I will definitely cross my fingers!!!!!!!!
You are such a nice friend of our beautiful NATURE!!!!!!!!!!
I try my best, but I'm still learning how to do it right.
Aww too bad. I went and checked my pond this morning and saw a few tadpoles swimming around. Its been pretty cold still though. Good job! Loving this years' watch!
Thanks! Hopefully it all goes well from this point on.
Aww... the poor things. Well, I hope that this’ll all work! Great job anyway!
I'm hopeful the tadpoles will do well
Poor froggos. You are doing a great job, keep at it
Even though this is the 5th year I've done this, I'm still learning how to do it right, and sometimes it does things I don't expect.
I'm no expert either but I would say that when you collect the frogspawn collect a gallon of pond water too. Each day change a 1/4 of the water for fresh pond water. Pond water has more in it than rain water or treated tap water.
Honestly, that's a pretty good idea. One of the best sources of water is the original pond.
You did everything you could x
It's a learning process. Luckily, I haven't had this happen to me again.
put less water in or float the spawn. you can gently add more water as they turn into froglets. i think they suffocated from lack of oxygen
I actually think there may have been an issue with the water quality. I will be much more careful with my water in future to make sure it doesn't happen again.
Poor froggies... As every video of yours, this one is awesome! Could you maybe do a season 2 of ARK Zoo? Maybe an ARK Safari
Thanks!
As for Ark Zoo 2, I'm not sure what's going to happen with that. I'm planning out my thoughts for future videos, but I've not got anything definite sorted out yet. I have ideas, just need to work out the details.
The frog spawn I found didn’t make it think it was lying in the grass to long before I found it they all turned white and mouldy looking , will just need to go to the pond and have a look 👀
Ah, that's a shame. Hopefully you'll still get a nice population of tadpoles at the pond.
If you didn’t have a filter or oxygen system last year it could be the common denominator so it could be the reason for the failure because they’re technically fish at the early stages as u know
I've never used a filter and this is the only time I've had spawn failure like this. If I remember correctly, I think I put it down to poor water quality. I think the chlorine treatment I did was not sufficient. Ever since this happened, I've been much more careful with my chlorine treatment and it's not happened since.
Nature does as Nature will. What is the name of your Co-Presenter at the beginning of the clip?
That was Charlie. He's not a very good co-presenter. I tried for ages just to get him to sit next to me while I did the intro, but he was having none of it!
Hope all goes well
Me too. I think the tadpoles will be okay now.
Maybe you could add an air pump with an air stone for oxygenation in the water get a clamp if the bubbles are to rapid it will also give surface agitation for gas exchange too standing water goes stagnant faster 🙂
I've never found I need one. The water at the moment (about 6 weeks after this video) is completely clear and I've only done one water change in that time.
It's awesome what your doing frogs and toads are so squishy and cute lol
The same happed to me and there was all of the tadpoles on the floor looking dead but then they are all alive
It's happened before, gives me scare every time! But after a couple of minutes they're swimming around.
I have had frogspawn before and the usually die if they are shaded 24/7 the would require sunlight at least a little to survive
Yes, that is true. I've had issues with that too. The room I keep them in does get very sunny, so they should be okay. But that is something to keep in mind.
Mine has done the same... very odd
I tried to google search for the reason, but I couldn't find any answers. So I really don't know what went wrong.
Shredder - Gaming For Science I have just looked today and so far they have all survived, wriggling and are hiding in the dead plant matter in my wildlife pond. Fingers crossed🤞🤞🤞
Maybe you should have used water from the pond
Yeah, pond water is always a good source to use if possible. Unfortunately the logistics of carrying home 12 litres of pond water just wasn't possible. Also the pond water is filthy, you'd never see anything.
When u started ark zoo
I think you need make the eggs flouting or very little water, so the eggs will not spoilt.
Once they sink there's not much you can do to keep them floating. But I don't think it does them any harm anyway.
@@GregsWildlife I've finally got some spawn but it has sunk to the bottom of the aquarium. I really hope they don't fail!
I honestly don't think sinking is an indication of failure.
Out of a batch of 50 eggs only 3 made it!! .....that was collected 2 weeks ago at Hemel Hempstead....however, even now i cannot find any frogspawn in Huntingdon or St Neots 🫤@GregsWildlife
A ventriloquist dummy came into your house at night and scared the tadpoles and they died of shock inside the jelly..This happened to me in Colorado..🐸🐸🐸🐸🐸🐸🐸🐸🐸🐸🐸🐸🐸🐸👾👾👾👾👾🐸🐸🐸🐸🐸🐸👾👾👾🙀🙀🙀
It's one possibility, I suppose!
never use tapsafe
What's wrong with tap safe? I've used it for the last few years and it seems fine, have you had a different experience?
They may have died because of the water might have been tap water
It's possible. I'm trying to remember what I said about it in this video. I think I left it for a couple of days so it should have been alright. But I found out this year that the advice I'd always gone by of leaving tap water 24 hours isn't long enough. I'd now recommend at least 48 hours, or more to be safe.
@@GregsWildlife it's worth doing some research with your local water board, many areas of the UK use chloromine now to sterilise water, no matter how long you leave it it'll never gas off.
@@matthewsmith22 Thankfully I researched and came across this so I used a de chlorinator liquid from Amazon
It is 2 in the morning and I am very emotional I cannot handle the deaths of tadpoles rn.
My apologies. Watch the next episode, there are some happily swimming (and alive) tadpoles to see.
I think you needed swamp water
It may have been bad water quality. Although I thought I had left it long enough, but looking back it may have still had too much chlorine in it. I won't make that mistake again. (Although swamp water wouldn't help xD they would need pond water, or rain water).
You sure about dat?
Yes. They're not a swamp dwelling species. There's no swamps where I live.
Ok one thing to say ?they all hachted in the swamp water and they were fine -w-
Yu could have gotten pond water tho
First
I've been waiting for this
Hope it was worth the wait!
@@GregsWildlife ioh it was
Should of just left them in their natural habitat
We learn by doing and observing. It's likely the spawn would have failed anyway.
Let's close all the zoos and all the conservation projects around the world then and never have any interaction with wildlife and leave them to fend for themselves. Oh and let's also deprive millions of people of some joy in their lifes while caring for wildlife and helping to boost their declining numbers
