    If you're new to Stormzy follow this man's career and listen to his interviews. He's honest, intelligent but he does something that American artists tend to do that he doesn't. He doesn't put on a persona. He's Stormzy, he's African, he's not gonna apologize because he's black but he will have a conversation with you as he would with anyone else. Honest, without sunglasses on, probably at some point talk about his mum and not forgetting that before he was Stormzy, he was just plain old Michael

  • @veethebest9445

    Love the fact he shouted out other artists and gave well deserved props to Dave. Appreciated his authenticity and openness. And although he doesn’t want to be the poster boy for mental health (understandably so) it meant a lot to see a man speak openly about it and for black man to speak openly about it. Mental health is still stigmatised in the BME community and for men in general. suicide rates are higher amongst men and I feel it’s because they’re less likely to feel comfortable enough to admit they are experiencing pain or trauma or depression and the need for support...

      If you look into the past every woman who married into the family was harassed and humiliated by the press. Diana, Sarah Ferguson, Sophie. Even Kate Middleton, her family were investigated and hounded. Her outfits and weight obsessed over. The press agreed to give the boys a break when Diana died, since they were grown they were not given a pass either. Tabloids in the UK are toxic.

      A J black is beautiful?
      As in, are you simply saying that black is objectively beautiful? Are you just saying that some black people are beautiful? Isn’t that obvious for any race?
      Or is beautiful used in a relative, racially unequal way?
      As in more beautiful than asian or caucasian for example?
      If so what is so special about the black race? I’d say the black race is equally beautiful as the next race, it is not particularly beautiful.
      But tastes are tastes. I don’t wanna argue just trying to figure out yours and sharing my taste as well.

      But you know what it's like Africans rep their countries very hard and that's it really, they know they are black but they are invested in their lands and culture. They are their nationality first. Nigerian Black.

    Stormzy is famous and many white people in Britain support him and love his music. Britain is a wonderful place filled with really lovely people but you will never erase prejudice from anywhere in this world because some people just cant cope with any kind of 'difference' be it your colour, your class, your gender, your accent, your disability or your beliefs. Dont make everything about race and victimhood, and look at what we all have in common and what brings us together.

    • @jnightmare0
      @jnightmare0 5 років тому +2

      Thing is no one makes everything about race apart from racists. Its either you get abused by racists and stay quiet and then people think it doesn't exist or you can speak about it and then everyone starts claiming that your making everything about race or your pulling a race card, when in actual fact your just saying what your reality is. People don't like the truth because it hurts.

    • @futurepast1
      @futurepast1 5 років тому +2

      METalGod66 Perfect answer, the more we expose racism, the more people are going to be dismissive and claim that the people bringing the subject to the forefront are playing the race card. Racism in England is subtle and insidious and is predicated on notions of white superiority.
      Britain does have really lovely people but their are a lot of racists who only see people by their differences or group identity rather than an individual in their own right.

    • @futurepast1
      @futurepast1 5 років тому +2

      Reality Not literally repeating Akala, My own words and experiences articulated in my own way. Why would you be so dismissive of ones experience asking for proof?? My experiences not yours! A few days ago somebody etched NF on a door I was to paint at work whilst me and a black guy were working there. The amount of times I’ve heard the words “black bastard” and “packy” before my eyes and online is endless! I’ve been called a packy in person, then there’s the subtle racism and being talked down to, being ignored, being stereotyped. I presume your a white person right? Just try and listen to what we’re saying, our experiences aren’t born in a vacuum they are our own real experiences! I can go deep and write an essay on this shit and people like you would still be dismissive.
      I work in construction I deal with putting it nicely overtly ignorant and racist assholes regularly! and then there’s the suspicious and smug middle classes, don’t get me started on the posh boris Johnson types, what u don’t believe me?? So there’s Akala, Stormy, Me and thousands of other people of diaspora saying the same shit and u want to ask man for proof! Maybe ur part of the problem and part of the reason racism still exists to this extent in England today!

    • @futurepast1
      @futurepast1 5 років тому +1

      Reality Fail! I’m not Pakistani I’m Indian, unfortunately racists describe anyone from turkey all the way to Outer Mongolia or east India as a Packy. I’m really not trying to convince you about racism in England, as I said in my previous comment there are some lovely white Brits but racism is still pretty prevalent all around the country. I described my experiences to you as per your request and all you could do is deflect with a weak rebuttal about Pakistani grooming gangs, as I said before I’m not Pakistani nor am I part of a grooming gang but I’ve still experienced some pretty unpleasant racism. I’m quite happy to express my experiences once and for you to remain dismissive I’m used to it. I did say in my previous comment that I could write an essay on this shit and you amongst many would still deny. I stand by my previous comment though that people like you are part of the problem.

    • @futurepast1
      @futurepast1 5 років тому +1

      Reality I wish these kind of people were an anachronism to the 80’s. I’m lucky I live in Greater London which is a cosmopolitan city. You start venturing slightly further out, Essex, Kent, Surrey Berkshire and you much more likely to come across backward racist scumbags who can’t disguise their contempt for people the perceive to be different. It was one of those stereotypically ignorant Essex wide boys who etched NF on the door I was gonna paint the other day I’m sure it was. I had to put it on him the following day for calling me oi!

      @Crusher Corps Stormzy is slightly overrated imo, but he's still amazing. That being said, he would wipe the floor with the vast majority of rappers in the states.

      @Crusher Corps American talents being ignored? You sound like you just have an issue with the fact there are 'rappers' of different nationalities as there is no way you're making that comment on a Sway video when he has multiple no major rap acts on his show weekly, let alone major rap superstars.

    His "Blackness" is his own, not all of ours! Blackness isn't all about promoting violence and vulgar lyrics. Speak for yourself, If black people keep on living the stereotype, I am not surprised when others see us in a bad light.

      The "stereotypes come from poor neighbourhoods and impoverished backgrounds" maybe if you help your community you can help get rid of the stereotype👌 also blacks aren't they only people that do stereotypical things

      @@jnightmare0 And these stereotypes were created by racism, slavery, colonization and white supremacy to make us look like we're sub-human. I don't care how or what other people look at us. This shit is working just the way it was built to. Encouraging one another to do better is one thing but cradling other people's view of black people and wanting people to meet them is not acceptable!🚫

      @@mollysullivan7416 yep, a handful of his tunes and some not on an album. But my comments don't only address his lyrics, plenty of others do the same and worse
