A good reminder to always check the basics. And I agree, I have seen too many devices ruined by Duracell batteries.
Yep! Just found mine that I was gifted new in 1989(?) Crossed the Atlantic a couple of times with it. Found it tucked away in a box on the attic yesterday. Was surprised to find it completely dead when connecting it to 240 volts. Luckily figured out that it might need batteries for the computer to work and yey now fully working! Great video!
I always use lithium AA cells in applications like this as they are much less likely to leak. It's lucky that you caught those cells before they started to leak. Repairing the 2010 with battery damage can be a tricky and difficult thing to do.
Good video, I didn't know that option was available. I will test it and get back with you. First need to get an AC 4.5V adapter that fits.
That happened to me once. I just replaced the batteries with new, out of the box, ones. It worked first time. Amazing ;)

These are amazing radios. I had one back in the 90’s and sold it. I now wish I hadn’t and that I still had it
I had a Uniden CR2021 and I got that around 1985 from memory and I wish I had not sold mine either,
Get kFI 1070 AM from Albuquerque,NM on my 2010.. Use sync detection.
I won't ever use Duracell since they leaked inside my brothers Fluke network tester and destroyed it. I use rechargeables in everything now including my Fluke 289

perhaps try rechargeable AA's, you may find the mains supply gives a trickle charge, I have a radio that when it is plugged in also charges the main batteries.

I have 2001 model, it's intermittently work, and lose the display after playing for a while, but resit the backup battery (2xAA) work again, any suggestion?

Error 4 is all memory presets are skipped during scan. Is the scan button stuck? are you sure that it is error 4?

I have a sony ICF-2010 radio. But a lot of times when I pick up the frequencies there is an extraneous fanfare noise behind. I don't know exactly what the problem is.

Is it just am? What about different frequencies? Does the local/dx switch and gain change it?
