I have seen many villains, but by far I think Silco might be on top of the list, for me personally, of well written antagonists. He wasn't just power hungry, nor was he a ruthless and cold-blooded killer. Silco had many layers and he was a broken soul, guided by his anger and hatred over the torment of Zaun and the selfish acts of Piltover, who turned their blind eye on the people suffering bellow. He wanted justice, but went about it the wrong way and caused havoc. He could have killed Powder without any hesitation, yet instead he took her in as his own when he saw her own suffering and abandonment. He embraced her imperfections and tried in his own way to save her from the past that tormented her, while Vi was the one who broke her and couldn't accept the damage she caused and the person Jinx became, from her actions and the guilt that ripped Powder into pieces for many years. Silco knew "Powder" was the source to Jinx's pain and thus he wanted to erase that side so that Jinx could flourish, just like Zaun. When he almost lost Jinx he was ready to throw away all of his plans and progress to make a peace treaty with Piltover, just so he could continue protecting Jinx, only to be told he had to turn in his own daughter so that Piltover could even consider helping Zaun. In the end he was ready to literally do anything to fight for his daughter, grabbing the gun to try and shoot Vi so that she would stop hurting Jinx by bringing up the past that constantly tormented her broken soul, even comforting her while dying so that she wouldn't carry the burden of his death on her shoulders like she had with her past mistake. Silco wasn't a perfect father, nor was he a good man, but he did his best for Jinx and he only wanted what was best for Zaun. In a way I see Silco as an anti-hero, while the high hierarchy of Piltover are the true villains in this story.
This. Absolutely this. I see so many people claiming "Silco only thinks the monster he made Jinx is perfect" and all I can think to myself is did these people even watch the show? Interestingly, they suffer from the same "I know the real you is in there" mindset that Vi holds, rather than actually understanding the nature and source of Jinx's pain. They want Jinx to stop being who she has developed into, and instead be the "better" version of her that they have attached to. In Jinx's own words, Silco didn't make Jinx. Vi's repeated **abuse** and subsequent abandonment made Jinx and no amount of "I'm so sorry" moments on Vi's part will change that she is an abuser. The final scene captures this perfectly if you pay attention. After Silco is allowed to speak, you can see Jinx soften and let her guard down. He's reaching her *and it shows*. It isn't until Caitlyn breaks free that Jinx goes berserk again, and finally - during the battle between Vi and Silco over Jinx, when Vi is bringing up the names of the people Jinx accidentily killed, it's only tormenting her further and further until she snaps and loses control. Vi doesn't care about her sister in this scene. What she cares about is her own guilt, and chases the idea that "Powder" could be returned to her, and she would be absolved of her guilt over hitting and abandoning her sister. She never once stops to *understand* Jinx's choices. Only ever to try and undo them.
@@ShadowKain666 Thank you! I'm happy to see someone also noticed this pattern between Vi and Jinx. I definitely know that Vi feels massive guilt and she never did anything on purpose as she was herself struggling with grief and loss. Yet despite this, even with best intentions people can damage others, and in this case it happened with Jinx.
I agree with all this. In the end Vi became Xander both creating the monsters that they were supposed to love and protect while Jinx and Silco became those monsters by the betrayals of their siblings, people they loved and trusted above all others.
Silco is hands down one of the best villains written for a show in maybe all of ever. He isn't evil. He is a bad person, he does bad things; but even he loves and can be undone by love.
The best part of this. Jinx is the one holding back silco from unleashing true madness in whole piltover or zaun. But in the end in order to show his real goal he just need to give Jinx to them.
Ironically his best part is that he never would have. If real power lies with the ruthless, those who would do anything, sacrifice anything. Then it wasn’t power he coveted. In caring, he made something he could never give up, a line he would never cross. By his own logic he weakened himself and still would have thought himself better off weaker than he could have been. ‘Nothing so undoing as a daughter.’ A brilliant line. Because he’d rather be undone than without his child.
You have to wonder if in season 2 Jinx will make the topsiders aware of the “beautiful” sea monsters that live beneath the surface, by unleashing them upon Piltover. Regardless this was well done.
"power, real power doesn't come to those who were born strongest or fastest or smartest . It comes to those who would do anything to achieve it." damn this line makes me want to become a villain that would topple down my country's government..
What always bothers me is how when Caitlyn says "People are starving, sick,..." and so on, she makes it sound like that's Silco's fault. He's no saint, the shimmer problem is still very much his fault, but without him, zaunites would still be sick and starving. With him and his plan, at least events are in motion that might make things better in the future. His character represents the great dilemma of all opressed nations: how does all the suffering we would cause by rising up compare to the sum of all the lesser pain we are sure to still endure if we don't? Is it the same? Is it less? And is it worth it?
As a Harley fan from like 12 - he's NOT a good person but as least he can actually love and doesn't abuse those he loves. Could argue abuse comes in many forms but with Jinx and Sevika he was genuinely caring
This is such a beautiful edit. Silco's character is cruel but yet caring for Jinx and that's why it has made me sad when he died. You made me cry with this but I thank you nevertheless. Your edit is just awesome. Keep on !
Silco isn’t a villain, calling him a villain would be looking at it from a black or white perspective or as vi would say it *oil and water* he has good intentions he wants to raise jinx to be powerful he wants to free the underground and make it an independent nation, but it’s what he does to get the nation and what he does to make jinx a successor is what labels him an anti hero. Let’s break this down, he sells drugs to take control of the underground he manipulates jinx to make sure she doesn’t leave him, and he does this things because of his troubled past and trauma across the board meaning multiple layers of traumatization. But he does these things for the sake of making jinx a better person and to free everyone in the nation. so in conclusion he is an emulsion *a mix of oil and water*
My top three villains in media have to be Apollyon from For Honor, Kuben Blisk from Titanfall and Silco. To me, they all represent the reality of the world they live in; harsh, brutal, and Draconian in its fight for survival. They all dug in deep and found the strength to rise to the top of the food chain, and that's the most human thing you can do, I say.
Holy fuccin shit this was such a good and well put together piece of art summarizing silco so well!! Absolutely love this character to bits and you portrayed it perfectly! Thank you for creating this masterpiece finding it made my day~ Edit: It is way too underrated in my opinion Now dont mind me rewatching this at least 10 more times~
_Am I the ONLY ONE who is DEEPLY reminded of the character of Walter Strickler from Trollhunters:Tales of Arcadia whenever I see Silco's beautiful face?!!_ :3. _PLEASE someone tell me I'm not the only one!!_ :'3.
You had to bring that whimpy character from that piece of shit show/franchise up well except silco is better than that weakling even Silco's death was only far superior but more emotional than Strickys anti climatic underwhelming death from a time bomb where Jynx regrettably kills silco he says to her "don't you're perfect".
This character is captivating. Sympathetic and tragic. Cruel and caring. Great Edit of the best character in the show.
A man of opposites. From first opposing Vander to then dying like him. A father who cared for a daughter. Perfect
"Is there anything so undoing as a daughter?"
*When Silco was dying*
Me: "Don't die... You are perfect :'("
Damn the feels

well said
this is so accurate omg..the way you explained this is just perfect.
Silco was a fascinating character with a superb voice.
Sinister, bitter, passionate, introspective, dreamer and… loving.

given Jinx's introduction of fishbones to them, i'd say yes
Perhaps not literally. But ideally Jinx IS that monster.
A monster in Silco’s eyes was perfect.
Ooh I actually hope she willl
say what you want about Silco, but I think we all agree he loved Jinx and tried his best to be a good father. I respect that!
I've never, *ever* cried for an antagonist's death
That says a lot, shame he's gone...
Dracula from castlevania made me sad. But never made me cry like silco
The characters of "Arcane" are brilliant...
But Silco is the best.
He's perfect😍
"power, real power doesn't come to those who were born strongest or fastest or smartest . It comes to those who would do anything to achieve it."
damn this line makes me want to become a villain that would topple down my country's government..
There's a monster inside all of us... 😏
Ikr
when he said "for respect" the first time I though he was talking about himself. But h was talking about Zaun vs Piltover. Amazing character
" No cry ,you're perfect "

Yep. It's so petty and cheap for Caitlyn to be able to talk like that. She is totally clueless and misguided by Vi's personal blind rage
As a Harley fan from like 12 - he's NOT a good person but as least he can actually love and doesn't abuse those he loves. Could argue abuse comes in many forms but with Jinx and Sevika he was genuinely caring

Silco is best
Really like this one! Well done!
Thank you so much 🤩
That was absolutely beautiful. Well done!!!
he might have been one of the best arcane characters that they made him die in a sad way...
I think, sadly, his speech about power is true
yep.

Dude, it's awesome! Like a real debut-video of Silco!😍😍😍
why was that so well done!!!!! im in love
More Arcane edits 🤩🤩

Wow the chills...and Jhin Vibe .......
But Jhin was psychopath and Silco wasn't. If he was he wouldn't be unique. He would have been another Joker
