    It’s amazing how much harder that pull seems when the engine isn’t bolted in the tractor frame! Also, always wiggle it a little before shoving it in the wrong hole. 🤣

    We have two torque wrenches that are clickers, I think both of them are not working properly. I have one with the needle pointer, we are currently going to use it on my son's Massey 285. Two years ago the head gasket blew and we replaced it during hay season, a big rush as usual. Well last year in the middle of hay it was not wanting to start without a big stumble and overheating, so we are going to tear it down this spring. The engine is looking good and coming right along, I'll be anxious to watch the complete video of the injector and rail. Thanks for sharing Chris, have a great Sunday and week ahead.👍

    Thanks for video Chris. A thought about torque... "A man with a watch knows what time it is. A man with two watches is never sure."
    In manufacturing audit torque to turn (end of line checks) is generally lower than the first installation torque. As a rule, a bolted joint will always relax and loose clamp load for 15 minutes to an hour unless fasteners are torqued to yield.

    I had the worse time getting my new injectors to seal at the top. The little clamps I guess had lost some of their tension. They are grade 8 bolts but I was afraid I would break them off trying to get them tight enough not to leak. I gave up and machined new one piece clamps out of 5/16 inch thick x 1 inch wide bar stock. This was on the head of a Deere 2020 tractor. I too bought new injectors. Best insurance on performance.

    • @ThatOliverGuyChris
      @ThatOliverGuyChris Рік тому

      A&I is reproducing those injectors, and if it's like their other products, well, it might be like stepping over a dollar to pick up a dime. Even the Stanadyne injectors are now made in China, but I was assured they are still made to Stanadyne specifications. Does the Deere version have the 3 clips on top of the clip that comes with the injector?

    Hey Chris. It looks like a 310 again! I am going to usethe new head gasket from Maibach's. I think they say you dont have to retorque the head bolts but I have to double check that. I also have those style T's for the returns.

      Let me know what you think of the head gasket. It's supposed to be more tolerant of variation in sleeve protrusion.

  • @Fatamus
    @Fatamus Рік тому +2

    Did you ever find out why it wouldn't run without choke? The low speed jet and or passage is plugged, it can't pull enough fuel through at low speeds to keep it running. A good cleaning should work. I've used wires from a wire brush before but a tip cleaner for a gas torch works well also.

    Chris, I share your concerns about the lack of quality control with regards to Reliance products. I found that out the hard (and very expensive) way when having an overhaul done on my 1955 a few years ago. I am presently in need of a new head gasket and was wondering if you could recommend any sources for NOS that I could contact. Even through Agco, engine parts are becoming a struggle to find for these old girls here in Canada. Your postings are very informative and an absolute pleasure to view.

    • @ThatOliverGuyChris

      Give Larry Svehlak a call at 5126335014. He had a few more of these NOS gaskets left last I knew. I probably should have bought an extra, and still might. Maibach tractor has a custom head gasket for the 310. I haven't tried one, but haven't heard any complaints so far. It uses copper fire rings and a metal gasket coated with some kind of varnish that does the sealing.

    Chris ,do you know where I could get an oem head gasket? I'm not having any luck with the ones from Maibach's they are sweating not even running and this 310 didn't have a head gasket issue before I over hauled it.

    • @ThatOliverGuyChris

      They are tough to find. Do a Google search for Svehlak Tractor, that's where I got mine. His stock is limited to what he has on hand, so there's a chance he might be out of them.
      A friend put a Reliance head gasket on his 1855 last year and it appeared that they have their hole alignment issues greatly improved. So that could be another option. Korves Oliver should be able to get you one of those.

    • @ThatOliverGuyChris
      @ThatOliverGuyChris Рік тому +1

      The only reason to pull the engine to get the pto going is because the splines in the hub at the flywheel that drive the power shaft have stripped out and need replaced. If that is the case you wouldn't have hydraulics either, because they both get power from that shaft.
