    Thanks for coming out and reviewing my Allroad! I have owned the previous gen A6 based Allroad and this A4 based Allroad is such a nice car. Just wish the back seat was a little bigger. We got my wife an A6 sedan to replace this as our family car. Oh, and I feel honored to have 2 cars on the channel that pass the Big Friggin' Bottle test!

    A year late, but I just saw this review. I’ve got a 13 and use it as a construction vehicle and it’s been dead reliable for me. It won’t haul lumber for me, but that’s what Rona delivery is for. It does hold my Milwaukee Packout no problem, and will tackle all kinds muddy and snowy, unplowed job sites. It’s also way cheaper and more comfortable than a half ton, the headlights are way better, my stuff stays dry and my tool batteries don’t freeze. I get teased by the boys when I first got it, but they all equally say how much they love my car and can’t believe it’s over 10 years old.
    Editing this 3 months later: you totally missed the mini tool box in the trunk, just ahead of the spare tire compartment. AND the inflate-a-flat also comes with an Audi 12v air compressor which is super handy for when you have bikes+bike racks too. The pano roof also has a huge power sunshade. The interior red lighting at night is super classy and easy on the eyes. And the upper trim levels have the MMi knob behind the shifter and volume knob is also moved next to it which is very intuitive.

    Great review. Best one on UA-cam….i love my 13 allroad. It does everything I need. No problems with maintenance either. As long as you do regular maintenance like spark plugs, oil change, transmission and gearbox oil change….you will have a reliable car that does it all.

    Own this car with an updated mmi and better overall tech package, but the rest is the same. Spot on review. Throw a roof box on this and you get tons of space without worrying about going into parking lots. With winter tires it can go anywhere even places other SUVs struggle. Definitely need to be on top of maintenance so it's better for mature owners who have extra cash to take care of it, but if you do you'll be rewarded. It'll be a sad day when I have to let it go.

    We have a 2014 allroad and it has been a consistently reliable vehicle.
    My wife dailys a toyota highlander. Its a few years older than the allroad but has over 45k miles less. In repairs, we have spent more money on the toyota than the audi. Yeah thats right.
    The audi just hit 145k miles and the toyota has 98k.
    The allroad has been nearly flawless. The only thing that has broke has been the motor mounts.
    Its just basic maintanance with the audi.
    The downside, insurance is a more (than the toyota), premium fuel (or flexfuel), and the big one...i really wish there was more legroom in the back.
    Other than that, its been an awesome and very reliable ride!

      @@jacobyo99 that is true if you don't take care of it. The turbos isn't the worst problem because they are pretty easy to remove and you can get upgraded turbochargers for not much more than stock. Also I think there is an A6 platform allroad with the 4.2 aswell

    Thats looks identical to my own AR here int he UK. I have a 3.0 V6 TDI engine with a little tweak for 300bhp (which upsets hot hatch owners) with ash grey leather and sports pack (paddle shifters) .. I do wish I had that panoramic roof though. Great vid thanks for sharing.

    My guess as to why there aren't really many of them: the original Allroad (i think it was an A6) was known to be pretty unreliable with its 2.7 tt V6 engine, so that reputation may have stuck in the minds of people and they avoided it because of that. Also, the Q3 and Q5 were more popular because they did pretty much the same things as the Allroad with better ground clearance and slightly less but negligible MPGs. Those were what everyone wanted.

  • @CarsofGlasgow
    @CarsofGlasgow Рік тому +3

    These are still quite popular here, it bamboozels me that they never sold the diesel A4 allroad there. Whereas we get the A4 and A6 allroads in TDI format

    This was Audi trying to have a bite of Subaru's lunch with this car being aimed squarely at the Outback. It's no wonder Subaru kept offering more upscale editions of their famous AWD wagon just to keep pace with the Allroad.

  • @freidarun

    Thanks for the review. I found a 2013 Allroad with 47k on it and had it shipped from New York state to the Midwest to buy it via carmax. A few years ago I had my 2003 A4 Avant cruelly taken from me when a friggin' cell phoner rear ended me at full speed while I was waiting at a stop light, totalled it and traumatized my family and I! It was a 1.8T with a five speed stick, winter package with built in ski boot that came through the back seat fold down. That Avant was my favorite car ever and jet black just like the new (to me) Allroad is. As long as the Allroad checks out all right during testing I'll be back in the Audi saddle again.

    This car has the basic Concert audio system so that is why the dial is not behind the shifter which you get with MMI/Navigation package.

    Love my allroad. I think we got more choice in engines here in the uk. Mines a 3.0 v6 tdi plus a mild tweak that tops 300bhp… and goes like stink plus 45mpg if you drive it sensible. Would have not have wanted that thirsty 2litre petrol lump with the prices of petrol in the uk. Also noticed the strange location of the mmi dials on your test model? The mmi controls are by the shifter on uk spec cars. Great review.

    • @TarmenAmzarian
      @TarmenAmzarian Рік тому +1

      Different models and generations. The first A6 Allroad debuted way back in the 90's, the A4 not before 2008. There are Allroad versions of both the current A4 and A6 models, but they are probably not marketed in the US; that whole class of vehicle is quite narrowly marketed towards upper middle-class buyers in Europe, who do not need actual offroad capabililty, but who commonly drive on bumpy, narrow roads, gravel roads or snowy or leafy roads.

    This looks pretty good. It could pass for a more modern car. Audis have a tendency to look like nice Volkswagens inside but this looks premium. Not quite Mercedes-Benz premium, more like Volvo premium. It's a shame Audis have a long reputation for being unreliable and expensive to fix. Wagons are always cool.
