    I feel like this situation could have been resolved if there was a temple that contributed to all of the Olympians in the first place instead of having people pick a side. It was clear that the people benefited from both Poseidon and Athena. What's to stop someone from praying to both Athena and Poseidon at the same time? This was simply family drama and bad judgement at the end of the day.

      Well, the (extremely vengeful) goddess of wisdom was the one to show up to challenge Poseidon, so I’m feeling like common sense and compromises weren’t easily attained there.

      @@Initiallyleo True but it doesn't change the fact that not everyone benefited from Poseidon's blessings. Some people have lifestyles that require working and traveling on both land and sea. The Gods know this because they are known to interact with mortals rather it's investigating cannibals, sleeping with other people's wives, aiding heroes and demigods, or turning an arrogant weaver into a spider.

      So this doesn't get talked about much but there were parts of the Parthenon dedicated to Poseidon like the three holes thought to be where Poseidon struck His trident. He was still worshipped :)

    Poseidon, initially disappointed by his loss, eventually accepted the decision, respecting the wisdom of Cecrops' choice. He realized that Athens, under Athena's guidance, would flourish not through military might but through the pursuit of knowledge, harmony, and the cultivation of its land.

    • @k.t.a5524
      @k.t.a5524 6 місяців тому +2

      Thus, the city of Athens was born, not from a clash of titans, but from a peaceful contest between two powerful deities. The choice between Poseidon's seawater and Athena's olive tree reflected the city's values, prioritizing wisdom, peace, and self-sufficiency over mere power and control.
      And so, Athens emerged as a beacon of enlightenment, a city where the pursuit of knowledge and the cultivation of its land became the cornerstones of its greatness.

    Hopefully Poseidon would get over losing Athens because he would get to be the patron god of Taras (modern day Taranto). This city was founded in 706 BC by Greek colonists, ironically by Athen's arch-enemy, Sparta. In Greek mythology, Taras was a son of Poseidon and a local nymph by the named Satyrion. One day Taras found himself shipwrecked out at sea, and his father sent a dolphin to rescue him. Taras rode the dolphin all the way to the coast of southern Italy. There he founded a settlement that would become the city of Taras. The Tarantines were famous for having a strong naval tradition, as well as for breeding superb warhorses (two blessing Poseidon is best known for). They even built a grand temple to Poseidon, the ruins of which still exist today.

    So basically, this turned into a man versus woman situation? No thought whatsoever into which god would've been the better choice. Everyone, from mortal to god, just chose to align with their own interests. Zeus kinda messed up not presenting the case

    • @wildmen5025
      @wildmen5025 6 місяців тому +1

      Zeus probably stayed out of it because it's a conflict of interest. One person is His daughter and the other is His brother. It would be wrong to make a decision without being approached first

    0:00🤩 Wow! Now that was beautiful City of Attica and there was a man had Serpents' tail. People collect food taken from sea and see Cult of Poseidon. Seriously The God of the Sea arrive wanted a city and people see him from sea.
    0:43 All citizen of Attica see him. Poseidon's words and gift to all people of Attica "The City of Poseidonia." Did he just hit the ground with his Trident and a fountain of salt water began to gush forth.
    1:13 What the!? Athena appear in the middle of the light and arrive already surprised by Poseidon's visit.
    1:39 All citizen of Attica see her. Athena's words and gift to all people of Attica. Really Goddess struck her spear to the ground like Poseidon did. There are more women than men in the city Athena won.
    2:43 What the heck are they doing!? People of Attica are watching Athena and Poseidon are fighting but dispute was interrupted by bolt of Zeus. Zeus arrive and a word like Athena do.
    3:19 Athena and Poseidon are on Mount Olympus. Zeus was the head of the meeting and allowed the other gods to decide on the subject. Athena was the winner by only one vote of difference.
    Now City of Attica came to be known as Athens.
    3:48 Awesome so they build a beautiful Temple on top the Acropolis in her honor. All citizen of Attica to be known as City of Athens. That was Statue of Athena alright. Just like other Statue of Zeus, Hera, and Apollo.
    4:06 Some citizen went Oracle of Delphi and the Pythia told them.
    4:19 👍All citizen of Athens to seal the peace between Athena and Poseidon built in honor of the God at Cape so they make better future humanity will endure. Now they can make vote in the future what's next.
    👏👏Well done. They did it. That was impressive story of Athena Vs Poseidon The Clash of Gods The Origin of the City of Athens in Animated Version. All humanity should remember Athena and Poseidon actions came to City of Attica with vote to win. They need to vote what's President next and make better future what comes next. I hope they do what right things without the Gods and let humanity making idea with knowledge is power in history for the future.

    No Greek city states gave women the right to vote. Only true born adult males were considered citizens of a city state. As they were entitled to take part in meetings in the agora and vote on issues concerning their polis. This applied to all city states throughout the ancient Greek world, and not just Athens.
