Flew from Ireland to Kampala in exactly one hour and five seconds. Totally blown away this vehicle is a game changer, making the flight sim world smaller than ever
Hey Deez. It was built, but it was just a prop or model. In a News letter or what the Director said, they clearly said that "We built a full scale model"
This plane is a hoot. I play only in VR and I'm having lots of trouble landing it smoothly, but being able to soar along at 5600 knots is cool as hell.
@@b9y I don't know how to use ILS or anything yet. I kinda know how to land supersonic planes from XPlane's SR-71, but I don't know what the stall speed is on the Darkstar so I usually drop it like a brick too hard onto the tarmac. I can always get it to stop before overrunning at least, though.
Fun _speculation_ : There is a strong probability that this is the current and final Lockheed SR-72 design iteration, but for obvious reasons, no one can admit it on public.
I think the other rumor is that the SR-72, if any equivalent exists, is optionally manned. I just don't see what the usefulness is over satellite-based options for one to exist--can synthetic aperture captures even work at that speed?
@@zacharymoskowitz7802 it didn't for me on pc either until I clicked on the maverick challenges and doing so downloads new stuff and there is a darkstar challenge or something which I clicked on and and then it I could use it in normal world flight.
If you fly with this plane at max speed ant altitude (FL275) straight over the North Pole the sim gets a bit weird. It keps turning you around in a loop. You can only escape using slew mode.
I wish X-Plane had these stuff that msfs 2020 has. I'm not leaving X-Plane but it'd be really cool to have these fictional aircraft as free addons and for them to have high quality cockpits. And more than that I wish X-Plane had synthetic vision. That would really help in low visibility IFR approaches. It would be even cooler to fly the sr72 in X-Plane as you have no height limit. Imagine if they added the moon back to X-Plane then you could fly to the moon in like 10hrs or less in this plane.
@@victrixsvs not really, if you want resolution of objects to be lower than half a centimeter you need to be closer, modern spy satellites have a ground resolution of 0.5-1cm to distinguish some specific targets ground resolutions of less than a millimeter would be needed

That pitched down is a scramjet transition since you need speed to ram the air and get the pressure you need I think the nose cone in the engine is not adjustable for the SR-72 that's why you need to do that kind of technical things instead of just pressing a button and speed up to mach 3
China Lake is actually closer to Bakersfield than San Diego and is actually about 5 miles from Edward's AFB. Bakersfield is about a 4.5 hour drive from San Diego. But both the OG Top Gun and Maverick were filmed in San Diego. Fun Fact: Not to flex but I was an extra in the movie and you can find me in the Ceremony Scene as an attendee. I watched the credits just to see my name so I can brag about it and I was not credited. I wanted to make it big and well I guess I kinda did since I actually made it into the final cut. I wish I was credited tho
The reason you couldn't land is that you didn't do the scramjet transition steps properly; it wants you to follow through the objectives on the "checklist" before it'll instruct on the next phase of the flight. Technically you only need to flip the scramjet switch (after opening the fuel cell) to use the scramjets (engines 3-4), but the mission has you light up two beacons first, presumably so that other planes know to stay far away from you. After that the mission has you level off pretty low, FL1250, until it's time for the approach; the scramjets get flipped back off once the air thickens, and you make a pretty smooth approach into Canaveral, coming in on a downwind as you go subsonic, then base turn at 10000, then final at 3000, and touchdown. Also, if you haven't already, you shouks give the ornithopter a go! The Coriolis Storm Rescue mission is insane...
True, but fleshy pilots (and sometimes sensitive equipment) generally do not like negative g's (basically doing an extreme nose down maunuver) the body is a lot better suited for doing a positive 3g turn than a negative 2 g turn. This maneuver is likely to simply ensure pilot health and comfort, as Lockheed Martin designed this with some genuine effort. TL:DR In MFS2020 you can skip inverting, but the maneuver exists for realism, specifically to avoid negative g's which are generally frowned upon in military aviation.
@@Cptn.Viridian I agree with you, avionics can be very sensitive ! But when did you think when you travel between 0g or -1g it can still be as bad for instruments ?

The inlets are more efficient at higher speeds, that is the reason for the dive. It needs the dive to get into efficiency range.
