaching! I have always wanted to try to move from realism to abstract (as those seem to be the ones that sell) and now I know where to start!
Awesome as always. My request is....can you please tell me how to create a semi abstract type painting wherein the painted theme is more identifiable yet abstractish( a sunset/ seascape for example) even to a layman. Thanks 🙏😊
Have you had a look at J. M. W. Turner's paintings and prints? "The Wreck of a Transport Ship", "Sea View", "Burning Ship", "The Fighting Temeraire", "Snow Storm", "The Dark Rigi", and "Whalers" and "Fishermen at Sea" would with this lady's lessons on abstract art would be really helpful. Studying Turner's seascapes in chronological order while focusing on Line, Notan, and Colour in Turner's work would highlight how these could be abstracted. Turner wasn't an abstract painter per se, but he had ongoing eyesight problems in the latter part of his life and this affected his technique, which influenced the impressionists that followed him. Good luck.
Thanks Dianne! More Quick Tips and a full video concerning this topic - Abstract painting - with the result of a finished painting would be helpful. I am aware that Serie 23 concerning this topic already exist.
Karl, Abstract painting is a broad field as there are multiple approaches to abstracting. Can you tell me specifically what you would like to see addressed.
Karl, with that as your objective, a good thing to do right now is to go to the early 20th century abstract masters - de Kooning, Pollock, Rothko, Still, Motherwell (to name just a few), take them one at a time and study their process. Abstract painting is a huge subject with many approaches, so understanding what the early masters were doing with it can give you a real head start.
Thanks a lot dear master. Great lesson. Now is it possible to develop the abstract painting of level 1 to realism instead of abstract level 2. I understand that to do a painting first we block in an abstract design and then develop it to realism again.
Reza, it's just a good way to begin and assure a unified composition, but there are many ways to begin and accomplish the same thing. I suggest mastering one at a time to find the one that works best for you.
Thank you so much for the video. It's one of the best and helpful tip. Something I've been missing really . Do you consider this painting done? If not, how do you continue developing it without loosing it's abstract character. Would more details makes it realistic? Or more like impressionist?
Thank you for this quick tip and the prior one. My personal opinion, Just Experiment. I love that you have foundational information, and that you have the quick tips. However, one just needs to paint. Look at your subject matter, and paint what you see - lights and darks - In abstraction one is getting to the essence of the subject, saying something with the least amount of detail.
Cordialement, Yves

Excellent. Going to put this into practice. I think this will help me a ton!
Practice will always get it done.
Thank you Dianne. I had no idea on how to start an abstraction and this has inspired me to give it a go.
It's fun to do and can stimulate a lot of ideas.

So clearly explained great lady xx
Thanks.😊
Love this lesson. Got. Lot from it.
Great!
Thanks so much, Dianne, great video. Could you do the same using watercolour?
Oh yes! You can use this principle with any color medium.
Thanks Dianne! More Quick Tips and a full video concerning this topic - Abstract painting - with the result of a finished painting would be helpful. I am aware that Serie 23 concerning this topic already exist.

I want to learn the "multiple approaches" to abstracting to get an abstract painting.
This Quick tip an Serie 23 are a very good start.

Excellent, as usual! Can you do a quick tip on Keying ? I tend to key too dark and lwould like to know how to key appropriately. Thank you.
That's an interesting one. I'll put keying on our schedule.
Well, I'll be. That was superb, as was #166!
A bit of reinforcement there.😊

this is. real good. tituriol. nice painting. thank you. ,
My pleasure.
Thank you Dianne. Can you continue this into a demonstration of painting alla prima general to specific?
I'm not sure there's time in a Quick Tip to do that. Perhaps I could show how it would work with a single shape. I'll put that idea on our schedule.
Thank you so much for the video. It's one of the best and helpful tip. Something I've been missing really .

🌹🌹🌹❤️❤️
So glad you changed the last light shape.. reminded me of a bird and that bothered me until you changed it.
😊
thankyou mam. i can understand a little

Yep.
Great lesson. But the intro music is somewhat boring.
It is what it is to the ear that hears it 😊
"LEAVE that right there..." heh
🙂
