This film is about drive. It's about the passion and creative drive of Kazunori Yamauchi, the architect behind Gran Turismo's birth and breath-taking fifteen-year evolution. This film will trace his relentless willingness to challenge himself, to hold none of his past achievements sacred, and push beyond the virtual divide in his pursuit of perfection. This is why i love gran turismo, its not just a car game its a digital culture and experience.
I adore this game. The best part about it is that it's so flawless, that I find myself forming strong opinions on the cars in game based on how they feel without even thinking about it. There are some cars that I love the driving characteristics of and I can drive them for hours, but then I find myself realising how much detail there is in the physics engine. I don't find myself making excuses like "it's ok, it's only a game" when something gets awkward because that never happens. It continuously conveys the pleasures of real world driving without reminding you that you're in a game and that's very special. As far as I'm concerned, the competitors should feel like giving up when going against such a game, it's brilliant in both quantity and detail. Hats off.
***** Honestly, you'd be surprised then when you first drive a car just how much Gran Turismo has taught you over the years. When I drove a Ferrari for the first time, I felt very nervous before getting in, but as soon as I started the engine, it felt immediately familiar, like I'd done it a thousand times. I was on a racetrack so I could really drive it fast, and even at the limit I felt extremely confident that I was in control. I would have driven it like an old lady had I not practiced on Gran Turismo 5. Honestly, people who don't play these games talk shit about how it can't possibly be the same, but 95% of the Experience for me was flawless. One day, you should do the same, you'll realise just how much you already know about driving fast cars before having even driven one.

Tyler Green Long story. To cut it short, I was taking a tour of the Ferrari factory when I met the boss, Luco di Montezemolo. Turns out he's a really nice guy so for no particular reason other than I was just a young car enthusiast, he let me drive an FF on the test track. I was 15. I can't tell you what a privilege that was, but like I said, it was my experience in Gran Turismo that gave me the confidence and the focus to drive it fast. I don't think they expected me to floor it to 130mph straight out of the pits...
This should be shown in movie theatres.
As a kid growing up i played fighting games a lot. The i got this game and it changed me i wanted to be a racing driver but never made it so i continued playing this game. It made me feel a bit closer to my dream i never had. My best friend who died loved gt as wellhe never played it as much but if he were alive today he be glad to see where the game has gone and is going. Its a continuing process that will one day be the ultimate driving game. I will forever be thnakful tot he GT creators for the wonderful memories they made me have if i could give all of them a big hug i would.. thank you Gran Turismo.
I have so much respect for this man and his work if I was a billionaire I would invest in his company and push for realistic graphic in the gaming world.

@@iofficialtj Facebook marketplace will have the closest to retail price. You may have to pay an extra 100 bucks but it's worth it. I bought a bundle last year for 750. Retail it was 650. I've had my PS5 for a year now and it's been worth every penny.

Kaz has a hobby of hiking, which is cool, but if you haven't noticed yet, most of the Original tracks set in real world locations like Matterhorn, Eiger Nordwand, and the rally tracks, it's layouts are all based of real life hiking trails. He's using the layout to design the tracks, which I think is cool.

Love Gran Turismo!! Its part of my life for so many years now. I have great memorys playing Gran Turismo 1 with my best Friend the whole night, when i was 14 years old.... now i am 29 :D
What I love is, this game is Japanese made, and Japanese always 100000% total, When They made something.

Wow! This docu film is absolutely amazing. To hear just a hint of what goes on in Kaz's mind, his engineers and staff's minds as they struggle to develop the (as near to) perfect driving game is awesome. If only all the GranTurismo players would watch this video we could better understand WHY this team are not willing to release GTSport, GT7 until they feel the games are ready for each of our driving fantasies. When we dare to imagine the HUGE cost waiting to release these games is bearing down on Kaz and the PolyPhony team,, it boggles the mind but we will,, as soon as the games are released be happily standing in line to spend the $60, $70 or what ever it costs. We already know we'll be enjoying the very best!

My only complaint with the Gran Turismo series is the noise. I wish Polyphony would put the same amount of obsession into making the cars sound like their real life counter-parts.
Yes, seriously focusing on the sound design of the GT games would do wonders. A game like NFS Most Wanted, while being unapologetically arcady in style, has amazing sound design that really connects you to the cars you're driving, even though they feel nothing like real cars. Please Polyphony give us real sounds to go along with the real driving simulation.
And my complaint is the music. Why Polyphone does not just put a pretty cool ambient, chillout, and house music like in this documentary?

the greatest race car game ever , but i think it's to much the same cars like skyline , rx7 etc , i hope in the future will be more astons , honda , porsche ,maserati . Give us more powerful version one car , love that game , greatings from Poland :)

Can anyone recommend any other documentaries like this? Not necessarily car/game-related, but about people who have become masters at what they do?
A delightfull documentary, i played GT6 and didn't know what king of heritage GT carry in his back. For me ths game is awesome, it has so much soul, perfection and personality. Maybe my only complain is the music. In this documentary are a pretty good songs and ambient music, why this guys doesn put some of this music in the game?

I really love this game!!
I love the game but they make the physics engine sound revolutionary and way more complex than it actually is. I believe they strived for what they say and would love to achieve it but its still pretty basic in terms of physics, especially when using a FFB wheel. Maybe they had it coded as a Simulator but had to dial it back because simcades sell more. All this time/money on laser scanning tracks etc.) to not have the resolution of what they've scanned from tracks, tires, suspension etc.) translate to a wheel the way it should have been by how they talk about all of it. Thats why its still considered a simcade when they could easily modify the physics engine and turn it into a world class simulator. They could even give the choice of "Original GT physics or Hardcore Sim physics" and also separate that with the online multiplayer as well. I really hope they go much farther with the simulations in GT7, or at least give the gamer the choice. This Dev has an amazing team, Sony's money, all the resources they need, I believe they seriously could make a world class simulator if they wanted to. Especially since the Sim community has skyrocketed the past few years thats even more incentive for them offering something with or alongside the "simcade" experience. On a side note, This game by far has the most beautifully modelled cars, their graphics engine is amazing, etc.) GT7 with Ray Traced Reflections, maybe shadows, global illumination!! All on a console. I could go on about the specialties of GT Sport but it would take forever.
Who considers it a simcade? Except pretentious sim racers who think PC2 is more realistic than GT. To me GT has a way better feel then ACC and PC. GT7 is gonna be special. It's a console game so obviously you need to be able to use controller. This game does super well with controller and wheel. Also has the best motion steering application I've ever seen. Dualsense with motion steering is gonna be phenomenal.

i love both games...but actually...forza has soul for me, playing gran turismo is for me more of a stress, i play it more hard core, in forza i just play to drive something, to have fun, but sometimes I turn on my ps1 just to play GT2, i miss the old cars that are gone for good after GT2...
I love forza GT2 was a brilliant game but since then they haven't been able capture the same magic for me anyway i prefer arcade racers now i have less time being older to enjoy games i find GT3,4,5 to be so labor heavy its not worth it for the enjoyment i get compared with forza which is so much more fun.

If Kazunori Yamauchi is reading this, here's my wish list for the racing game known as Gran Turismo:
*1.* Bring back the race cars which were once existed in Racing Modification from in GT1 and GT2 (Super Taikyu and other domestic race cars), pre-GT4 "LM Edition" which are gone like forever.
*2.* Special color chips from colors of GT1 and GT3 prize cars. (Stupid, yet not every unique colors are back in GT5 and GT6, right?)
*3.* More race circuits like Barcelona, Shanghai, Magny-Cours...etc, and bring back disappeared courses such as Red Rock Valley (GT2), Route 11 (GT1, GT3), Hong Kong Tsim Shi Tsui (GT4) and more.
*4.* My preferred course diversions:
Real Circuits
Original Courses
Dirt & Snow
Actual location Courses (Replaces City Courses)
*5. BRING BACK MOON OVER THE CASTLE!! THIS PIECE OF MUSIC IS THE SOUL TO TELL THE WORLD IT'S "GRAN TURISMO" !!*

japanese, chinese and corean subtitles is the only available....
They've added English and about a dozen more languages now
One thing that dissapointed me about Gran Turismo the past 15 years or so, is that there isn't still a BMW E30 in the game! How come? One of the most winning race car ever exist is not availeble in a game with such a big car list. The BMW E30 is a legendary car and is loved by almost all racing drivers and fans. So, why is it not in the game??? There is a nissan leaf in the game and a f*cking toyota prius that is generaly hated by almost all race fans. Why?? Is there someone who agrees with this?
BTW, E30 M3 it's already arrival GTSport at this march.

Polyphony Digital i think you guys need to know that there is a track upload bug when trying to race midnight racers nurburgring 1 lap race the track freezes and then the game freezes up. this issue as well as an issue with traction occurred after 1.12 update.

If I want to make a car tail happy is impossible with suspension settings.
And why we are forced to play with Skid Recovery Force ON License tests and Goodwood Festival of Speed?

Gran Turismo, My Favorite Game, like the Cardigan song. on whole I love games, maybe a lil too much, their like movies, however they give the creators an edge, that reality and the laws of physics cant project even in Science fiction. What does a DR, MICHAEL GERVAIS Specializing in a High Performance Psychology Program, at a DiSC Sports and Spine Center has to do with racing game. I dunno really, his preface seems to be a eulogy marking the ending of the Traditional heirachical format of Gran Turismo and the Birth of Program Sport. The new Presentation interface and Progression format of Gran Turismo Sport seem to Benefit from the good dr's INput. Kazunori is a fast learner as the change seems like it was a traditonal custom. The similarities in his Dr, Michael Gervais, practice speciality, High Performance Psychology Program at a DiSC Sport and Spinal Center has Kaz now, easily adjusting his formula with the future goals. Admirably so if u ask me, It seems scaled down, however he Much is happening in the Background. Kazunori is Preserving the Past, Maintaing the Present to Create the Future, just coincidentally tho that is the Slogan of the Dr that attempted to wronfully diagnose with Psychologial issues and medicianly dose me into such a D,i-SC High Performance Sports and Spine Program. It failed, GTA 3, like life shows how medicine slows down the processor and out the flames and real life shows the side effects are greater than the curative properties. GTA 4 showed that RICKY GERVAIS, in small doses is actually more helpful to psychologial stress and wellbeing than Small Doses of DR's MICHAEL GERVAIS, if your into his type of humor. The greatest travesty of all is that Kazunori Yamauchi, said goodbye and took some pics and had a laugh, at a diner with his chums, after he fell into the flow and the world may never know, the painstaking ordeal that goes into making this GT Sport, transitioning from the routine racing grind of 1-5, and starting with 6 the regimen and daily workouts that made GTSport a Much Smaller, But Scaled Just Right tite. It also the first to have Porchse starting with the GT3 RS, and that tells why in a way, a search for whats missing and a Plan to Patch the Previous holes, before building out. I do love vidoe games and my plan is to not play any until I've finished my quest to fix the roads in my beloved JAMAICA, so that the tourist can have a better travel experience and not just, come to hold a vybz. I also use hope in the future KAZUNORI will model the Dover Raceway as it is the only track in the island and holds league races of cars froma about 200-550 ish horspower. Having scene it I think it would become a most popular track with fans, due to local and layout. That is after GT makes a horizon like open world racer tho, with realistic physics, gas fillups and test drive like missions like nfs porshce had and other their creative minds can no doubt innovate. All this means that I will unfortunately have to be around a little longer than the devil and the adversary has been plotting in my sleep. I am awake now, so if it going to be a lil bit more challenging that it was manipulating a blind sleeping man, it wont be inpossible, however u can keep try, I dont believe in luck. Tho i am accused of being good in it, you guys will have to be better. & Now that the world knows what u have been doing, will u guys stop messing with KAZUNORI and quit the G1012X program. They lie hide, fake friendship and plot schemes that could all be avoided of they were upfront in the first place and say, this is who we are, this is what we want, as stupid and ignorant as i was then i would've agreed, probably to most except the but stuff. No preface of revenge is needed to justify your hateful nature and will to do what was in the plans from day one.

All these amazing in car camera angles and rain FX, etc) that never made it in GT Sport. I see some of these special in car cams during Live GT Sport events but we dont have access to them in our own personal replays or driving experience which makes no sense because obviously the events are running GT sport game code so why cant we have that. One example is the in car cam it shows in the video demo when you start the game up. The first person view moves around to bumps in the road, looks into the apex, and provides a more visceral feel. Then you load up a race, go to first person and you get none of that. The first person view is very static and stale.
