These two voices are meant to be together, this was one of the reasons why I fell in love with Nightwish's music back in the day.
The start reminds me of Led Zeppelin. I like it very much. 🤘
I feel like Marko and Tarja have always had a special connection, vocally, because their voices have this ability of being incredibly distinct and then moments later they can blend together perfectly. They've also always given each other a lot of support on stage without trying to overshadow the other. So I'm really glad they're singing together again and very likely going to record at least one more song together. :)
I love this song!! It's quite simply but it builds up so well and with the lyrics and their voices it just.. hits :) The way you've been boppin' along to it is basically me every time I listen to it :D
The more I hear about this, I have to agree. They have a history after all and I am stoked to have discovered this and seen this side of both of them. Going to jump over and check out some of Tarja's music now!
Tarja was the original voice of NW and a founding member. After her came Anette and Floor to substitute and continue the ready set table. Marco joined for the fourth album and these voices (Tarja & Marco) actually made NW globally grand and known. They are back together again and it is so nice to see them smile to each other like they used to do 2001---2005. Both have done awesome solo careers too. In here they are just perfect combo. By the way...check those Christmas songs too...really emotional (RJ concerts).

I think this song , musically, would fit in very well with the songs from Marko's 2020 solo album, Pyre of the Black Heart. "Stones", "Voice of My Father", and "Dead God's Son" are a few from that record.
Marko's first band, where he sang lead, was called Tarot, he formed that with his brother in 1982 at age 16, "Wings of Darkness' and "Tides" are popular reaction songs.
And last fall, he featured on a new song called "Run" by Exit Eden.

Marko was the lead vocalist for the band Tarot from the mid-1980s right up into the 2000s, and he sang lead on several Nightwish songs.
Marko is my favourite singer so I have been listening to quite a few of his other projects. He released a solo album in 2019/2020 (separately in Finnish and English), I highly recommend it. His band with his brother Saku is called Tarot, it's rather old school NWOBHM-type of music, and I for one really enjoy it. All of that considered, well, I am very excited to hear Left on Mars live in September and see both Marko and Tarja in person, together on stage! Very happy to see them being friends at this stage, they seem to enjoy working together, and while this song will probably be on Marko's next solo album, there's been talk that he will feature on a song from the album Tarja has been working on, so let's see 😊
Ok, yeah I want to see more so I am going to follow his journey and also check out what he did after his departure! I'm excited for this. Have a blast at the show, seeing them togehter was amazing, I did not really follow NightWish when they started but understand the story and can see how much releif it was to both of them to embrace this small reunion! I'm stoked they will have a relationship moving forward and I look forward to more! 🤘Keep on Rockin'🤘

Thanks for the reaction. Yes, this is definitely Marko's song. And it's great that you didn't compare his music to Nightwish. Marko always did more rock than metal. I really recommend listening to songs from his solo album or his former band Tarot, especially the live performance of Tides.
He later added in the interview that the song can be interpreted in multiple ways and someone there can also see meaning of his departure from Nightwish. Marko and Tarja had a mont- long tour in South America in the Spring and sang this song in a way that can be interpreted as a song about mutual forgiveness.
Fan footage from this tour shows them enjoying each other's presence on stage. I am happy for them. They have also announced a tour this fall in Europe.
Marko promised Tarja that because she sang Left on Mars with him, he would join in with anything she asked. I will see them in a few weeks at their joint concert at the Czech Metalfest.

@@DaneBramageROCKS There is a few weeks old online interview with Tarja and Marko. They describe how in 2017 they met at Christmas concerts in Finland, the first time since Tarja was fired. But Marko didn't even make it to the sound check because of the delayed train. He ran to Tarja fo backstage room and hugged her. Tarja describes it as a mixture of strangeness, happiness and confusion. They didn't even have time to talk and met on stage. They sang Ave Maria together (the video is on YT). It was a wonderful and touching moment for everyone. Marko hugged Tarja and he said there were tears in his eyes. Their reconciliation is healing for all of us.

Marko is one of my favourite male vocalists, and I love this song. When Marko and Tarja come together though some kind of magic happens. I'm hoping their tour comes to the UK, I'll have to check, if it is I'm definitely gonna go see them. Also, you hit the nail on the head when you said Marko's voice is soothing.

Well... check out Nightwish's Bye Bye Beautiful, the first single (or maybe second, Amaranth might have been the first) with Anette after Tarja had left. Marko wrote this for his Wife but it also took on new meaning when he asked Tarja to join him. The two did a small tour of South America a few months ago and will be touring Europe in September. There is a fan video of them performing this song live in Brazil plus a few old NW songs as well.
Marko has been in a few bands before NW, Tarot and Northern Kings and you can find their music on youtube.
When these two combine their amazing vocals pure magic happens
