I am a 72 year old Black woman who grew up in Detroit during the Motown era. We also enjoyed the talents of Aretha Franklin and many other local greats. Although we enjoyed and truly appreciated their artistry, we never idolized celebrities. This is a new era. People are deeply immersed in the lives of these celebrities. They speak of them as though they were the neighbor next door. They exalt them as though they were deities. They seem to lack the ability to see these celebrities as complex flawed humans.
People stopped investing in themselves and became voyeurs of the lives of others. That's the real problem. The tabloids started things off by having weekly reporting, then vloggers and bloggers came with 24/7 gossip, and sealed the deal.

If a child was abused, this should have been reported years ago by her parents who reportedly knew about it and didn’t seek legal action back then. In addition, the doctors or medical professionals would have been mandated to report this if the child was seen by a medical professional when this allegedly occurred.
