I swear I will never understand people that complain about "slowness" in media, specially this on Cars 1, it's the whole point of the scene to be "slow" and calm. Like, Eden commonly complains about "nothing happening" at the start of the things they watch. It's pacing, not everything needs to be quick, info-dumping shit all the time.
Bessie isn’t sentient for the same reason only the cab of Mack is sentient. The trailer doesn’t have an engine or anything, it just gets hauled. Like the equivalent of a lawnmower, doesn’t really do anything unless there’s a human around to push it
This movie actually really cheered both my grandma and I up when we were in some dark places. It’s got that southern charm to it that made us both really happy. Plus, oddly enough, this was my gateway to loving Wes Anderson.
_Cars_ was definitely a weird film in Pixar’s catalog, but that’s why I’ll love that film even more, especially since I grew up within Route 66 itself. It always makes me think of that simpler time, ya know?

Literally one of the best Pixar films! They put so much work in it. The first film to use just ray tracing for the reflection animation. Had actual race legends voice and help with the film. They recorded the sounds of the cars they’re based on. Also they used real history for The King and Doc Hudson. Like the years of the Hudson Hornets racing years, the crashes, the actual history of the REAL FABULOUS HUDSON HORNET, etc. Also I love how John actually took the crew to racetracks and Route 66 for research. Also LIGHTNING has one of the best character arcs ever! Also I rewatched and literally the most inappropriate Pixar films!

Fun fact: During my Marching Band camp, my friend operated the cart that held all the electric stuff for the piano and a monitor. On this monitor, he would constantly randomly play "Life is a Highway" during pit practice. I now associate that song with this experience. I will miss you on the piano, Julian (he's not gone, he's just playing snare this year)
