Hi from North Carolina. It is very devastated in my area near Asheville. My bridge washed away but thankfully my home is more elevated from the river. The people really hurting are the ones in the mountains where all roads washed away. But we are enterprising….people w their own helicopters and large drones are the ones getting to these stranded people. Military presence here also to help. It’s a terrible thing to see and thank you for noticing. Perhaps seeds could be a problem . People w colitis type issues (not u particularly ) cannot eat any seeds and sometimes leafy greens. Anyway I enjoy your ambling and ramblings about.
I see the videos every day. I feel so sorry for the people and animals who are affected and have lost everything. It's true, people with Crohn's, diverticillitis and ulcerative colitis absolutely have to exclude vegetables and sugar from their diet. Here on YT is a young man - kencarnivore - who cured his colitis with the carnivorous diet.
I think that taking out your door was right, looks so much better. If you hadn't put the door in you would have been pondering if you should! Now you know for sure. It's a learning curve
I love the on going saga of the wall and doors, oh yes I have doors on my rooms too ,odd that lol. Also the shelving you have ordered I ought the same a couple of months back, very good value etc , but be prepared to swear , it's an easy put together but tricky on your own good luck. Batten down the hatches as they say going to get a bit blowey. ❤
You’ve no need to feel deflated. The door served a great purpose in the old position, but the model has changed now - and it’s truly inspiring to see you remodel that space and to reuse the modular door. And as an added bonus, the “hall” where the door had been looks huge now it has been removed. So, to me, it’s a win win - congratulations!
Yep! It’s all “part of the process” of getting where or what you want. I have discovered in my forty-eight years that there are very few straight lines/paths. There is a great line(s) in a song by the great George Strait (it think it’s by him🤔😉🤭) “life’s a dance, you learn as you go, sometimes you lead sometimes you follow. Don’t worry ‘bout what you don’t know life a game (dance) you learn as you go…” Great tune 🎶 and really good lyrics.
Hi Mark. It would look nice and practical to put the wardrobe where the mirrors etc are and the chest of drawers next to it. I would suggest the door and window in line with the blue wall. Plenty of room for bike and plants.
Through life experience, I have been concentrating in recent years on eliminating exactly what I don't want from my life. Then everything else becomes much easier.
I go for it, then after a while I don't like what I've done, so change it. This can be wasteful on time and resources, but I'd rather have a go than dither.
In addition to bedrooms and bathrooms w doors, my house has a great room (living & dining room combo), a kitchen, office and art studio. There is only one bifold door that I keep open between the entry and office. There are no other doors between these room and I love the openness. So one does not need so many doors. It is up to the individual and their needs. Thinking maybe a bifold door could solve some of your challenges.
I add a teaspoon of sugar to bolognaise to take the tang away from the tomatoes. The door will be used it was time for a change. You right you must try food to stop you from not eating think of your health in later years.
It looks better without the door. Why don't you draw up a plan of your house tell people what you want to end up with re areas and ask for some help in planning.By the way the garden looks gorgeous.Cheers Mark
Hi marc, idea 💡 for you, would your wardrobe fit on that wall where you have just taken the door down ? Your clothes would be just outside your bedroom 😊. Also the new door would open towards the wall away from you or use it on the wall that you made the bedroom wider with then you could put the wardrobe to the left when you leave the lounge. 😊xx
Hi Marc, have you considered installing a velux skylight or a couple perhaps, to overcome the light problem inside your home &, perhaps adding a little sweetener eg. sugar or honey perhaps to neutralise the acidity found in tomatoes? Just a couple of thoughts 😊
I like the velux idea, I have a tall loft so I would need to build a light tunnel to bring the light down to ceiling level. I don't have the budget to do that right now :-)
Tomatoes are very acidic, cut it down with a sprinkle of sugar in any sauce that you make with them. I’m better with them cooked than raw so I roast a whole pan of the with garlic salt and a sprinkle of sugar …before they disintegrate I put the. Into a glass jar and cover them in olive oil and store in the fridge with the lid on. The olive oil, hardens and they last for months. A spoon full in eggs, meat, veggies add a lot of flavor.
Definitely believe in trying new ideas. You are all about home improvement. Every project improves skills. Two ads- car insurance and Walmart. Have you ever added sliced zucchini (courgettes) to your Bolognese? Tasty. Parmesan, too.
Always a good idea to live with the space (or newly reopened space) for a while and then you may get fresh inspiration. Regarding spag bols...if that was a jar of D**mio it contains about 20g of sugar. Maybe you have been craving sugar :) You may benefit from making it from scratch, it is very easy. Depending on veggies you can eat add or leave out. Start with crushed tinned tomatoes and a couple of tablespoons of tomato puree. Brown onions then add mince, dried or fresh herbs, puree and tinned tomatoes, mushrooms, capsicum or other veg as desired. You can control things like adding garlic, sugar (5g would be adequate for removing bitterness) and end up with a much healthier version.
Regarding tomatoes, did you read the list of ingredients? It could be the seed oils or preservatives etc in it. Next time try real tomatoes, as they are a sub species of deadly nightshade, can I suggest you cut an x shape in the tomatoes plunge them into boiling water for a few minutes, take skin off, cut in half and remove the seeds. I know its a faff but might be worth a try? ❤
Hi,Marc Hope your Bolognese works out to your liking.Sometimes it can be quite varaiable, depending on the sauce used.Good luck anyway.I must ask for forgiveness for the spelling in my comment to your episode yesterday, a dropped "p" in suppose.Well thats off my chest.Have a good evening and God bless.Dan.
Doesn't the opened up area look better after the removal of the door and surround? Your new plan looks good, especially with the new shelves you've ordered. The only thing I have reservations about are walls at odd angles as I find they can create a psychological disturbance.
One foot in front of the other and that's how the journey starts. I don't eat much red meat of any kind including what you call minced beef (hamburger in the US) I stick with white chicken meat and port and what fish I can tolerate. That minced beef appears to be more expensive than what I pay for 1 lb. of 80% lean hamburger...about $5.80 lb. There are lower acid tomato varieties you can try to grow.
I think the place looks great opened up a bit. Question for you Dave, do you think you are financially better off living in France, than you would have been in the UK? I am thinking of moving to Sourdeval once I get my pension, I don't drive so need to be walking distance to a market town.
I seem to have more time to think here in France. I would recommend you travel to France a couple of time to investigate various areas. Northern France has similar weather to the UK :-)
Roma tomatoes aka 'plum' or 'egg' tomatoes have low acid content (considered acid free) instead of adding sugar to a sauce use a pear or a plum as their flavour is so light you won't notice them in the sauce. I am diabetic and sugar makes me feel really ill. Artificial sweeteners can leave me feeling sick for days. Too much protein makes me protein sick and that effects my liver and cholesterol. Years ago I had surgery that left my digestive system paralyzed. I wasn't able to eat or drink even water for weeks. I'm lucky as things turned around and it started working again but I was on baby food for 2 years while I retrained my system to accept food. Get yourself some baby food - baby food is as organic as you are going to get - no added anything. Start there introducing foods again and you will find out what you can tolerate or not. Forgot to add Mark, some beef Oxo cube, or gravy granules in Bolognese, will take the acidy of the tomatoes off.
Add a little sugar to reduce the acidity of the tomatoes, it may help.😊
