I work register at a predominantly Polish grocery store and I started piecing together key phrases and vegetables customers would say to me even though I don’t speak a lick of it 😂 so watching this video is really helping me expand my vocab!

I'm Brazilian, but my great great grandparents came from Poland many years ago. The only word that I already knew on that list was bread, but I just knew how to pronounce, I don't knew how to write it. My grandma used to speak polish when she was younger, but now she just remember some few words.

Cześć! I hadn't realised it until now, but your voice is perfect to catch everyone's attention in the room. It's a talent a good teacher needs. Sometimes I'm distracted, but the volume of your voice brings me back to the class. 😊

The vocabulary seems quite tricky but It ends up that I could almost catch your grocery list! chleb, mleko, wody, dwa piwa, truskawki, czereśnie i trzy ogórki. A few of them I've heard a lot while I was traveling in Poland last year. Kind of bring me back to that trip! Dziękuję bardzo, Ewalina! Uszesz bardzo dobrze polski.

tomato is an animate masculine noun? "Poproszę jednego pomidora." I was really surprised by that. Is this an exception or can someone explain what is going on here? I thought the masculine inanimate didn't change in the accusative. What is going on here?

    I would like to compare polish n Russian - milk ( mleko/молоко moloko) , water ( woda, wody/ вода,воду,води woda, wodó , wodé ) , tomato ( pomidor / помидоры , томат pomidori or tomat ) , beer ( piwo / пиво pivo) , cherry ( wisnia / вишня wisnya) , chicken ( kurczak / курица kuritsa ) , mutton ( baranina / баранина baranina ) , mushroom ( Grzyb / гриб Grib ) , fish ( ryba / рыба ryba ) ,Rice (Ryż /рис , Rys ) , garlic (czosnek,/ чеснок czesnok ) ,bread ( chleb / хлеб , hleb ) , butter ( masło / масло maslo ) , sour cream (śmietana / сметана , smetana ) , ginger ( imbr / имбирь imbir ) , cabbage ( kapusta / капуста, kapusta ) , cucumber (ogórek / огурец ogurets ) , carrot (marchewka / морковь marchowk) ,cheese ( ser / сыр syr )
I personally feel polish is very easy to speak than to write and read as I know Russian . Especially after watching your videos.
