I got a new Motorola phone and discovered that it had way more channels than my JetPack(which was my home internet). Rural living sucks in some cases. Switched to their $60(tax) 25 GB unlimited plan and throttled back after 25 GB. I was paying $86 for phone and JetPack. So far working out great for UA-cam videos and web browsing. On just 1-2 bars had a 12 Mbps download speed.

I have the 25 mb plan on their standard router and it's pretty slow for me would a new modem make it better faster?

The hotspot they provide with the plan is pretty low end. But many things influence actual speeds you get: www.rvmobileinternet.com/performance

What is this AT&T plan I’m so confused I have the nighthawk and the store rep and online reps both told me unless I’m a business I can’t get unlimited data haha 😂 so I’m capped at 40G which isn’t awful but can’t stream with it is all

This sounds like a horrible plan..... so $60 per year for FMCA (which is ok) but you have to have more than one year.... so that is $120 (still ok)...... plus $60 per month for slow internet. So.... if a person wants this plan That is $120 for the FMCA membership (maybe one year extension so only $60)..... for UP TO 25mbs of speed (which is not enough for much of anything)... and there is the magic wording... "up to" which means.... you will likely never get this....

25 Mbps is more than enough speed for most things on the internet - including 4K video streaming. Those of us on the road often only see speeds like this in many areas, even with 'full speed' plans.
AT&T does offer the same plan for $65/mo, or a 50 Mbps option for $75/mo. Otherwise, with them, the only other option is a 100GB capped plan for $90/mo.

Most people would disagree with that. But, that is also presuming you get the most possible speed that the plan allows.... but you never get the "UP TO" speed. Never.... Also, If you look at the details of those plans on the AT&T Website, you will see that you only get higher speeds for the first few GB (50 to 100 which is practically nothing).... then they deprioritize you (meaning slow you down on purpose). Buy hey..... if you want to pay cheap... then you have to be ready for bad internet I guess....

We (and multiple members on our team) actually have the AT&T Business Core plan - and consistently get 25 Mbps. If we up it to the 50 Mbps level, we get 50 Mbps. We are definitely seeing the speeds. And the data threshold is for priority data, not throttling. That just means you may see slower speeds at times of congestion. We have yet to see slower speeds. Throttling and network management are different things - we cover that in this guide: www.rvmobileinternet.com/unlimited

Been using the FMCA AT&T plan for a while now. Started with the 12 Mbps plan, and even when getting less that that, say down to 5 - 6 Mbps we had no significant issues when streaming video. We are not doing 4K video. But we have 2 IoT devices in the RV, plus 2 streaming TVs, a notebook computer and a tablet. Sometimes all of those devices at one time and there were no significant issues. We did hit a couple of areas where we had very poor speeds at some times. 1 - Perry GA at the FMCA Rally. And again at Lazydays RV Resort in Seffner, FL. Worked with FMCA TechConnect on resolving those issues.
This was with the hot spot that comes with the plan as described. with 20/20 hindsight I think that most of the issue is with the hockey puck hot spot.
But I really needed wired Ethernet as well as being able to have both 2.4G and 5G WiFi at the same time. Worked around that short term with a couple of small TP-Link devices.
But we had another issue with the supplied hot spot. Even when plugged in to AC power (on inverter) the WiFi would shut off to save battery power if the hot spot didn't see a certain amount of activity. Since we rely on the Internet to monitor temperature, and AC power, in the RV due to having a pet with us this was a non-starter.
I got a Cudy LT18 router that has support for 2 SIM cards, built in Ethernet switch, 4 MIMO Cell antennas that can be replaced with an external antenna, and allows for 2.4 and 5G WiFi at the same time.
The WiFi is very solid, and with the recent change to the AT&T FMCA plan we get solid 25 Mbps here at the house when using 5G WiFi, and will be testing on our next road trip. Of course if you are a mega power user of the Internet then this may not be the plan for you, but with the addition of a good cellular router we have found that the FMCA base plan is really quite good.
Since I do remote software development projects there are a lot of times when we are traveling where I need reliable Internet access, and so far the FMCA plan has been more than adequate .
