- finally after almost a year riding this bike with 4k+ miles it started giving me issues. this is the CS20 e-bike in started giving me issues at 4k meliles. The problem I'm having is that the throttle cuts off while riding. after the 7th or 8th time it cuts off the bike dies completely and there is no power. it will not turn on. it turns on when I plug in the charger. the voltage reads 52v when it turns off. battery is 72v. this happens after about 10miles in.

Could the motor be overheating
Unplug the motor cable at the back of the motor and plug back in. ... That is what they say on the site.... I think maybe bad connection on one of your wire connections or you have a positive wire grounding on the frame. but maybe it could also be grounded windings in the motor.
The wires go out from inside the motor straight to the controller. There are 3 phase wires for the motor and there is a connector from the motor I believe is for the halt sensor, temperature sensors etc. But the only way to disconnect the motor is from the speed controller. I'll try that to see what happens and I'll check all the wiring.. Thank you.
@@dennis_503_gutierrez I never worked on or even owned electric bike but assume there is definitely a short in the system wiring somewhere or like I said earlier, it could be a shorted out motor causing the issue. Disconnect the battery and use an ohm meter to check continuity between the positive wire of the system and the negative wire .
@@daniel73minshall This is my first ebike and I'm just learning this stuff. What you telling me makes sense. I'll check continuity between positive and negative and I'll check the motor and controller side as well.. thanks.
I wanted to ask what is name of the brand of the bike? Is it from Alibaba or is it a ESTRAPZ bike?
Hi this one is from Alibaba. Estrapz bikes are similar but looks like they have better parts and that makes them more expensive.
Users of Motors overheating or the wires that come from the motor aren't thick enough may look at the wires on the motor cuz it sounds like you're shutting down in your motor is overheating it's getting too hot
I have the same problem on my ebike. Except it happened after about 120 miles on it. I replaced the battery as well and it didn't help. I am still trying to figure it out as well.
120 miles? Wow that was too soon. I found out 2 things. The new battery I installed I opened it to see if there was a short inside and I found that the nickel plates were burned out on 2 cells. Those nickel strips for red hot at some point that it kind of burned thru the protective case. Found the BMS was only 40A discharge. These bikes need 100A-200A depending on the BMS and battery discharge current. We all know the cells loose amperage after many miles so I'm going to try to lower the Amps on the speed controller to 100A with the same old battery to see what happens. Your battery may have lower amp BMS but you need to open it to find out.
@@dennis_503_gutierrez Don't feel bad guys I just assembled my 8000w stealth bomber and I was only able to ride it for half a mile the throttle completely cut out
@@banneduser978 Did it show any error code on your display?
@@dennis_503_gutierrez no it doesn't show the error code but the throttle is completely dead I 'am wondering if it's some kind of a sensor perhaps
@@banneduser978 ok.. once in a while it happens to me too. While riding specifically when going uphill the throttle cuts off and there is no error on the display. I have to turn it off and back on for the throttle to work again. Doesn't happen all the time but it happened like 3 times already. Ill see what i find out and ill share it..
So what's it the motor that was the problem?
Please get back to me. Let me know. Do I have the exact same bike?
Hi. The problem was the battery BMS..
Mine is doing the same crap…it will power on, and you can ride it….but it just cuts out, and goes completely dead, I did have battery connector issues.
I decided to eliminate the shitty T-90 connectors….and hard wire it to test for a bad connector….if it still does it, I’m going to rule it as a bad battery BMS or dead cell…mine has 242miles on it.
If hard wiring it fixes it….I will order better battery connections.
Yes probably the BMS is lower amperage but you need to open the battery to see it. I did change the amps on the controller from 150A to 100A and it worked longer riding time but it happened again. This was with my new battery so I decided to open the battery to see if there was any shorts and found the nickel plates were burned up and the BMS was 40A max.
@@dennis_503_gutierrez I found the issue….the battery was tested’ including the BMS’ it turned out to be a bad speed controller. The cheap battery connectors was the cause, the connector developed a short circuit, and fried the speed controllers mosfit.
When I plugged the battery back in….I heard a loud pop, and the speed controller failed to come on….I retested the battery, and it still tested good….it still charges, and stops when it gets to 84V.
@@ebperformance8436 nice.. I don't have that issue with the controller. It turns on normally. Now I'm curious to open the speed controller.
Did you ever find out what the problem was with your bike
Hi. Yes. The problem was the battery. I uploaded a video explaining the issue.
Those are 19” or 17” wheels ???
19 inch wheels
Please let us know. I am looking to buy this same bike
As soon I find out whats wrong I'll let you know..
I found the issue. I uploaded a video explaining my findings.. thanks...
Check rotor not cutting wire harness coming out of hub
Yes I did and seems ok and clears about 1mm away and wires look ok. I have the batteries open at the moment inspecting them for any shorts.
Hope u get it straightened out, we all feel ur pain trust me
@@CaptainCurt07 thanks. Yes I miss riding this thing. While in the process trying to find this issue, I have learned how everything works and how easy is to build these EBikes. Most important, I learned how the batteries are built. Very easy, time consuming, expensive, but is worth to learn how to build your own battery.
Did you get the problem fixed?
Yes. It was the battery. I made a video explaining the battery issue.
Thank you
Where did you buy the new battery?

@@johnny1902 Hi Johnny.. thats the link.. hopefully it helps. Battery is high quality..
Take a look at the wires leading from the motor something's getting too hot and shutting down I'm draining the batteries
Hello Mike. Thank you..
Bypass the battery bms . Just use the bms for charging. Seldom the motor is the problem. They either work or they don’t work at all.
That would be my next step. By I'm going to try to lower the DC current from 150 to 100 on the controller. I found out the cells loose amperage after certain amount of charge cycles. We'll see if it works.. thanks for your help.
@@dennis_503_gutierrez I build ebikes and battery packs . Let me know if I can help.
@@Strange_Brew you do? Yes I need lots of help here. email me, maybe you can build a battery for me.. deennissegutierrez@gmail.com
That’s what I’m planning on doing with mine….Going to make sure it’s not the shitty T 90 battery connections.
Would a bad cell cause the e-bike to shut down? I’m guessing it’s either my BMS or bad cell on mine
@@ebperformance8436 yes. I learned that if the pack voltage or cells discharge to 3.2v or less the BMS will turn off to protect the battery. That's because batteries loose capacity and discharge faster after many charge and discharge cycles. I'll upload a soon explaining this case.
Look at the wires
I have a similar problem my throttle cuts out completely I was able to ride it for half a mile brand new from ali baba
Same happened to me about 3 times already. Im trying to figure out what is causing it and ill share it..
How long to receive from ALIBABA? 3 months?
@@MRSTEEL15 i got mine in 6 months. Probably less time now but they do take a while and some sellers might have faster delivery.

You have a controller problem
Hi. Actually the problem was the Battery. The battery didn't provide enough current after a year of use and had to program the controller to 100Amps current and worked fine. Installed a new battery (same specs battery) and turned the current up in the controller to 150A again and no issues.. bike still running strong with same controller.
