    The soldier standing at attention facing the train at the end there is my father. This movie was one of his favorite projects, and today I took him to the Oregon Rail Heritage Center to see it again. It truly is a massive train. You must see it in person to fully understand the scale

      Actually, 4449 will be starring in a 3rd movie. 4449 was invited by BNSF to be in an Imax film coming out sometime next year I believe.

      Of course. They even removed the side skirts to make the 4449 look like one of the “Warbaby” steam locomotives, which were all common during WW2.

      4449 had her skirts removed and dressed with water-soluble black paint for this movie. So, they were attempting a “War Baby” look.

      It was weathered with water-soluble, meaning it can come off when washed with water, black paint for the shooting of the movie, so once they got back to the Brooklyn Roundhouse they most likely went to work washing the engine and reapplying the skirting.

      The film takes place in WW2 and centers on the incarceration of Japanese Americans into Internment Camps

    • @Railhog2102
      @Railhog2102 Рік тому

      @@brycepeterson1969This is because the film takes place in 1941-1942 and most soldiers were still using WW1 gear although the M1 helmet was around it was not issued until mid 42 and first saw action in the Battle of Guadalcanal

      The filmmakers were going for a “War Baby” look, so they removed 4449’s side skirts and dressed her in water soluble black paint, which ended up making her look heavily weathered instead of pure black.

    • @Railhog2102
      @Railhog2102 Рік тому

      @trainmaster844 Yes and this is quite accurate for the era being WW2, Most locomotives including 4449 were painted black for the war effort.
