Older, but solid and tight...they sound great and very well rehearsed, true professionals, I have mad respect for this band...I hated this band in the 80's, I was more from the punk/goth scene back then, but have grown to appreciate them as the years have gone by. It's like hearing them for the first time in my 50's. Good on them and Pittsburgh, I love your city...

High n Dry was their best album period. I feel bad for Pete Willis. He wasn't really fired for drinking, hell, they let Steve Clark drink himself to death. He was fired for trying to keep the band on that High N Dry trajectory.
Beyond wrong. Like a drunken incoherent in sessions Pete Willis is going to influence Mutt Lange, Joe, Sav and Steve on the direction of the band. He became a detriment. And he wasn't the leader. Joe was. And Steve wrote way more. The Pete Willis era is awesome. But it was short-lived.
Wrong. Steve always got wasted AFTER the gig and Pete got to where he was showing up at gigs, rehearsals and the studio drunk and wanting to fight and the band and Mutt got tired of his unprofessional bullshit

But the Leps weren't going to cheat him out of his share of the album's profits anyway. They're not vindictive like that. Pyromania has (and continues) to make Pete lots of money. He even gets paid all these years later when Leppard performs anything from High 'n' Dry and Pyromania in front of tens of thousands every night in concert. Pete's doing ok financially, no question.
I love this band more than any other. But this lacks that Willis/Clark, collen/Clark vibe. they've never been able to recreate Steve's vibe. Not trying to take anything from viv but That was the key to the guitar sound. fight me. I said what I said.

@@nothanks3590 Older singers can still sing well but can't hit the high notes which is understandable so they improvise or get a little help. Plant, in his 70s, can still sing but forget about the Zeppelin screams so he plays it easy.
If you ever take suggestions from anyone Joe Elliott then I will say, you still have plenty in you in terms of song writing. If you want an inspiration watch the new theme song about to start the ".Housenof dragons" while you listen to it you might feel a sense of familiarity to it for probably it was taken from your heavy mid tempo songs.women and gods of War. Write a song similar to that so heavy yet mid tempo that when you listen to it you will feel.the ground tremble Thats one type of sound you need to pursue and not go back to the past. Hope this helps

Phil Collen gets the limelight as the main guitarist which is a shame. He is sloppy and just not very good. Vivian has been deliberately held back in this band but is so much better than most people realise. Listen to the first two Dio albums. E

I think he is talented but when he plays fast it is muddy as hell and just not melodic or fitting to the rest of the solo. Never has been, never will be. Vivian on the other hand can play slow and melodic and fast and tasteful and do it cleanly. His solos are better written and executed by a mile.

Totally agree they got so many songs from the first 3 albums that should be staples in the set list. Right now i'm trying real hard to think of a bad song on those albums and it is really sad that they not as known by the younger fans. Man!! Viv Campbell on a recent podcast said Joe's voice was sounding really good in recent years... but this is outstanding, and appears effortless! The whole band is tight as a crab's ass. Old school doesn't mean you mail it in \m/ \m/

Def Leppard never disappoints. They always put on a hell of a show. My favorite moment was seeing them upfront at the stage and after phil was done doing his solo, he literally through the pick directly at me and I was the lucky one. People by me wanted to see it. I was like no way. It would have been gone. Lol. Still have it to this day.
Another great live performance from my fav band of all time. Joe (and Vivian, Phil, and Rick (the Savage one) ) can still reach those high notes after all these years, and the thunder God (Rick Allen) is unparalleled on the drums. amazing..

I saw Def Leppard on the Pyromania tour in September 1983. It was my 3rd concert I ever went to. I think Uriah Heep opened up. Cheers!
