This is one of those games that I remember long after I've played. Gives you a lot to think about. The devs other games are good as well, although Soma is probably my favourite. Hope you enjoy man!

It definitely makes you think, that’s for sure. So far I’ve played Amnesia: The Dark Descent and Machine For Pigs. Both of those were really good! They honestly just make really good games in general, my opinion of course.

@flame_bot agreed man, I'm old enough to remember when Amnesia came out and how it's revolutionary mechanics completely rejuvenated the horror game industry. That game gave birth to people like Pewdiepie and Markiplier. It was definitely as big a phenomena as FNAF, I think probably bigger. Maybe the largest, or at least most influential, in horror game history.
I'm passionate about all things horror, movies shows books doesn't matter so I could talk about it forever lol. I'm one of those people who was watching MarbleHornets slenderman series as it uploaded.
I don't want to ramble too much so I'll just say it's because Horror as a genre really forces creativity, and it has such a variety of styles that there is a huge range of expression available, to both professionals and amateurs.

@vgfan4ever Oh, please don’t ever apologize for talking about something you’re passionate about! I truly see nothing wrong with doing so. My dream is to make a community where people can come and discuss the things they enjoy. But I have to agree. Horror is a great genre, with such a huge range. I love horror, but am truly terrible with it😅. And I believe that Amnesia was very revolutionary as well. It paved the road for such great things. I grew up watching Mark and Marble Hornets as well. Though I never did finish it. Markiplier is honestly the main reason why I decided to start making content on UA-cam. He’s had such an impact on me, and so many others. I’ve decided long ago that I wanted to do the same. I know I may never be as big, nor will I make it. But as long as I make one person happy, that’s all I care about really. I’ll just keep posting until I can’t, regardless of how big or small my channel is

@flame_bot Mark was a special case, and honestly he's a great guy to model yourself after just don't get discouraged if you don't hit the super numbers he did. Just my theory, but I had actually subbed to Mark at around 20k subscribers, long before he was ever famous. I think the latest thing he had uploaded was The Briefcase at the time. I was only early to his channel because I was actively seeking out horror games after Amnesia released.
At the time I wasn't really into LetsPlays but I loved browsing to see new horror games and projects. I distinctly remember not really liking Pewdiepie at the time (didn't hate him just his shtick was too kiddy for me) and knowing that Mark would end up getting at least somewhat successful just because he was the only one not outright copying Pewdiepie. He admittedly did it a bit but was still mostly his own person. I definitely didnt see him surpassing Pewdie though.
These days I find the best channels for showcasing horror games is probably a toss up between ManlyBadassHero who kind of plays everything, and AlphaBetaGamer which is a channel without commentary that does short 10 minute snippets of games, and easily has the most variety of any channel I've seen.
In no way to detract from Mark's success, I think his rise was
very much a product of the times. I'm 36, I'm going to guess you're around the same if you remember Amnesia coming out? Maybe late 20s? If you remember the landscape at the time, the internet was largely churning out AVGN clones. (James Rolfe is another guy I highly respect, actually fell in love with his 3 minute movie reviews on Spike Tv). Mark, Pewdiepie, Yamimash, even Game Grumps all benefitted from adopting the newer format of playing games as a community. Whether they meant livestreaming or just uploading most footage with mild edits.
The landscape has definitely changed since then, we have Twitch now for dedicated streaming, and I'm not entirely sure what the "hot new format" is for play sessions, but I do hear a lot or creators saying the algorithm is favoring long form video essays right now. The 10 hour retrospectives ive been watching would probably agree lol.
All that is just to say good luck with your channel man! The main piece of advice I have for every content creator is keep an eye out for new formats, it's always the early adopters of the formats that stick that end up gaining traction.
