  • This should be much easier than opening up the inside of your car padding and messing up with it.
CAUTION: When removing the lower black panel to clean debris, you will need to carefully take out the clips holding it up to the car and clip them back when done.

Best video ever. I had a load of black sludge in there. Just a little tip, if you have black rivets, don’t rip them off!, They come off and on the same way the engine cover rivets do… press the middle in to remove them, and to put them back pull the middle out a little first, place the outer in flat then then push the inner back in the rest of the way. Also, on my 2012 rx I had to put a Phillips head bit on a socket spanner to get to a screw tucked in behind the door

Awesome.... simple and straight to the point. This is the simplest solution out there. I give you double thumbs up

Can't thank you enough for the video. I was not in the mood to cut the pipe and drain it from a new hole as a lot of other videos said. Your solution worked, I had a ton of junk come out. Then I ran a snake down the holes from the sunroof and water was flowing out perfect. Thank you!!

What type of cable snake did you use ? I can't find one a millimetre less than the drain tube but a PVC coated steel wire clothes line was the closest I could find. I also tried to use a whipper-snipper line as suggested in some of the other videos, but the problem with this is the tight curve in the plastic and also the closest I could find was a 3 mm diameter line which is too narrow.

Sir I commend you! The amount of crap that I got out was unbelievable! I bet it hadn't been cleaned in 20 years!

My ES 300 gets wet behind the driver’s seat, nowhere else. This is the likely solution. I am very grateful!

I recently fixed our RX330 with a soaked carpet issue. I'll add that it's worth the time to remove the lowest two wheel liner screws to give you better access to the area that gets gummed up with sludge. I used a combination of a shop-vac and banging on the running board to get all the crap to drop down. Was amazed at how much there was. Really fine grey talcum powder consistency dust, leaves, etc. One other tip/trick is to use a 17 gauge wire to clean out the sunroof drainage tubes. I used a .110 string trimmer line at first and didn't have great success. The 17 gauge wire is bendy enough to feed down the line but more solid than the string trimmer material to push out the blockage. Recommend clearing it out on the bottom first, then running the wire, cleaning it again & then testing with some water before bolting everything back up.

Hey hello sir I just want to say thank you so much because I haven't even trying it but I already know that your solution is the best because I don't have to alter anything the way it was the car designed because it all he needs is simple maintenance and like you said, 10 years of build up crap dirt leaves and stuff like that so just makes sense do it once and you're good for the rest of the life of the car I appreciate your help!👍👊 God bless you!

Thanks for your video! Without it I would not have found the root cause of the problem in my Lexus RX450H, having a wet carpet and multiple electronic errors (Cockpit looked like a christmas tree). In this newer generation of the RX series Lexus added some maintenance slots in the plastic covers on both sides to make clean up a little easier. They are easy to open and amount of mud in there was comparable to yours. However it seems that the draining system is mostly the same in all generations of these cars and some other models as well.
Electric is drying now and the blinking warning lights get less :-). A little heater helps to speed this up.

Yooo thank you for this! I just did this and found handfuls of dirt and leaves in that trim under the door. I had leaking in the driver's side carpet and after doing this it seems like the sunroof is draining better. I'll try to update this post after a heavy rainstorm to verify that this solved the problem for good. Thank you!!

Your video really helped to remove debris at the bottom - only thing I observed is just removing one screw is not tilting the bottom panel - you may have to break a couple of clips - which needs to be replaced as they are broken while removing.

@@IceESole I opted out of this method. If you have sunroof with this issue than use Drano. There is a UA-cam video. I almost had it figured out before I saw the Drano video. I was using 3n1 oxyclean but Drano is better and makes better sense. It worked!

I did clean all the twigs and mud but when I pour water through the drainholes in sunroof, water trickles down into the side area (above window) and it starts to pool water. I don't know what to do. (I also already used compressed air into the drain holes in sunroof.
