I was there on that beautiful sunny day in Hyde park, was a bit late on parade, and missed the first 2 tracks of Motorhead and the sound people didn't have them right tbh, and Lemmy looked a bit unwell on the day (RIP) Faith no More had just owned the day with an incredible performance and then Soundgarden do Superunknown in full which was amazing (especially as Mike McCready from Pearl Jam turned up to help) by the time Black Sabbath played...I was so passively stoned from my friends I floated around the park haha, the best day I've probably ever had back on the 4th July 2014
Wish I had had the chance to too. Best of their albums, nice sound too. Can´t be compared to what they´d done in Spain, which was a bit cold, distant and disappointing to me.
“If you’re here for black sabbath maybe the whole thing will be annoying for you but we don’t care becuase we’re here for black sabbath too” gotta love Chris’ humour
They were incredible. Best gig of my life. Perfect warm up before Sabbath. Such great vocals even after all this time - no bloke in the crowd got close to singing along in tune haha
This is a brilliant audience record - well done! Was there that day - thanks so much I can now re-live it. So special for them to do an unannounced Superunknown show :D
It was great! And Matt being on Pearl Jam tour at that time, flew to London to play together with guys in Hyde Park. And Mike McCready as a special guest. And now only memories and Chris music left. Oh.
I remember going to this being a longstanding Soundgarden fan...when Chris announced the forthcoming barrage of brilliance...well...what a great day... R.I.P. CC...
The way Ben Shepherd plays these complex, improvisational permutations of the bass riff - so smoothly and effortlessly, man. You don’t really realize how much of an integral part of Soundgarden he was until you focus in on what he’s doing. Most bands can survive a change in bass player without it impacting the music - Soundgarden would not.
They're Kind, They're Courteous, Nice to Dog's, And then every once in a while they go into the postal office and shoot every single co-worker they met" ...LMAO...I mean how could you not love this band, they wrote a song, about a Mailman
Gutted i wasn't there -Superunknown would def be one of my desert Island albums. Its been on my top 5 albums since 1994. Also it should be compulsory for all 50 year olds to look like Chris Cornell! Still got it in spades!!!
I really dig the background of the band going on as they play!! A little more focus on Kim as he shreds it woulda been nice. I have never seen the background thing done that full scale- anyone else?
Lets just be happy we have a video to watch. I cant believe this is the only one of this quality. And what time did Sabbath go on? Seemed very sunny out.
+Soundtallica in Chains Shit man, it seems like a lot of people don't know that Ben Was singing on that track. When they've done it before, they only played the instrumental.
I believe it was due to time constraints my man. I was at the show, Hyde Park shuts down at a specific time with no exceptions so Sabbath had to get on with their set.
Damn it! why do the people recording keeps talking shit! they should shut up and listen to this amazing band! for god's sake... damn it, this video is great THANKS... but the audio is terrible---
The USS Liberty was a lightly armed American spy-ship on patrol in the Eastern Mediterranean. On June 8th 1967 during the Arab Israeli six day war (which had been initiated by Israel with a massive preemptive strike against her Arab neighbours) the Liberty was attacked by Israeli forces. After a number of "friendly" flybys by Israeli reconnaissance planes - where the identity of the Liberty as an American warship was clearly established - three UNMARKED Israeli fighter jets suddenly appeared and began strafing the ship with 20 mm cannon and rocket fire killing many of the young sailors as they sunbathed and relaxed on deck. The radiomen tried desperately to call for help but discovered that ALL U.S. SELECTED FREQUENCIES WERE BEING JAMMED BY THE ISRAELIS. Nevertheless, they eventually managed to get through to the sixth fleet and requested immediate assistance. No help was forthcoming that day as the U.S. sixth fleet had WHITEHOUSE ORDERS not to launch aircraft to defend them. Next came two Israeli fighter bombers which dropped napalm canisters along each side of the ship. Under fire, the crew battled the inferno and eventually managed to bring the flames under control. After a brief lull, Israeli torpedo boats arrived. They began strafing the ship with their 40 mm cannon and 50 mm machine guns before dropping their torpedoes. The captain, Lee McGonagle, managed to dodge four of them. The fifth hit the ship with a massive explosion in the starboard side just forward of midships, killing 25 sailors. The ship did not sink but 2/3 of the crew were incapacitated with wounded and dying sailors all over the decks, "it was literally a bloodbath". The command was given to prepare to abandon ship. Three inflatable life-rafts were still seaworthy and were dropped over the side. THE ISRAELIS MACHINE GUNNED THEM. The crews life-vests were now their only hope for survival and the badly injured would never survive. The engine room then managed to bring the boilers back to life and the ship had power. Damage control also indicated that the ship had stopped taking on water and had settled on a nine degree list to starboard. The captain wisely decided not to abandon ship. Israeli helicopters carrying commandos then arrived and hovered near the vessel. Repel boarders were ordered and the surviving crew scrambled to mount a desperate last defense. Seeing that the ship had power and was still capable of defending herself - they called off their attack and all hostilities ceased. The Israelis had attempted to destroy the vessel, they had tried to murder the crew of 294 Americans leaving none alive, and they planned to blame this attack on the Arabs in order to bring America into the war. The U.S. government was complicit in the attack and attempted to cover it up afterwards. As has every government since. The U.S. Navy told the surviving crewmen never to talk about the Israeli attack to anyone including their families and threatened them with lengthy prison sentences. Nevertheless, some have spoken out. The USS Liberty is the most decorated U.S. warship for any single engagement - earning 208 Purple Hearts for her desperate fight for survival. Captain Lee McGonagle was awarded the Medal Of Honour (in a secret ceremony at the naval yard).
You were the universe's gift to Earth. Your voice, extraterrestrial. Your persona, stratospheric. Your passing, grounded. Your legacy, timeless. Rest in peace Chris.
Cried during their whole set, couldn't believe I was seeing one of my favourite bands live. I actually cried so much I didn't have any tears left for Black Sabbath who are another one of my favourite bands. Hope they're gonna tour UK in 2015.
That day, many people, myself included, got to see Motorhead, Soundgarden, Faith No More and Black Sabbath for just £2.50! (about 3 dollars) Let that sink in. It was due to a website error but they let them be accepted.
Chris's voice has been sounding absolutely amazing in 2014 and 2015. Saw him live last week, and he was flawless. It seems to recover more and more the longer he's been removed from drinking and smoking.
+Soundtallica Yeah, he's really sounded incredible. Just watched a live performance of Black Rain from around the time the greatest hits album came out. I guess I underestimated his vocals slightly these days, it was incredible, hitting every note liking it was '91 all over again.
+Soundtallica in Chains I love his voice and always have, I think it's at it's best now because I love the raspiness that's developed with age. I've seen some videos here and there where it's not tip top but it's usually at the end of a tour when he's probably tired. I've seen him in concert twice and he was amazing both times, fantastic range for a singer in general but particularly for a rock singer. One of the few rock bands that sound good live imo, and not just like a bunch of noise. Nice user name BTW!
+Soundtallica in Chains He's struggling still in some places (it's certainly harder to pull off these songs 20 years later than it was in '94) but when he shines, he shines completely. Songs like "Like Suicide" are just a real treat, and continue to beg the question "why did this band break up?". The chemistry just works.
I was so proud to be there on that stunningly beautiful day, to see Soundgarden was so amazing! This was just after Faith No More did one of the most incredible performances and then to have Soundgarden do Superunknown …oh and then Black Sabbath too, I was with about 20 friends that all met up and I had the most wonderful girlfriend at the time, it was truly one of the greatest days of my life and will always be
What a pro Matt Cameron is. For most of 2014, Soundgarden had a sub drummer as Matt was busy with Pearl Jam. The night before this show, Matt played with PJ in Poland (July 3rd), flew to the UK to play this set with SG, then flew to Belgium to continue the PJ tour the next day (July 5th). In other words, no rehearsal for this. Yes they had played the Superunknown album a couple of times earlier in the year, but he went in cold here.
Chris actually had that long hair before he cut it for the superunknown/down on the upside/audioslave era. look up some videos of lollapalooza 92 or any music video from badmotorfinger
Man. To hear them play the whole album live, their best album, from beginning to end, what a treat. I always wished more bands would do this, because that’s how we, the listeners, typically experience their music, or used to. I had this album on cassette tape when I was 11 years old - there was no way to select individual tracks and so you tended to listen to a whole side at a time. This made the ordering of the tracks an integral part of the listening experience, where you were going on a journey, and in a way that the artist had intended. Even with the advent of CD’s, people who appreciated this music would still let it play through, but now that everything’s digital, the idea of an album being more than just the sum of its parts has just about died out. Big props to Soundgarden for seeing and demonstrating the value in this concept. It certainly wasn’t the easier option!
I'm hoping they surprise us in Detroit tomorrow by playing Superunknown one more time. I'd love to hear Head Down live again. They only played that one when I saw the Superunknown tour in 94.
I was there to see Motorhead and Sabbath, never heard of Soundgarden, but they were awesome, and I haven't stopped playing the album since. Faith No More were crap tho, not sure what Soulfly were all about????
great live! seem still an amazing band and i'm still a fan of them. Ther's only one mistake, while they 're playing black hole sun matt loses his click :-p
Wish the sound quality was better. It sounds and looks like they are playing Like Suicide in a standard tuning, albeit drop-d, which is not how they recorded it, the chord voicings are a little off, maybe not though.
Layne? Alice In Chains ?? Also a great Seattle band -Layne died young and should not have. . Anyway, moving along - enjoying this live performance till Russian commentary or what I assume is Russian commentary interferes from around 10 mins in -Seattle ruled

No one sings like you anymore.
I feel Blessed to have been there.
This was the first and last time i had the pleasure of seeing you perform Chris. I hope you're happy on the otherside of life. We'll miss you.

I was there that day, we have lost Lemmy and now Chris 😢😢
This is a brilliant audience record - well done! Was there that day - thanks so much I can now re-live it. So special for them to do an unannounced Superunknown show :D
It was great! And Matt being on Pearl Jam tour at that time, flew to London to play together with guys in Hyde Park. And Mike McCready as a special guest. And now only memories and Chris music left. Oh.
I remember going to this being a longstanding Soundgarden fan...when Chris announced the forthcoming barrage of brilliance...well...what a great day... R.I.P. CC...
Riding you all the way! luv this song!
Matt is a fucking treasure, the heart of the band, for sure. Chris is the soul however...devastating loss.
nice to see mat come back for a few gigs.

someone shuts up the guy nagging and talking next to the camera microphone all the time ! you don't let me listen to Chris Cornel's voice!

Ojala antes q se tornen muy viejos, vengan por aca al Ecuador!!! son fabulosos estos tipos..!!!

Was the bassist in Reseviour Dogs?
+Ben Wherlock LOL!!! Classic! I thought he looked like a want-to-be rocker they found wandering out of Goldman Sachs...
❤️❤️❤️
Head down is the only song where camera focus should have been also on Ben Shepard on bass for obvious reasons. But wasnt.
Also, why didn't they play Half?? I thought they were supposed to play the entire Superunknown album here? I would've loved to hear Ben singing live.
+Soundtallica in Chains Shit man, it seems like a lot of people don't know that Ben Was singing on that track. When they've done it before, they only played the instrumental.

Because it's impossible to play live.
Half is a shit song anyway. Why would anyone wanna hear it live?
Matt rejoins them right after coming to my town? where's the love, matt?
does chris dedicate a song to Layne on this set?
Damn it! why do the people recording keeps talking shit! they should shut up and listen to this amazing band! for god's sake... damn it, this video is great THANKS... but the audio is terrible---

Ben is such an unique bass player. Love it.
Everything he touches turns to gold. His influence on Lanegan's Field Songs is amazing. :)
Matt Cameron finally back where he belongs.
Matt together with band RUSH new album listening awesome

Well it was worth the full price for me !

A-live- in the superuknown! Chris rocks like he's 20yo.
I love how he introduces my wave as "a sort of territorial pissings". Gotta love Chris.
Pity no Half or She Likes Surprises but overall great performance. Video quality is amazing, shame the sound isn't that good.
Head Down one of the best!!

was lucky enough to be at this gig
Kim Thayil is awesome MAN !!!
Lol, Soundgarden plays 4th of July on US Independent Day from England in London.
I was there on ma birthday and it only cost me £2.50. YaaaaaaaaaSSSS!!
An amazing day seeing Soundgarden, a band I have adored for a very long time. A gig I will never forget. Sleep tight Chris. ❤️👏🤘✌️
Why didn't Ben interact with Mike at all? Do they not like each other or something?
Singer looks the same after 20 years, only longer hair
Chris actually had that long hair before he cut it for the superunknown/down on the upside/audioslave era. look up some videos of lollapalooza 92 or any music video from badmotorfinger
Matt Cameron. What happens if Soundgarden and Pearl Jam perform on the same day?
Matt Cameron's arms fall off.
Black Betty He would put in a flawless double shift
Then it's kinda temple of the dog
Lovely Bass guitar playing and mixing
Video doesn't do it justice the entire time though
I got in for £20 black sabbath and soundgarden.. that is superunknown
This version of 4th of july sounds ultraheavy
Mike McCready is a little bit overexcited :)
Amazing Performance!
37:17 I bet Chris was even thinking what the fuck?lol
mailman that's the f song! 20 yrs ago. i'm old!
É por isso que eu amo a internet... no entanto é tão triste saber que eles nunca mais se reunirão novamente! Melhor banda de rock de todos os tempos!

I don't get why he struggles so bad with some songs and then others like fell on black days he can scream really high and hold it. What the
Chis looks great! Unfortunately the audio on this is almost impossible to listen to. Sounds like SHITE! Nevertheless, thanks for posting.
Maybe thats your destination to go to a show and do better.
matthew bengtsson I'm still recovering :-) She obviously doesn't understand I wasn't criticising the band. The sound is out of their hands.
Pete Woods Just buy the CD, dude.
I'm hoping they surprise us in Detroit tomorrow by playing Superunknown one more time.
I'd love to hear Head Down live again. They only played that one when I saw the Superunknown tour in 94.
Detroit...😞
A spotless album in my opinion.
It will just never make sense to me why Chris is gone......just such a MASSIVE loss!!!!
pretty sure i can hear my high ass screaming some of the lyrics xD
I was there to see Motorhead and Sabbath, never heard of Soundgarden, but they were awesome, and I haven't stopped playing the album since. Faith No More were crap tho, not sure what Soulfly were all about????
Where have you been Mark? Glad you've discovered them! You'll probably love Badmotorfinger too, the album before Superunknown, thats heavier.
faith no more were awesome men!
I'd say Badmotorfinger is even better, tune for tune.
Seen as this was in Britain it is a pity they didn't finish with she likes surprises
This is lovely & Sweet nostalgia tbh
Such a great day! RIP Chris
great live! seem still an amazing band and i'm still a fan of them.

Mannn I wish I was there. Superunkown is my favorite album
A day I will treasure. Very special. So sad I will not get to see them again.
Nice job filming friend, really enjoyed your work
People who there (not that I'm jealous), was it really a case of crowd almost drowning out band sound??
Can't believe this wasn't filmed professionally!!!
it was filmed for big screens near the stage
Where can I find it then???? :-) @@metalafisha
man he nails 4th of july!
How come Chris' vocals are way better live in Soundgarden 2 than Audioslave?
+Patrick Polaski Right, but I mean Soundgarden after audioslave. He's even older than Audioslave time, but his vocals are better.
+Shane Graddy He smoke a lot and was a heavy drinker during his Audioslave days. After he quit both, his voice recovered a lot.
Mcready coming with that pearl jam energy
Wish the sound quality was better. It sounds and looks like they are playing Like Suicide in a standard tuning, albeit drop-d, which is not how they recorded it, the chord voicings are a little off, maybe not though.
Jonathan Van Horn It's the camera. It sounded perfect there.
