I never imagined that I would say this, but Yamcha finally looks like one of the coolest characters. His attacks, his supers, how he comes to a fight... All looks perfect

The game did him justice unlike literally everything else
Yamcha IS one of the coolest characters in the franchise. Not his fault writers seem to have a hate-on for him, or that Saiyans are walking cheatcodes.

He's not top tier. His damage is weak. He's the best at opening them up but not top tier. He's good though :)

A small detail you missed: When you time the button presses for the Wolf Fang Fist extensions with the final hit of the previous part, it deals some extra damage (around 200 total in a perfectly executed sequence). A little reward for not torturing innocent buttons.
And you can also drop your true combo if you take too long. A nice risk/reward mechanic. I had not noticed that

One thing I like to do with the Spirit Ball is, if they block the first hit, stop pressing the button for a second, to make them think you're finished, drop their guard, then bring it back to hit them. It requires some timing, and doesn't always work, in case they don't drop their guard, but it's better than just letting it go to waste. As a Yamcha main, I find it REALLY satisfying to pull off, and makes me feel like a sneaky little shit.

I've tried ki blast, beams, cells supers, vegetas beams, goku supers, nothing did it.

He's pretty good. He's one of my main. One of my favourite combos is: press light attack till you get the super dash, press twice light attack and then qcb+medium to knock hard your opponent and once you reach the floor use a level 1 or 3 super.

If you don't open them up with the first hits of light combo he has 2 or three breaks in animation where you can cancel into vanish.

The God finally got a breakdown! I've been waiting for this for so long! I've been playing Yamcha since day 1 but haven't been able to do it right, because I thought there were only two phases of Wolf Fang Fist, and I had no idea Gale Claws M had a hard knockdown. Thank you so much, Globby!
you can also cancel out of any of his WFF attacks with an additional hit of the heavy and he'll jump straight to the finisher, which still takes a bar, but means you can do the full heavy attack on a medium initiation. also, I don't remember how I managed this, but I think you can straight up cancel his WFF and re-initiate with a new combo string, so you could get a free crossup and cancel it into an overhead or something. also also, you can chain his full WFF into his ultimate wolf fang fist and have a 20 second howl-fest while you pummel your opponent
aaaaand he covered that. nevermind...
Let this be a lesson to always finish the video before commenting. And about the last part of your comment, are you talking about Yamcha's Final Combo Challenge, from the game?
i love these videos, even though i may not use most of these characters, it helps me understand what i am fighting

Yamcha-sama, I have been waiting for you.
One detail that I find really useful with Wolf Fang Fist: you can cancel the heavy finisher at any point. This was mentioned in the video, but what was not shown was that you can immediately cancel into it for a near-full screen punish that is also a combo starter. Very good for punishing opponents throwing out moves from far away.

Back when this game just came out I legit used Trunks, SS Vegeta, and Yamcha and those became my mains since I was shit at using Krillin. My friend literally made fun of me for using him and I ended his whole career every time I used him. It would come down to just Yamcha every time and I would decimate him and anybody else that dared to mock my boi Yamcha. He may not hit very hard but that don't matter if the other person can't even get a hit in
The EX version of Gale Claw also has faster start-up.

The heavy wolf fang fist starter seems to end by knocking the opponent down instead of like the heavy finisher which launches into the air
The Medium finisher has the same effect tho

You can follow up after Yamcha's kamehameha in the corner but you have to be fast also you can use the heavy version of gale claws as an anti air or reversal though I'm not sure about the reversal part
I found yamcha stupidly god tiers atm, he has EVERYTHING !
I think you forgot to mention that he can do an instant Flash followup if you do light or medium starters and input heavy before the animation starts.

Yamcha was my favorite character from the Original Dragon Ball, along with Krillin. I always felt bad how he was "written off" in the DBZ series. But im glad that he is given more shine in the games.

In terms of following up after the wolf fang flash, any tips on connecting a normal after that? the dash seems to only come out when it wants, and then 2m misses and they recover sometimes as well. beyond hitting training mode, any tips?
+emeka thomas one of his combo challenges teaches you to follow that up with another WFF. There's also assists, but I guess that will depend on your team. And ofc vanish also works
You should have mentioned his jump heavy which is his main approach means.

I still can't land the level 3 after the level 1 any tips I do the hard knock down but it won't let me do it

It’s not called the ultimate Wolf fang fist it’s called the Neo wolf fang fist
In his super move list, it calls it "Ultimate Wolf Fang Fist", but Yamcha says "Neo Wolf Fang Fist". It's like when Goku says his Kamehameha when his move 1 Ki move is actually called Super Kamehameha.
What does qcb s do. It looks like some type of kick move.

Do you have some tips for people struggling with the circle-based controls? In 4 of 5 tried my try to use those circle moves it fails because my controller won‘t recorgnize that I made this circle and it’s kinda frustrating to have this luck-factor if my super will appear or my fighter just rush forwards >.>
I tried it with the cross as well as with the stick, same shitty result :-(
Arokarion try using the d-pad, it's alot more accurate

It fails similar often with the d-pad as with the stick, I place my finger in the same position of IGNs videos where you can see the controller
