Ghost Train: Norwich City to Melton Constable (Norfolk)

- An animated past vs present look at the lost Midland and Great Northern Joint Railway line that ran from Melton Constable to Norwich! (now on the route of the Marriott's Way). #meltonconstable #norwich #norfolk #railway #whitwell
Norwich City Station was badly bombed in the Baedeker raids of 1942 when the main building was largely destroyed. Thereafter, the station operated from "temporary" buildings constructed on the site.
The station was closed to passengers on 2 March 1959 along with most of the Midland & Great Northern system, although the station remained in use for goods traffic until 1969

Great memories and a sad loss
Fascinating.
Thank you for joining all the dots.
I know bits of this route and now I can see how they fit together.
Superb as always. If only it was still there
These are great thanks for all the work that went into it
Wonderful work, well done.
I so look forward to these!
Has anyone else completed this journey, as I did during WW2?
Once again, you have excelled yourself. Such a fantastic journey and very close to where I go on holiday twice / yr… Your work is inspirational and I cannot wait for the next one. By the way, I think I’ve asked you many times, but could you explain of the clock clock?? Again, many thanks for the hours you’ve put into these creations 😊😊😊
Thanks! As for the clock it's to show the real time journey duration. I used old railway timetables and matched the clock to the time the train arrived at each station stop. ⌚ 🚂
Brill - I assumed as much, but wanted to check. I do like how you match the music. Super clever.

Does anyone realise or know there were once plans to build a spur linking City Station with Norwich Thorpe Station that would have skirted Norwich and join up with the Wensum Junction just past Carrow Road Bridge but I can't remember the site where I saw them?
Many years ago, I read of a plan to run a line around north Norwich over the heights over Riverside Road and a viaduct across the river with the line running into Victoria Station! Unfortunately I don't recall the book title. I have never come across that idea anywhere else.
You should have directed the movies Interstellar and Inception, then I would have understood them
I ironically fell asleep watching inception!
