Shishi “ შიში” means fear in Georgian. This song is the reunion of our 2 favorite modern artists in
Georgia, Tamada and Nini Nutzubidze and ourselves. The song was originally destined to be in our
album but after the success we had performing it live in Georgia, we decided all together to finish and
release it as soon as possible. It means a lot to us that this song resonated so strongly, when all of us
have a heavy heart , the war in Ukraine in mind.
First of all , It’s for us an anthem to brotherhood. Three generations of singers connected to each other
by friendship and mutual inspiration. It felt to us this song was meant to exist, feeling a silent force
moving us to this moment, like a mantra to fight our inner fears. It is for us also a way to celebrate our
love for Georgia and its people, culture… and food.
Georgia is a country with beautiful and deep ancient culture, but also with a very strong youth wave,
ready to gather to defend their vision of the future. It’s a privilege to witness and share those times
with such great artists. Lexo Ratiani from Georgia added his guitars and David Sultan from France at
the Electric bass joined us to complete the task. We want to thank Biko Birbichadze, who’s
determination in making this moment happened played a big role in the succession of events.
Tripmastaz, house Jedi in charge of the mixing and mastering of the dOPonly catalog could not resist
for a second time to deliver a great remix by surprise, turning the original version into a great deep and
funky rework for the deejays. He’s delivering the true underground sound that he represents and stands
for from his Berlin studio.
Few days before the releasing day, the great Turkish live band Depart , for whom we recently delivered
a remix on Mindgame Records contacting us to tell how much they love Shishi and if it would be
possible to remix the song. We told them about the releasing date, but decided all together to take the
chance, they were ready to work on it on that day. What came out of it is this amazing version. It
capture the spirit of the original version, reshaping vocals and making it ready for a dance floor like the
wooden house of the Bar 25.
dOP is celebrating the 13 release on their label dOPonly with Shishi. Two more projects will follow
this year and their new album in 2023 “ The Dark side of the cool”.
