When people ask me why One Piece is such a big deal, the fact that kings like you are inspired to create such meaningful music like this is one major part of my monologue.
Also it’s the one anime (and manga) to still be going on pre 2000s and have no sign of slowing down.
Makes me smile, My Great-Grandmother was a Bokor and she was Ghanan and Nigerian, and despite knowing I didn’t speak it well I would always run to her house and she would go “There’s my little JoyBoy!” She was from Louisiana originally and she practiced The Vodou/Catholicism faith with heavy ties to both sides as she did not want to feel like she was betraying her family.
The reason she called me that was because when I was little I had a pair of drums that I hung from my neck and was always jumping around and smiling and laughing with my twin brother.
