Peter has been telling me to get the ramp for ages but I’m lazy because they’re like $300?! And I have my trailer usually, but it’s been in the shop for servicing for a few weeks…maybe I should just get the ramp 😅
Viet, please more videos of the Duke R. I just purchased the exact same model as yours. You are one of the reasons that inspired me to buy my first KTM.
Excellent as always! I love watching your story. Excited to see what this new toy you are getting is. Duke 890 R/690 SMC R....super slow and old street guy.
Thanks so much! One of my absolute favorite moto experiences was a multiday Northern California mountain ride on a 690 SMC R! That bike opened up my eyes to the fun of motards. 😁 such a fun bike!!
Fun times! Glad you guys are enjoying the Duke. I’m going to be getting those rear sets too. Let us know how they perform. I’ve got the same 22 890 Duke R.
Thank you :) will do! I’m excited, the only “complaint” I have about my RC is that I’m only allowed to race in two classes, but Duke has 4-5 classes, and if I’m really nice, but my brother will let me race the Duke, ha! So I’m getting more and more parts to race prep the Duke. Will report back on the rearsets!
Theres a channel(superbikeunlimited) that did a -from KTM-offroad tune with the same exhaust and they got 10 extra whp. They also did weigh reduction with carbon fiber rims( 200 rear tire) smaller light battery, and other few goodies and the bike went from 410lbs wet, to 365lbs.
Loving the update videos on the Duke. Is the Akro exhaust bolt on without using the rear pegs, or is there a special bracket that is required? I have the full system on order although it won't be here until the end of the month. Can't wait! Also, are parts available individually for the powerparts rearsets? I'm torn between those and the Woodcraft ones. I just want to make sure they are obtainable in event of a crash.
Damn when i tried to order the trans-saver they said it was on back order...hmmm I did order & install the PRO shifter kit not to hard to install. MID_AUG. Going to barber / Cali school to track it first time.
Looking into buying 2022 890R soon. And as a someone who never owned KTM, I do have some concerns about the reliability though. Anyway, your bike looks gorgeous and digging the rear sets. Ride safe! Sub from Cali.
Thanks so much Trex! I’ve had a bunch of different brands and I’ve found the build quality/fit finish to be pretty good! I have to admit our newer Speed Triple RS seems a bit more “premium” but it’s also $10,000 more 😅. As far as reliability, I’ve put 1500 track miles on my RC8C in the last half a year (it has the exact same motor as the Duke) and it seems very good so far. I do oil changes every 3 trackdays or 1 race weekend. 👍 Thank you for watching and thanks so much for the sub!
Hello, how do you find the stock suspension on 890r, i find it a little stiff for road use, adjusted mine on comfortable settings! Conrgrats for being one of the lucky 100 to own RC8 C! More power to your channel man!
Thank you so much for watching and commenting :) The 890R suspension is really good stock suspension in my opinion, I adjusted it to the recommended track settings and it performed well. At our local track, I was comfortably in the advanced group with no modifications and stock tires. If I were to race the Duke, we’d probably want a little more stiffness on front and rear, but for a trackday toy the bike is *amazing*. Would definitely soften it for road use and it would be killer in the twisties and canyons! Thanks again and hope you subscribe! :)
Butting in here....the target weight for this bike stock is 75-85kg and rider sag is recommended 43mm. I fall right in the target weight range and run sag at both ends at 43.5mm (I don't wanna fuss over .5mm) with the "comfort settings" in the book as a starting point. IMHO don't go by the spring preload suggestions (turns in) in the book. I find them arbitrary cause there are so many variables for each rider. I just set the sag (given the stock spring rate is correct) and then adjust damping.
Did I miss your video pulling out the DB killer in your Akrapovic? I’m trying to do that to my wife’s still and that bolt was welded in and I’m having to pull the carbon end cap off and replace that and cut that DB killer bolt off. (Damage to end cap in a low side)
Wait that is crazy!! Sorry we didn’t film that, the DB killer for the Akrapovic for the Duke was a simple Allen key, you had to remove a small rubber grommet with a little Akrapovic stamp on it, then you use a 4 or 5 size Allen key and remove that and the baffle slides right out!! Sorry that yours was such a pain! Wow :(
@@vtranmoto the one we have is an older version and did not have the pre drilled hole with rubber cover to easily access that bolt. So I had to drill out a spot and then the alen key broke off trying to free it. Since the end cap had damage, I figured I’d pull it and replace it anyway. Just can’t find that part number for the end cap you have, with the pre drilled hole and rubber cap!!!
I’m 5’7” and it isn’t an issue, as long as you have riding boots you’ll be able to find footing. Also you can just tripod it, that’s what I did with my Ducati Hypermotard which had a super tall seat height. The other option you should also consider is the Triumph Street Triple 👍
@@WEEZMONEYINVOLVED132 none, the RC8C I race uses the same motor as the Duke 890 and it has 2400 track/race miles on it and it’s still going strong. It’s a great twin engine machine!
@@WEEZMONEYINVOLVED132 I'm also 5'6 and just purchased a 2022 890 Duke R. At first, the seat height is intimidating, but after riding it around town, it's so light that it's easy to put your one foot down. They also sell a lowering kit which I purchased before I rode the Duke. I previously owned a street triple rs and that is definitely much lower to reach the ground with your feet.
I use an extra long ramp for that same reason. Can't wait to see the Barber video and the new bike.

Did you use an impact wrench to get the two swingarm pivot bolts off? Check out the Vanasche sprocket cover
I did not…but maybe Peter did 😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆

Have you checked out any of the MotoProWorks graphic kits? They have some pretty badass ones on there for the 890
Yeah! Those are way cool, very popular on the KTM fb groups. Some of them are super sharp!
