A report released indicates that Austin's homicide rate is trending above state and national averages, with over 30 homicides reported in the city as of July 3, 2024, despite a downward trend since peaking at nearly 90 murders in 2021.

Is it any coincidence that Austin’s homeless rate is increasing also? The statistics show that an increase in homelessness is strongly correlated with increases in drugs, crime, and prostitution.
