This pedal is MAGNIFICENT! Removed all other drives off my board.
Pete, you continue to impress me on so many levels. Your understanding of good gear and good tone knows no rival. You are a tremendous musician who writes great riffs. You're a good person. You understand music, entertainment, and performance. What I would love to see from you is for you to hitch on to a great, commercially successful band - where you write all or most of the music and have a good, charismatic singer that can put great lyrics to the catchy songs that you'd be guaranteed to compose. I think that that's the only thing that you have left to achieve. You definitely could do it. And, I think you would be tremendous at it. I want to see this because many would be immensely entertained by it, you'd enjoy it, and those of us who have followed you through everything else would appreciate it. I hope to see (or hear) that one day. By the way, this device is cool. Great gear demo, as always.
Benjamin Rowlett wow that’s some serious man-love right there ;)
@@Gruntle - I am a firm believer in letting people know when you really appreciate what they do. Pete is the $h*+. I'm simply a big fan of what he does and would enjoy seeing him writing for and performing in a great band with good vocals.
Reminds me of Alex Lifeson/Rush kinda tones. EQ is well balanced. Not to woofy in the bass, not to bright. Lots of note definition in the chords.Sounds great.
Bro i got so many Marshall style pedals i could sell them all and buy an actual Plexi lol
😂😂
Haha😂
the more the merrier,.... i dont have a plexi, but i have some Marshall gear, always loved it the best!
Hahahahaha
Hahaha 😂 brilliant
Sounds a lot like my Plexitone but with adjustable mids and boost. Very accurate sound as the core tone is not overly saturated. Pete is excellent at running any pedal through the paces and showcasing its potential. Great job.
That tone is heavenly. Crisp but clear and singing. You rock, Pete!
That Engine purrs like a kitten.
Also...can we talk about that pair of Christmas colored Suhr Strats??? Jesus dude.
I had to buy the Drybell Unit 67 after you demoed it, although it was a bit pricy. Now I will probably have to buy The Engine as well, and I was expecting a higher price really. As usual, killer demo that could easily be developed into a full blown song, along with several others you've done.
I love how rather than replicate the controls on a plexi, they went for a unique scheme for max versatility.
Great pedal, great tones, great rock star faces during the solo, and great tangle of cords and cables under the desk, just like my recording desk.
The pedal sounds great for sure, but I think the guy demoing it is part of how good it sounds here. Pete, I have watched quite a few of your pedal demos and I think you’re my favorite guitar player I have discovered in recent years, and you always have everything dialed in just right. It’s amazing how good you always sound in these videos. Keep doing what you’re doing!
Now that's what I needed today- a new Pete Thorn video!
Wow! Now that's a horse of a different color altogether. Not a Fuzz, Distortion, nor your typical TS OD.
It sounds like another amazing pedal from Drybell. I never heard of Drybell until I seen Pete Thorn's review of the Drybell Vibe Machine, I ended up buying a Vibe Machine shortly after and it's amazing, really inspiring. I can't wait to try The Engine...conveniently its nearly fathers day so my wife can't complain I'm buying another pedal, she'll wish she could but I'm calling The Engine my fathers day gift.
Thank goodness for Pete Thorn!!!
I liked this pedal demo so much that I bookmarked the website.
You just stay so consistent Pete. Thank you for making my life richer.
Another otherwordly review. You are amazing, Pete. Thankfully Zagreb is close to my home.😀
the reason I like this channel is Pete Thorne is the ultimate tone gigolo. Pedals are fun to own, but almost more fun to discuss.
I've had the unit67 on my board for a year or so too. This is a nice combination as I don't us the comp.
Whatever they're paying you Pete they should doulble it
Lol....... no triple it!
agree
Sweet. I love the harmony parts.
I'm intrigued, seems like a very versatile pedal with killer "baseline" tone. Nice!
You make EVERY pedal sound like l need it.
😊
The neck on that red Strat is sick.
Have you ever thought about a video describing how you get your inspiration for the parts you play? If you did one, I missed it. Would love to hear your 'typical' process. Everything is just killer.
Very smooth tons of great tones. Awesome playing love the lead tones. Awesome pedal
This pedal suit you mr Pete.. your tone so glorious..
Fat brit sounds..❤
You had me at Plexi, yet again, haha. Great demo and a great sounding pedal.
That's a beautiful tone.
It actually sounds better than your review of the Plexi review on 10.
It's smoother fat and crunchy without a metal tone.
Croations are quite clever.
We have a over hundred thousand Slavs in Melbourne.
God RE listening that is a great tone.
This pedals sound incredibly good. I can tell you find the tones inspiring which is what it's all about! I just noticed you have a Lab Series L5 in your studio. The best solid state amp ever made!
Not only Pete is an Amazing player but he really makes the best reviews...
Sounds absolutely incredible. 👀
Arrived tonight. Gonna take it for a spin tomorrow
The guy makes me want to buy stuff i dont need. Best product demos on the web.
Hey Pete i just pre-ordered this pedal and am looking forward to getting it. great tone !!! hey thanks for all you do pete!
Sounding killer!
Loved that riff with the groups of 7. Really cool.
Didn't want that track to end Pete, nice work!
WOW Lab L5 in the room ! Used to own two of those. Love the pedal demo too !
Awesome playing Pete!!
Great Sounding Pedal and Rig!!
You are an amazing Pete! one of the greatest in the Planet
Cheers Pete, great demo. Something about that pick attack was really ear catching. Chunky. :)
I bet this could make an old Crate CR-1 sound amazing. Thanks, Pete!
Hey Pete, greetings from Croatia :) Great tones comming out of it!
Wow. What an amazing sounding pedal! And as always great playing Pete!!!
Oh that headstock on the red S
Rory McLoughlin looks like a Friedman style
Thanks Pete, got one and it just kills w/my Friedman's. The combo is perfect along with a TS style Joe B overdrive.
Hey Pete, thanks for your videos. I really appreciate your work.
Another stunning intro. Please , please please, post something on how you approach constructing and record these demo's/intros. I'm sure that would be an extremely popular post :)
Where in the HELL does he get ALL these WONDERFUL toys? Love it. CHEERS!
Really love that guitar , the headstock looks great . Brilliant as always Pete 🤘🏻⚡️👍🎸
Awsome video and playing and most of all attitude! Thank you for the effort you put in every time. Really appreciate...Stay healthy!
Bonjour Pete...this inspired by...pedal.....song must be on your next album!!your last one is running over an over since 1,5 year! And I have tones and tones CDs!! It reminds me " guitar shop" J.Beck album but with your sensibility, this kind of energized minor feeling! Thanks Monsieur!
Pete's intro songs >>>>>>> most released music
Thanks man!
Dry bell is killer company
Hot Damn that red Suhr is a killer !! Another great video, thanks Pete 👍🏻
Sounds fantastic, right up our street too 👍
great demo, the playing is great entertaining thanks, now I what one ....🖤🖤🖤
Great turns of phrase.
Great demo, though very happy with the Revival Drive in this category - could be a fun bake-off to try for someone! Also as an aside, Pete’s demos continue to lead this niche category of music creation, short format guitar instrumentals focused on highlighting some gear, he’s got a lot of talented colleagues and some imitators now but remains the favorite of my ears and man he finishes fairly polished pieces fast!
Pete your killing my credit cards lol! I’m going to have to check this out!
don't be fooled. it's all in Pete's fingers. he can make metal zone sounds like a plexi!
Thanks Pete ..sure miss my 1972 100 w Super Lead....this may help!
Flipper,i had the same one too a 1972 Marshall 100w Super Lead Head that i sold in 1997! I now wish that i have never sold it!
If you guys could magically have your 72 Superlead 100 watt amps returned to you..........How would you choose to use them now days?
UA Audio?, Suhr Reactive load?, Two Notes? ect........small cab with high powered speaker? A pedal like “The Engine” or something similar?
If you fellas don’t mind sharing.......I’m genuinely interested👍. I had a stock reissue 1959X......but didn’t have the right speakers, pups, or pedals to
use it like it was intended. Had Scott Splawn perform his “early” Quickrod mods to it........Fantastic!! Never should have sold that one.......peace.
@@Auen73 I still have my '71superlead, I had "power scaling" added- a non invasive mod which enables me to dial down the voltage on the amp and get that powertube saturation at a much lower volume without damaging the the amp itself as it adjusts bias and maintains heater voltage- similar to the low setting on a sl68- that said its still a bit loud w/ a 4x12 in the house with the wife (approx 98 db) so to shave a couple more db I have deployed the rivera reactive load- which does the trick. it also allows me to use
my '87 -2205 to run as a separate "wet" rig-
Sweet, my favourite kind of guitar tone.
awesome pete thorn your one of my favorite musician🤘🏻🙂
And so it was that Pete started to smell the scent of peanuts and roasted maple. As each day passed the scent grew stronger. Also he noticed he began to physically change.....into a guitar nut.
Wow man I didn't know you but glad I did now, when I've listened to your playing I was instantly hooked and Im blasting PTII right now. Awesome! And you play Suhr like Ian Thornley who has one of my favourites tones. Cheers!
Thanks man!!!
Tasty licks Pete! Great track
Great demo. As usual!
First rule of “Pete Club”? 👊.........You click 1st!.......Then you watch quaranteed quality content........(would actually be a cool T-Shirt idea Pete!! ). Pete’s Old school Rock N’ Roll elixir/serum........Save you Rock N’’ Roll soul and anything else that’s ailing you! That Suhr Strat is stunning❤️.............Cool pedal.
Great, I repeat, Great rock star faces!
Pete Thorn..you are the peanut butter to my jelly.
Holy Scheiza Minnelli! 🤘🏼 How does this treble boost compare with the Unit 67’s Treble Boost?
Verry cool Song ! Verry tastefuk playing ! Man ! I like it!
Awesome intro tune brother!!!!
Thanks!
WoW, Nice Tone 👍
Awesome, thanks Pete! When fed with a low-noise guitar signal and clean, isolated power, does this pedal retain a quiet hiss/hum background noise-floor with the Gain and Range knobs maxed?
These pedal reviews are great. Keep introducing me to these great tones!
This or Nabla 1987 v2? thanks, always very usefull videos. Great playing.
I comented before here. Made a mistake on The Mad Professor Pedal that is very similar. I meant to day Mad Professor "Loud and Proud" not The "Super Black". So loud and Proud would be a good comparision Demo to compare with " The Engine". They are both based on a Marshall Circut and have the Rangemaster as a boost.
Hey Pete. I'm skint and I've got the Boss Power Stack. Sounds good to me - as it did when you reviewed it!
You have some awesome chops bro. I aspire to be half as good as you on guitar. You are both an inspiration and a impediment. I want to play some of your licks but I also know that I may not be able too. My arthritic pinky just does not work well. But hey, if there is a will and a desire then there is a way and again there is another way. You make it look easy. Then when I try it I find out it ain’t! LOL!! Love your vids. Have really learned a lot! Keep em coming!!!
Sounds great!
Great playing and great sounding pedal! If this is in the Top 3 Marshall in a Box, I’d be curious to know what the other two in the top would be!
I’ve been through many MIAB pedals and some were great and some were just ok to me. I believe the Marshall Plexi of the 60’s and 70’s is the quintessential rock crunch sound.
Currently I have Origin Effects RevivalDrive Compact, Rockett Majestic, and Pettyjohn Gold MKII. Like I said…I love the Marshall Plexi sound! Thinking about getting this also!
cool red and tortoise guitar
Take my money!
Fantastic!
Hey Pete, can you do a video on the Earthquaker Devices Swiss Things? I’m curious to how a professional musician would use it.
Pete..you dont showed us the track with that blue strat w sgl coil..for me that is one best tone you got from the pedal
Cool song!!! And it sounds good to :)
That sounds amazing, one of your best tones ever! I have a question about that gorgeous red custom Suhr, did you end up changing the bridge pickup on it or did you just take the cover off the TB+?
The High Priest Of Tone And Taste - Pete Thorn
Pete do a side by side with your plexi. Use you suhr on a clean setting driven by this peddle and your plexi straight in and be fair.oh and I know the delay is a staple but leave it out please.
pete all in all among so many drive pedals you have demo-ed which comes closest to the plexi sound in your opinion?
Seriously this one is the closest I've heard. He even said it sounds rather close to the one sitting right behind him. I'm thinking of getting this because it does the Plexi thing, but also very tweakable without being going too deep. This seems to be about as simple as versatile gets.. even more so than an actual amp!
I’m not even going to listen! No offence! Every time I watch a pedal review I’m blown away! Already ordered a Gladio... Plexi is a major weak spot! Help 🤣
I've noticed that in the beginning of the video, you have the Fryette Power Station!! How do you like the device? That is definitely on my "Bucket List", so maybe in the future, you could do a demo on it? Thanks Pete, and I love your demos!!
Nice!
My big question would be whether it has the clarity & definition of a real plexi. I find that's hard to get in a pedal. I'd love to hear a shootout between this and the PedalPal 959.
i have the PAL 959v2. it sounded better than this in my opinion. the PAL 959v2 sounds chunkier, it got Marshall kerrang.
On these guitars, any pedal looks like a marshall, ‘til metal zone! 🤪
Have you ever considered demoing the Theta Isp preamp distortion pedal?
Haven’t been asked to, but I would
Nice
Serious guitar face in the intro.
