I got to meet Arturo at Johnny Ramones memorial service, Such a nice guy sent me and my soon some relly cool memorabilia when he did'nt have to, So cool to me and my son awsome guy
He was such a nice guy. Always welcomed me, when I was a young artist, into his home. I didn't even care about the Ramones. He was just a super cool dude.
I heard this story from Arturo himself back in 1993 when I was hanging round before the show, he was selling merchandising. He didn't even know me but I recognized him and started to ask things about the Ramones. Everything in spanish. Gracias, Arturo, fuiste muy amable. Gracias por reconocer que el Loco Live es basura. Gracias por los sercretos que me contaste sobre el It's Alive.
I had tickets to see Me First and the Gimme Gimmes at Bowery Ballroom in March, 2001. Ninety minute drive from PA, my brother was driving, and I brought the new issue of Spin magazine with Joey on the cover. It was on the trip reading the article that I learned how sick Joey was. I ended up writing a get well/fanmail note during the trip. We ended up stopping at CBGB, and from there learned that Arturo's loft was close by. I remember feeling starstruck when Arturo came downstairs to see us. He briefly said Joey wasn't doing well, and I asked him to pass along the note I'd written to Joey. A couple months later, after Joey had died, I got an email from Arturo, and he said he had read the note to Joey and mentioned a couple things had made Joey laugh and smile. Playing at the "bingo hall" in Allentown made him chuckle. It was a small gesture on my part to try to let a hero know he was a hero to me. But the fact that Arty went out of his way to confirm Joey had heard what I had written in his final days meant the world to me. I remembered how pained he had looked while telling me Joey probably wasn't going to pull through on that brisk day back in March. That trip was also the last time I was able to see the WTC. We lost three titanic icons of NYC that year, but during all of it and until his own end, Arturo carried that miscreant, cretin torch that was the legacy of Ramones. He is missed.
We need more Arturo's in this world. Great artist and storyteller who is still missed to this day. RIP🤘🖌️
I knew Arturo very well...one of the main parts of the Ramones....the 5th Ramone...Man is a legend
Arturo was truly one of a kind. Ramones or no Ramones, Vega was destined to create a unique scene in the world of pop art.
Beautiful man. RIP Arturo.

Art is a voice from the soul put into expression into a visual image, that’s the best part about it, there’s no right or wrong
The Arturo’s Loft footage is the epitome of rock and roll.
