Its pretty much considered the worst unit in the game right now. Immortals are cheaper and do more damage. Being an Air unit and being able to shoot air isn't enough to justify them right now when most AA units have the light armor tag. You only really see them if you opened Stargate first and get rushed by Roaches. They used to be used a bit protect your Carriers from Corrupters, but most Protoss don't want to go anywhere near the end game vs Zerg in the current patch. They also used to be used in rushes similar to the Tempests in the first game, using Shield Batteries to keep them alive, but thats basically died off since the Cyclone changes.

Okay so if you're in Fantasy's position with that much protoss BS outside your main, wouldn't you want to transition into ghosts? EMP hardcounters protoss units and depletes shield batteries, plus nukes can clear out the tightly packed structures. Classic had no detection or way vision to a ghost academy in the back of the main.
@@flashtirade He could have lifted the starport for better engages vs the tempests. The vikings weren't favorable since they couldn't to be massed to overwhelm the tempests and just served as an expensive buffer for the cyclones. Better to just pump out some marines to eat shots and go ghosts than bleed out so many resources into vikings.
@@BlueberryFruitshake Marines aren't much of a buffer to tempests with shield battery support unless there's a critical mass and/or stim, the vikings I think are necessary to the defense. However, the placement of the starport (as well as some of the repairing SCVs) severely hampered Fantasy's movement to the point where Classic was getting free kills on units that stuck trying to retreat. Fantasy might have been able to hit critical mass of vikings but he lost a number of them trying to pursue the tempests into the backline shield batteries.
@@flashtirade Feel marines would be a better buffer as they're much cheaper and take 2 hits each to kill whereas the more expensive vikings fall in 4 shots. With two orbitals worth of mules Fantasy could have kept marine production high enough to delay until ghost tech, which he could transition into easily by swapping a raxx onto the factory techlab. Marines could then be used to drop like we saw him try to do in the end, or secure him a third for either a marine tank or bioball followup.

Your statement doesn't have any sense. Protoss can't win late game, so they play aggressive cause it's the only way to win.
